Here I made a graph showing the number of speedrun races on speedrunslive.
As you can see, it has mostly been trending upwards. However, it has dropped in the last 15 months, roughly the period sethbling started showing interest in speedrunning. (His first mention that I am aware of was when he raided AGDQ 2014 after finishing pizza spleef) Seeing as sethbling is popular, (got his gold buddon), and that people took negatively to him trying SMW speedrunning, could that have turned more people down than people decide to do it?
I really want to see discussion here and it's been a few weeks with no replies. I think it's safe to say this got buried. I am going to provide extra information so this post isn't simply a bump.
Speedrunslive is a speedrunning community in which people race against eachother in video games. This community has been developing for quite a while and is popular. Even sethbling tried it out. People took negatively, however, and I believe seth may have been a contributing factor in the SRL crash that has been occurring over the last 2 years. My question is, what do you think about this?
