So I've been thinking about a YouTube name for about a year now. My problem is, I compare myself to people like Tobuscus, PewDiePie, and Markiplier's names and end up hating what I have (that is, what I have that isn't already taken). Could someone help me with ideas? I also would like my name in it if at all possible (name ideas to use are Nic and Jank). I would be posting a little of anything: games, videos, shorts, vlogs, possible cartoons, web series, etc. Over all, I need help because it's killing me! Any ideas?
It's all what you would call, "a good username." I like my name, CanaryCasserole. I like it just because I do. I find it amusing. Some others might not. Try thinking of something that you'd like. No point in making a username that everyone else but you like. You'll hate that username forever.
Basically, the idea of a Youtube name, is to get something as original as possible!
So say your name is Capt_Stone, but the name is already taken, you would have to change your name to Capt_Stone123 which wouldn't attract viewers due to the fact that its a unusual name. (well, the odds will be low unless you have some really, really, really, unusual, entertaining and original content that someone happens to find).
Take Yogscast, PewDiePie, and even Tobuscus as an example. Original names ey?
But then take Chicken-:Man12345xxx as an example.
From this, even if the content from chicken man's is better, the other 3 channels have a higher chance of becoming successful.
I find my channel, NoobzCrew, an ok name, although a little weird :3
It's all up to you dude, just make sure its nothing to complex, it's simple, and its a name to remember!
See, the thing is, everyone has generic english names with gibberish proper nouns and generic common nouns such as productions. To stand out, you really need something exotic and romantic.
Barely anyone will notice a channel named BamaToYaaProductions, there are thousands of channels like that. However, if you name it something exotic such as Je titille castors, you're much more likely to gain a second glance
Some names even have some sort of back story on why it's their name. Take the Yogscast, for example. Their name came from the squad they had back in the day in World of Warcraft. The squad was called the, "Ye Olde Goon Squad." You can have a back story to your username. That makes it a little more personal.
I think you should set your name a little bit simple and formal. The main thing you should focus on is the quality of videos you upload and how you share them to people. Once your channel get popular, with an easy-to-remember name, people will feel easier when mention about your channel.
You can just call me Canary.
