Extroverts derive their energy from being with other people. They don't like solitude and prefer social interaction. They usually like louder and more stimulating environments.
Introverts, on the other hand, get exhausted from being with too many people at once. They prefer either solitude or deep conversation with only a few people. Introverts usually don't like small talk, and prefer quiet environments.
Ambiverts are a combination of both, or are on the fence.
Shyness does not equal your introversion/extroversion. There are shy extroverts and outgoing introverts. It's just a matter of where you get your energy from. You might not be shy, but if you're an introvert you probably still like to be alone; or you might be shy but prefer environments with a lot of people.
Of course, not everybody is completely an introvert or completely an extrovert. But where do you lean? I'm an introvert.
I'm on a bit of a hiatus from playing Minecraft, so I'm not so active in this forum, either. I still check it though, and participate in a few discussions.
My guess is that most of us will be introverts because we are all spending our time on the computer.

Cue everybody in this thread refusing to say extravert because they think it's a bad thing to be.
No, this is an MCF thread. You're thinking of Tumblr.
I do agree about the ambiversion thing, though. People have introverted and extroverted "modes" that they switch between (as you have to do for basic functions like talking to people or doing work on your own), you don't have to be in one of them +90% of the time to be classified as either type.
To answer the original question, I'm an introvert, though I think the OP might be describing both types in somewhat extreme ways, particularly with extroverts "disliking solitude and craving social interaction" as though they're all attention-seekers and dependent on other people.

Well, I did say that not everybody is completely one or the other. The examples are a little extreme.,

It's quite odd in my opinion - on the internet, introversion seems to be preferred, but in real life, I'd say that extroversion is the "ideal."
In real life, it always seems like extroversion is the "best way to go," while people who prefer solitude or don't like being with a lot of people at once seem to be "pitied." It feels like being able to liking being around lots of people pays of in situations such as getting jobs and all. I don't know - that's just how I perceive it.

There's definitely truth to that. Due to introversion you are alot less likely to network with folks (employers, employees and etc). Extroverts have qualities that make them ideal in certain situations just like Introverts do, but because of stigma associated Introverts people tend to say Extroverts are better (when this is completely false as a productive workplace needs both to be successful).
I am Introvert. There are times where I just want people to leave me alone because I spent the whole day interacting with customers. That and I tend to not have much small talk or avoid it altogether. When I get into the "zone" I tend to zone out things that are not relevant to the task at hand (not purposely or out of spite); this is especially true when I am at work.

Introvert. I can smooze a crowd like the best of them, but I will need a good nap and alone time afterwards. I have gone weeks on remote jobs without seeing or speaking to a soul and it didn't bother me as much as most.
I am mostly introverted to the core, but there are few expressionless extrovert traits I posses. Of course for self preservation I tend to never explain what they are, but they are the ones to which allow me to at least be social at times.
Introvert. Mostly because I only have a group of about 2 actual friends that go to my school, and everyone else either doesn't know I exist/know that I exist and hate me for no reason.
As I expected, Introvert is leaping miles ahead the other two options.
Like many people here, I am an Introvert. I like social contact, I just like it with breaks.

My avatar-Madison Gotha. She knows various weapons, she's a mage/sage, and is somewhat immortal. Madison has the capability of taming and communicating monsters, a genetic trait passed down by her father. 26 physically, 1400-something mentally, and a Lofty Peakian/Zenithian mix. Doesn't really like being called an elf and hates being called human..
I might be Moderator, but don't bother treating me too special. And don't make tons of Ban Hammer jokes, please. Also, I'm an Off-Topic only Mod. Don't ask me to lock a thread or something if it's not in the off-topic
If this thread goes flawlessly you will find there's two extraverts for every introvert.
There is generally a larger presence of introverts on sites like this as extroverts tend to find them disinteresting other than for practical use - especially the off topic section. That's not to say there are likely quite a few extroverts, though.
On topic: I'm an introvert, like most everyone else on this site.

A lonely squid
I'd say this statement is fairly accurate for the majority of the people browsing (as supported by the poll results).
