The other day I was talking with a friend about my PlayStation 2 and how I've had it since I was 3- that's ten years. He was somewhat surprised about the durability of the console and even more so when I told him it recently fell about five feet and was 100% intact. I swear, that thing is super durable! So, how long have your PS2s lasted?
I forget when I got mine (edit: I'm assuming around 2003 since I've got a copy of NCAA Football 2004 in my collection), but I've had it for quite awhile. Most consoles last awhile... heck, my old Game Gear still works (and still guzzles through batteries), played a bit of NFL '95 a few months ago when the power went out. I hate to say it, but the only systems I've had trouble with are the Xbox 360 and PC.
Mine still works fine, don't know how long I've had it for though. Personally I've never had a system stop working yet only the controllers stop working for me after a while. My Sega Genesis still works even if none of its controllers do.
My PS2 is 10-11 years old and has never had any problems. I used to play it a lot, but have rarely used it in the past 6 years and it still works fine when I do.

I've had my PS2 for 10 years. Never had any problems apart from the S-Video cable that was sort of broken inside the insulator. Got a new one and it's working fine again.
I got mine on my 12th birthday which is just under a month after release in America. It still works to this date but I also have a 2nd one when my friend gave me his when he got a PS3. I play on his now and keep mine safely stored away so it will last. It has been through some rough times too. Fell off my shelf least once, a soda stain and pizza stain on the cover but still works like new!
Japanese release console (import) - still going on 12+ years
US 1yr after release console - had to replace the laser (easy fix), still going well though 11 years later
US slim console around 2 years after release - still going on ~6 years strong.
A long time.

Dropped multiple times off a desk.
My original PS1 also still works fine again from Launch

So it lasts a while, apparently!
