Battlefield 3 because it just wasn't Battlefield. I've been a Battlefield fan for a long time, but I cannot defend Battlefield 3. Terrible map design, nonsensical class-cutting and merging, 4-man squads, useless vehicles, insanely quick deaths, lack of Commander mode, and a terrible blue filter over everything. Bad Company 2 would have been more worthy of being a numbered sequel, to be honest.
Skyrim because it took away what made The Elder Scrolls such a good series (in my eyes.) Morrowind was a fantastic blend of hardcore RPG and first-person action gameplay. Skyrim is a fairly good first-person action game, just a terribly simple RPG. Removing skill points and classes in favor of proficiencies and perks was a hugely disappointing move. The quests were also boring, especially the main quest. Graphics were terrible, animations are still stiff, voice acting is mostly embarrassing, and everything feels kind of lifeless. They spent a lot of time building such a beautiful landscape, but skimped on everything inhabiting it.
Fallout 3 because of it just being downright bad. Fallout is my favorite series of all time, but I wasn't affected by the sudden change in gameplay style. The problem is, they pretty much screwed everything up.
Stats aren't as important as any other RPG (it's easy to kill someone with a pistol without much small guns skill, and it's INSANELY easy to kill them with decent small guns skill), VATS is much easier than actually aiming, writing was pathetic, characters are largely 2-dimensional, graphics and voice acting are abysmal, horrible green filter, the wasteland was painfully boring (there was little benefit to actually exploring), the game was much too goofy in some areas (a gun that launches miniature nukes), the Brotherhood was completely changed into cookie-cutter good guys (who have a robot that throws nuclear bombs like footballs), the main quest does not pick up until the last minutes of the game (and even then, it's not good), and it overall felt much too detached from the series, in more ways than the gameplay.
Xenosaga Episode 1 - I like it but it just wasn't as good as Xenogears and Xenoblade. The story felt too convoluted and didn't know what was going on some of the time. I mean, the story was pretty straightforward but some of the lore/concepts were just wacky. Looks like they were just setting up things for the next games, so hopefully 2 and 3 answer a few questions.
DayZ - awful controls, serverside lag, inconsistent AI. God this game could have been so good.
Half-Life 1/2 - After all the hype I heard about them on the internet, they really didn't live up to it.
Fallout 3 - maybe it's because I played New Vegas first, but the environments, story, and characters all seemed really dull.
Far Cry 2 - The game engine was bloody fantastic, but the gameplay mechanics and characters were really disinteresting (and honestly quite irritating after a while).

Force unleashed 2. Force unleashed 1 was really fun, personally I loved how some things were hard. But then, in the second one, it was basically "Murder simulator". I didnt have to do anything to really win, and it also seemed very very short. Along with that, it basically said "Hey, you remember the story line? Yeah, we don't. Lets just throw a couple plot twists in and call it good." If only I had known...
Skyrim. While the core game is amazing, i hate the dragons. It feels like to me, BE WARRIOR OR DIE DRAGON BURN MWAHA.
I dunno.
I was just overall disappointed in Skyrim, but maybe it's because i'm used to Oblivion, where you have to make the big decisions in the start, unlike Skyrim where you just go with it.
Finally! Someone that knows what they're talking about when it comes to Skyrim. I loved the detail, but compared to the content of Oblivion, Skyrim was a walk in the park. Dragons became the same tactic over and over again. The DLC could be worth it, but I wont buy it cause the disappointment overall.
My big disappointment, while some may disagree, is hugely Farcry 3. Seriously. All the crazy, hype, SO MUCH HYPE, for what? A good gameplay, good story, and that's it. Is that worth outrageous hype? When it's come to games lately it's all I've heard about. They raved about the hunting of the game... but once you hunt each animal for 2 pouch (ammo) upgrades, killing the animals is pointless. Hides aren't worth enough to farm, and you don't get xp from them (big laugh). The story is extremely, extremely linear. While the gameplay is not, you can kill in whatever way your heart desires, there is no choice to gameplay, or skills even. That last thing said, the no choice in skills, is extremely disappointing. By the end of the game you have every skill unlocked, a full sleeve of tattoos to show for them. There's no customization to the game at all, besides how you kill. Which is fun at first... but you can only kill in so many ways. And trust me, by the end of this game, you will of found them all to have kept entertained.
I'm a extremely harsh critic though, I'll admit. The game is "fun", just wasn't what I was expecting from all the hype.
I do recommend people to play it, just after the price drops. It's worth 30$, imo.

-Snip about Farcry 3
Well thank you
But I actually loved Far Cry 3. I don't know if i'm willing to 100% it, like I was planning on, but it was still a really good game that I'll go back and play plenty. Then there's the online multiplayer, which pretty much got me back into FPS :3

Agreed. Far Cry was awesome, but it needed a much more expansive crafting system to be worth it. Still an amazing game without it, but once you get 1/4th of the way through, the reason to bother with it kind of shrivels away and you're left with an (albeit nice) campaign.

i5 4670k @ 4.9GHz - Stock Heatsink - The rest is melted silicon but I think I have a graphics card in there somewhere It surprises me how many people on this forum can't read benchmarks.
Fallout 3 and Skyrim. Maybe my expectations were too high for both but they just seemed to promise far more than they delivered.
Skyrim is beautiful and with the treehouse mod I actually like to just sit on the balcony and watch the world go by, but the actual gameplay just didn't resonate with me.

Once I hit the South Island I was extremely let down. One what happens with Vaas happens, it seems... meh.

Does it have good replay value after being beaten? I'm about to finish it when I get the feel for it again, it wore a bit dull on me after so many undetected outpost liberations, lol. Became obsessed with Ninja Step, and the 1500xp reward.
I did like the game a lot, I can't blame it for the disappointment. Guess it was mainly the media who hyped it up so much. Saw many 10 reviews, which in my eye, there is no 10 video game because it would have to be 'perfect'. Farcry 3 was amazing, but not perfect.
On a side note, I know Duke Nukem: Forever sucks, but oh my, I paid 5$ for it and I can't complain. The naughty jokes, stupidly overpowered weapons, and all the other great nostalgia from Duke back in the day makes for a great night of intoxicated laughs.

I believe so, but i actually pretty much did strictly the main quest. I did the Radio Towers and some Outposts, but hardly any Supply Drop, Wanted Dead, etc quests. So i have a lot still to do.

Oblivion - Gets repetitive and boring very soon. Nothing special about it, I don't know why gamers even like the game. I guess because it is open world. Nobody plays it because of the story. Plus it is very dumbed down from Morrowind.
GTA IV - Sames as oblivion, missions boring and repetitive, boring main character etc.
Diablo III - This one speaks for itself.
Skyrim - Even more dumbed down than Oblivion, Skyrim is as much of an RPG as is GTA IV.
I bought Oblivion today haven't played it, hope it's just you
I have GTA IV - Failed to have found any missions yet :3 I still like GTA SA better
Wash that slanderous filth out your mouth sir. Right now, they are both excellent games, although Skyrim was marred by some serious bugs at first, I hear most of them have been fixed now.
My personal most disappointing game was TES3: Morrowind....so bad.
You may be the first person I've seen praise Oblivion in a long time.
Something tells me that you expected Morrowind to be simple and easy like Skyrim, where you can wield any old weapon and still come out on top in a fight.

Would Oblivion be good for a new comer (me) and who doesn't really look for something truly amazing
Probably the game that disappointed me most was The Sims 3 on PS3. I had played the older Sims games on PS2 (loved them) and played The Sims 3 on PC (loved it).
I was expecting a solid game comparable to the PC version..... I was wrong.....
On PC, it was open world, on console, the map was drastically different and the cells were split up.... which killed the game on its own because much of the game was spent between cells, collecting meteorites&ores, finding bugs&butterflies, ect. It was just fun to explore freely.
The game didn't allow controlling the characters directly, despite that being a feature of The Sims 2, and a very needed/justified feature for consoles.
Because I was so disappointed, I went to return the game to Walmart.... only they don't accept returns on games.... I haven't bought a game from Walmart since.....

I loved Oblivion. I played it on PS3 (it was one of my 1st games), it didn't seem too buggy, and the gameplay was fun. It was the second game I played most, only coming after Minecraft (surprise surprise). I like the storyline, items, and world, too.
I tried Morrowind and didn't mind it, except for the fact that it takes a while to actually SURVIVE in a battle (not only are you really weak in the beginning, you actually have only a low chance to even HIT the enemy). I started my game running around avoiding most things (except for the Kwarma foragers sometimes), looking for something significant. I came across this castle, and got trapped on a save there because there was a cliff racer outside and it kept killing me. I had to load the save about 11 times before I could actually outrun it and survive.

Well, I guess everyone is entitled to their own opinion. I personally really like the challenge in Morrowind, but I can definitely see how it would turn some people off. If I remember correctly, Morrowind goes off of a "roll" system to determine hits and misses.

If you're a fan of RPGs, sure. It's not as, uh... "hardcore" as a lot of older RPGs (like Morrowind, Daggerfall, the old Fallout games, etc.)
