Unfortunately the PC that I was using to code this has recently broken down beyond repair. I will be using the same hard drive when I build my new computer later in October, however it is highly likely that I will lose everything that I have done for this game. If this it the case, then I will remake it at some point in the future but certainly not right away.
Hello!
Today, I present to you a game that I have been working on for about 2 weeks now.
I've had the idea of it in my head for quite a long time and have recently decided to start working on it (I have a nasty habit of not finishing projects, so I feel as if aslong as I tell people about it that I'll be motivated).
The basic idea
It's a game with both singleplayer and multiplayer that revolves around survival. It isn't a case of "kill 100s of zombies and get rewarded" it's more a case of "avoid zombies and live". There is a permadeath system, so if you die your character is lost forever. It's retro graphics and easy to use controls aim to make it very approachable whilst still maintaining a high level of difficulty for even the most experienced of gamers.
Planned Features
Retro Zombie Apocalypse survival
Emphasis on survival over fighting
Multiplayer and singleplayer
HATS (I have a section of the code atm called "hat logic".)
Free To Play
Many different items to collect
A huge, explorable world (that is constantly updated)
Frequent updates (Similar to how Minecraft updates)
Texture pack support
Current Version: Pre-alpha v0.1
I feel the need to note the following; Graphics are placeholder (looking for an artist, feel free to contact if interested), the way that the world map is displayed is randomly generated (this is temporary whilst I create a world editor), barely anything is complete, there are no weapons as of yet, there are a ton of bugs and glitches
Download Link coming when I can get access to my computer (problem with the charger, using an old laptop for now)
Screenshots;
So yes, this is something that I am working on.
Please tell me if any of you would be interested in this
From what I've heard it's quite similar to Java. I mean, that may not be the case, but that's what my mate (who codes Java) told me after looking at some of my code.
If you could possibly make a youtube channel giving updates i would glady subsribe-im also reall yintrested in your ideas for the game mainly if yourgoing to add a realistic levelling system i.e stamina, cooking, etc
Ah, good idea!
I will set that up later today, and yes! Cooking! Great idea!
It's a great concept, though a bit unoriginal. I like the twists you put on it, though.
Personally, i don't like permadeath, but a nice twist nonetheless
I like the idea, but I think instead of an huge explorable world, randomly generated ones are much better.
Take rogue survivor for example. Every new game is a different experience, which adds greatly gameplay-wise.
Also, what type of artist are you looking for, are you going for pixel artistry, or hd ones(I am great at pixel artistry, not so much on Hd)
Edit:
For instance, the characters could look like this ingame:
(ignore the legs, this was done way to fast for me to struggle to get the damn legs right, they are my weakness )
EDDDDDIT:
If you want any other ideas/help that does not involve coding, I can provide assistance aswell
Like saying that zombies are overrated and that a new concept should be made, zombies aren't actually a threat in real life since they would be slow and thus easy to kill, but rather some sort of other weird manifestations would suffice(like lets say, a worm like human, head of worm, arms and torso of human, legs replaced with slimy torso of a worm .
Then enemies can be much more of a threat, aswell as the fact the game will be something new, fresh and awesome, even if it is free to play
Instead of forcing the player to run, make them wanna run, for instance:
Would you really want to fight this thing? No, you would rather run away from it as far as possible, because its got tongues, arms and no legs, super freaky and ultra creepy

I could take the idea that "The War Z" uses, in which the user chooses between "Hardcore mode" and "Normal mode". Hardcore mode has permadeath but you spawn with a gun, Normal mode locks you out of your character for 24 hours.

The only problem with this is that I do not currently possess a good enough knowledge to make the levels truly random; I could easily code in some biomes, a few different village / town layouts, forests, etc. I'll think about it, it would actually make the coding a hell of a lot easier and I could easily add support for custom-biomes which would make it a lot better for modders.

I love this...instead of Zombies perhaps an apocalypse caused by SCP's...hmm, I'll think about this, you're definitely on to something.
And yes that is perfect!
There will be quite a bit to do, though, so you'll have to tell me if you're up to being relied on for graphics for BitZ.
I'm up for anything that can get my lazy ass of the internet and focused on some work
Ahahahahahaha, alright mate thanks!
I won't ask you to do anything until I've got a download link up so that you (and everyone else) can get a look at how the game works. (Even if it is in Pre-Alpha and barely anything is done xD)
-Buildings when you enter them the visibility is based on the windows where the sun is (the time of day)
-Not knowing anything about the enemy maybe have a journal where you character writes in when he sees the diffrent behaviours of the zombies/muttations and maybe be able to get a picture in ther if he finds a camera?
Hey, this idea looks AWESOME! If you need some help with anything (not coding, I'm learning that ATM) you can contact me. I've seen the screenshots, and I'm pretty good with pixel stuff!
- I've owned a skin shop with 150+ Satisfied customers
- I'm into making pixel character etc.
So, I really wanna help! and btw, the SCP idea is GREAT! We have alot of zombie games and stuff, but noone caugth my eyes this far (cept zomboid) and your game. I really like the above perspective, and a SCP outbreak is cool, cuz as I mentioned, Z-games are so mainstream atm...

What are you making it in?
C# / XNA
And thanks!
I don't know any C# or XNA sadly. But good luck!

And thanks, it means a lot!
