Minecraft. It's not bad but for a game that is featured on youtube a lot and whose developers are praised like gods it's simply not that good.
Oh yeah? Name any other game where you can build a computer, create/play through a custom adventure thought up by some random guy, recreate any structure in existence, start a livestock/agricultural farm, fight your friends to the death, build a cannon, completely alter the entire map any way you see fit, build a statue, create a work of art, dig through caves in search of diamonds, visit hell, visit an alternate dimension where you fight a dragon, slaughter creatures of the night, then come home and bake a cake.
And that's just the plain old vanilla base of the game. (Not to mention I surely forgot countless other things you can do.) With mods, you can pretty much do anything you ever wanted to do in a videogame.
I find a variety of games over-rated, but I also really like these games. It's just the hype that the advertisers and community gives them which makes the seem over-rated when they are played or released...
Slender - Supposedly the scariest game ever. Not really. Maybe the first time, if you've never seen it before.
GTA IV - I do like this game, but I think people take it to seriously sometimes which makes it feel a bit overrated.
Dead Island - The hype for this game was amazing. I must say I was really looking forward to it as well, the trailer made it look amazing. But, when a trailer is that good, it is probably hard to live up to. Especially, if the game is full of glitches and bugs which make the game feel awkward to play...
That's my list!
First guy I completely agree with on this thread. Slender is pretty lame, the Condemned games are much scarier. GTA IV is a pretty good game, I love it for the nice graphics and much improved physics, especially driving. But, for its time, San Andreas was a lot better, basically because there were a million things to do, it never got old. And Dead Island... Dead Island is just horrendous.
My personal opinion on the most overrated game... hmmm... it's probably a tossup between Dead Island and Saints: The Third.
Probably Call Of Duty is over rated. Before I bought MV3 it I played COD4 MV1 and i did not see a difference. Furthermore multiplayer is full of hackers with fake names on which you can't report. If I bought the game not on discount I could feel really bad about this purchase.

Probably roblox.
Except that in roblox, you can create scripts and achieve what a computer in minecraft(built in several days) can do in a matter of minutes.
Also, you can create your own livestock how you want them, as well as your very own creatures of the night.
And you can build hell.
And you can build an alternate dimension, dragon and all.
It makes me so mad how shitty roblox's community is.

I would say Angry Birds and MW3.
Angry Birds is fun, but it has kept the same formula for almost 2 years, and has rarely added anything new. And the merchandise is EVERYWHERE.
MW3 is just too overrated. That is all.
Angry Birds is a popular casual game. I don't think it can be "overrated". It's not like there are people who worship the game.
MW3, however, that's a given.
I REALLY disagree with GOW, one of my favourite games.
Yeah I agree. I game can't be considered overrated just because other games copied it.

No, there has never, ever been a sandbox game with a story or ending... except Grand Theft Auto... and Saints Row... and Red Dead Redemption... and Crack Down... and Assassins Creed...
Probably roblox.

I'd add blockland but that game stopped being any good once the kids took over. So it really was only good from 2004~2006.

In gmod you can do just about all of those things (not sure about inter dimensional gates though)

I'm just a regular kid who likes to play games. 'nuff said.
ComputerCraft is really cool, but it doesn't even compare to raw programming.
I'm not sure what you mean by "raw" programming. If you're talking about low-level programming, Roblox doesn't have that. I just watched a coding video for Roblox, and it was someone using some sort of high-level programming language that I didn't recognize. I dug deeper and found out it was a modified version of a language called Lua.
When you build a redstone computer, you don't have the convenience of using high-level programming languages. You're forced to use the most basic of machine code to write programs. You have to manually hard code 1's and 0's directly into the CPU's program memory, selecting which location of RAM to write to and read from, and when it has to do so. You must instruct the ALU when to accept data, what to do with it, and where to send it afterwards. The whole purpose of high-level languages is to remove the need to program these very specific functions that we often take for granted.
>henious and tedious activities to get to first dungeon
>get through said dungeon in a few minutes
>easy boss
>tedious and repetitive task
>get to next dungeon
>cutscene
>repeat
>buggy motion controls
>constant recalibration
>barely orchestrated music
>half-assed plot
>shooting the original fanbase (1987~1999) in the balls
>horrible graphics (ani) that somehow seem to be much worse than oot's
>stupid animals
>lack of enemy variety
>lack of socialization
>lack of exploration or area
>more cel-shaded garbage
>link is yet again, geared towards both boys and girls
>Fanbase
Yes, as a Zelda fan I can personally say that the only part I enjoyed about the game was the side-quests, they had several interesting side quests in the game that I spent time doing. The sheer amount of wiimote movement you had to do made the game very hard, as you constantly had to re-calibrate your wiimote made it rather annoying.

Honestly, you're the first zelda fan who doesn't scream at me. Thank you
Skyrim and Fallout 3 are grossly overrated, in my opinion. I'm a fan of both series, Fallout 2 being my favorite game, but both of them are pretty mediocre.
Gran Turismo 5. Oh my god, the hype that was built up a few years ago for that and it flopped badly, yet all the fanboys are still praising it. I am a HUGE raceing game fan, and I know a mediocre racing game when I see one. Also Need For Speed is overrated. Its only got more attention now that Criterion are heading the development. Back to GT5, the game was downright horrible, sure the gameplay was okay, but I didnt feel as connected to the car as I did in FM3/4 I used a steering wheel for GT5 when I played it at my mates place. Force feedback and all, and I still didnt feel the connection. Need For Speed seems too much out of its element nowdays, EA are trying to develop the game further but BlackBox I think get confused between what they want and what the fans want. I am happy that Criterion decided to re-create Most Wanted because it might show BlackBox what to do.

Solution: Download ComputerCraft. BLAAAM!!!
Somalia. Because it puts the ARRRR in anarchy! DOHOHOHOHOHOHOHOOH.

And IMO the Pokémon games after the GBA era. (I.e. DS and TV Console era and up.)
Venit, quessit, induravit.

You do have a point there. Gmod is the original redstone, but you can't really call it a game since it's just a Half-Life mod.
Honestly, you're the first zelda fan who doesn't scream at me. Thank you
Cats.
