One day my friend got a call saying, "There's something wrong with your PC!" and proceeded to outline steps to "fix" it. The thing was, they don't even have a PC. Nice try, scammers. Also, they wouldn't have been dumb enough to fall for that even if they did have a PC.
For email scams, just remember this rule: large companies such as banks and such will never ask for personal information in an email. They'll always either mail you or call you. But I guess it's harder to tell with calling...

I'm on a bit of a hiatus from playing Minecraft, so I'm not so active in this forum, either. I still check it though, and participate in a few discussions.
I receive at least a couple of the various "You have won" or "Yo computer has dem virusez" scams a day, they all get filtered straight to my spam inbox thanks to Gmail.
This arrived a couple of hours ago:
The stupidest I ever saw was one where they had used periods instead of spaces, so the....whole....email....looked....like....this. I suspect they somehow broke the spacebar on their computer.

would an IRL scam count, like not a "congratz u wun 100000 dolanz clik heer to claim"
because in my area of the US there is an apparent scam where people would get carjacked after taking 100 dollars off their windshield (i have no idea how that works)
Most pathetic scam EVER: Congrats you are the 1000000th visitor to this site click here to claim your prize (virus)
It's really annoying how they shake around and there's, like, 10 of them, so they catch your attention.

Yup, a lot of these scams are aimed at seniors. I remember a few years back my family was helping house an elderly person until her son was able to take care of her (I think he was in college or military). We set up an account on the family computer for her and within an hour of her using it she started complaining about viruses and the computer slowing down. Of course, we found out she was clicking every single "You Won $$$" link she came across. Amazing how this computer can go years with 5 different people using it and no viruses affecting it, but as soon as an elderly person touches it it becomes a host of viruses. It doesn't help she used Internet Explorer...
Those phone scams were someone calls saying they're from Microsoft and they need to get access to your computer because they think you have a virus. They're stupid enough to not check their numbers and they called my office an IT company not once but twice.
I picked up the phone the first time and literally said, "Hey, do me a favor: scam harder."
The second time my superior picked up the phone did a hilarious thing where he put him on the hold to get into contact with the FBI. My superior then took him off hold and was saying something along the lines of "Ok hold on a sec I am going to get the FBI and we can have a conference call." The guy on the other end started going "Screw you! You can't do nothing! You can't do nothing!" and hangs up the phone.

Seriously?
I would just like to take a moment to hate on the ads that have fake "x" out buttons that immediately start some random download.
And who are you, the proud lord said, that I must bow so low?
Only a cat of a different coat, that's all the truth I know.
In a coat of gold or a coat of red, a lion still has claws,
And mine are long and sharp, my lord, as long and sharp as yours.
And so he spoke, and so he spoke, that lord of Castamere,
But now the rains weep o'er his hall, with no one there to hear.
Yes now the rains weep o'er his hall, and not a soul to hear.
Let's see, I have been the one millionth visitor about 67 times...

Also, all I can think of now is that one Cyanide and Happiness video.
Someone read the "Hypochondriac's pocket guide to horrible diseases you probably already have"
don't click this link...
"Anna is calling" or "Maria is calling" and stuff like that. It shows a picture of a Skype call and a women as her profile picture.
Who the heck is Anna, and why on earth is she calling me via website?!
