After listening to Avicii's 'The Days' and 'The Nights' (Which are fantastic songs, btw) it made me think about the actual day and night cycle. And when pondering about that, I wondered which came first when the Earth was so young. Was it day first? Or was it night first? And even if there was an actual theory about it, and perhaps there is, it's hard to picture how and why it did come first.
I prefer Nighttime myself. I hate early mornings regardless of whether I get proper sleep the night before or not: I am zombie mode for the next hour once I wake up lol.

Night. I live right next to a forest so it's pretty nice at night. You barely see much most of the time, and there's like 5 owls always screaming in the woods. Creepy and relaxing to be honest.

This question makes no sense. It was both day and night, only in different places. Day is just the state of a location being in the Sun's light, so obviously on the other side of the planet it will be night, as night is just the state of a location being in the shadow of the Earth. So when the planet formed, obviously in some places it was day and others it was night. You didn't really spend much time thinking about your question at all did you.
As for day vs night, though, I don't really prefer either. My favourite time of day is actually the evening twilight.
True, I never really thought about it that way. Maybe I was only thinking about it through the perspective I was currently thinking.

In addition to that you would have to find out when the Earth "began", was it has "began" when it was a planetesimal or did it has "began" when it became what we see it as now with plants and animals?

All that is gold does not glitter, Not all those who wander are lost
The old that is strong does not wither, Deep roots are not reached by the frost
From the ashes a fire shall be woken, A light from the shadows shall spring
Renewed shall be the blade that was broken, The crownless again shall be king
Day and night came at the same time due to where the Earth is and how it rotates. It is always day somewhere, always night another. Though, due to the way Earth formed, it was molten rocks and lava, so dark clouds would have always covered the sky, so even if it was day, it may have appeared as if it were night. Also lol my favorite time of day is day time, I love the light bright colors and such.
Neither came first, the earth technically had no atmosphere when it first formed so even if it was day, it wouldn't be day as we know it.
In fact, chances are the earth didn't start near the sun.
I like to think Jupiter (And possible Saturn!) was one of the first planets to be grabbed by the orbit of the sun, and Jupiter with such a strong gravitational pull (Which has saved us from mass extinction trillions of times.), pulled earth into its orbit along with some other planets, but a few were dragged away by the orbit of the sun, and some got stuck in orbit. Earth happened to be in the perfect position, and trillions of years later, life began.
wow i went to in depth here didnt i
(Although I prefer day but only if it is raining and the sun is still out. It just looks so cool. But people in the UK such as me don't get to see much else other than rain and clouds.)
Can I correct some things? First off, the universe is only thought to be around 13 billion years old and Earth is only around 4 billion years old so life didn't take trillions of years to happen and Jupiter's gravity hasn't saved us from mass extinction trillions of times. Also according to widely accepted theories Earth and all the other planets formed around where they stand now, they didn't get captured by the Sun's gravitational pull nor Jupiter's. It is thought that there was an gigantic glob of gas floating around and then gravity pulled some gas together and that gas pulled in more gas and so on until it became our Sun, the sun then started to pull on the remaining space glob stuff and it began to rotate around our Sun in a disc and small little rocks in the disc crashed together to create bigger rocks and these crashed together until eventually 4 rocky planets were created. While these rocky planets were being created, farther away from the sun where ice and gas floated around, ice began to collect into 4 little "planets" I guess you could say and then these ice "planets" trapped the gases in their gravitational pull and created the gas giants we see today. But now you say "Well certainly all the mass in that giant disc couldn't have been only in the planets!" and that is very true because all of the extra little "planetesimils" were thrown out of the area in which our planets now reside and created the Oort Cloud which is a collection of all the leftovers from the creation of our solar system. This is a rudimentary explanation of the solar systems creation according to the theories that are taught today in schools.

Well technically both existed simultaneously, for the sun shines on one side of the Earth, but the other side, facing away from the sun has night. When Earth rotates, different sides face the sun causing a day-night cycle. So neither was first, they were both the same.
And btw night is my favorite. It's dark, so you don't need sunglasses. It's also nice, peaceful, and relaxing. It also brings rest...
I've always enjoyed the nighttime. There's not too many people around at this time since most of them are in their houses, so this gives the perfect atmosphere for sereneness.
Sometimes I stargaze in my backyard when I really need to ponder about something.

If all of us give a little bit of something to a good cause, we can help to make that cause happen.
It's hard to prefer one over the other but there are two times in the day that I do quite love provided it is sunny out. First is fairly early in the morning, specifically when the sun has been up for an hour or so. The next is right before the sun goes completely down, specifically when some street lights are on but many aren't (fantastic description, huh?). Kind of like this:
Mostly night, but my favorite time of day, specifically that time just before dusk where the little remaining light casts a glow over everything.
Kind of like this.
There's nothing like taking a stroll down to the local 7/11 at this time, or maybe a quiet drive down to the lake. Or, if you're in Arizona, just stepping out and looking around at the desert.

And who are you, the proud lord said, that I must bow so low?
Only a cat of a different coat, that's all the truth I know.
In a coat of gold or a coat of red, a lion still has claws,
And mine are long and sharp, my lord, as long and sharp as yours.
And so he spoke, and so he spoke, that lord of Castamere,
But now the rains weep o'er his hall, with no one there to hear.
Yes now the rains weep o'er his hall, and not a soul to hear.
Night time is the best. Usually cooler temperatures, starlit skies, the radiant moon. If I could choose one place to live in without any dangers or worries; to make my own reality if you will; it would be a nice grassy plain being overlooked by snowcapped mountains, with a large tree on one of the grassy hills where I can sit under and enjoy a nice cool breeze below a starlit sky surrounding a full moon.

Night time because batman.
Also, neither, because one side of the world faces the sun, one side doesn't.

And most attacks and violence happens at night.
