Why the heck would they do a stress test when everyone in the US will be at work? Sure, they can stress their EU servers at those times, but why not get all of them?
EU has a larger PC community and its later for them always has but either way all I know is from 1pm - 8pm I will be in GW2 again then refresh my withdraws cycle.

Indeed..... I don't really understand this at all.
It's just going to tick off all the adults with real jobs who wanted to play in a beta... and, of course, it also doesn't make much sense to "stress test" when most people can't get on.
I'm guessing since there will be lower than average population playing (since most ppl will be at work), they will only put up only one cluster of their servers, to find out the threshold of a single server cluster. I've seen companies do that before.
If this is true then you will probably see less "servers" available to choose from when you log in then the number they had in the last beta.
...And if that's not correct, then I don't think they are really doing a stress test...
Maybe they are trying to check the possible amount of 'jobless people' who will play the game? *shrug*
Just a friendly reminder about the stress test starting in a few hours.
One of the benefits from working from home is being able to take some time to do these sorts of things. That, and releases like Diablo III tomorrow. Hopefully you guys out there can get in on at least some of the fun.
Took me a few days to download the entire (15GB?) client, but I finally got it... Just so I could have an hour or two when I get home tonight...... lol
Honestly should not seem worth it but for some reason it still seems worth it to me.
Edit:
That is... assuming the servers won't crash when everyone gets off work and tries to get on at the same time... *sigh*
I just checked the website and it looks like the second Beta event will be June 8th.
That means I can finally be in the beta, yay!... I'll be gone this entire weekend, so I'm happy they chose the 8th. Otherwise I'd have to wait another month.
No Asura or Sylvari from the sounds of it, though. I was hoping to try them out... but I guess we'll have to wait some more.
I will say that this beta has so far been way smoother than any other I've ever been in. The number of bugs in the game is extremely low. It looks like the developers mainly just need to flesh out content and make some tweaks to gameplay for things like PvP rewards and whatnot.
I'm also hugely impressed by the way the game has you interacting with others. It's usually so incredibly rare to see ad hoc cooperation between MMO players, but it happens all the time in Guild Wars even without use of the party mechanic. People will just randomly band together to complete a task without requiring any sort of organizational effort. It's helped to make the playing experience easily the best I've had in any MMO.
Sadly, I'll be out of town all weekend. Oh well, I was probably going to wait until I could play an asura anyway. Those guys are freakin' sweet.
That was my problem if they had held it this weekend! So I know how you feel...
But yeah, I was also hoping for the Asura, too.... I am usually not interested in playing freakish little gnomes in games, but I can definitely say that Guild Wars did an awesome job at creating a gnome-like race. I wasn't interested in them at first, but the more I looked into them the more I loved them.
Release date overall, and for special orders such as pre purchases and pre order
Beta Weekend Event July 20th-22nd
So close I can taste it and personally will be glued to this for the rest of the year and possibly all of next year as well I hope everyone gives it a try at least and have the best experience they ever had.
Question: Can you play it before the official release if you pre-purchase it at a shop? So, the beta-events and the 3 days before the official release.
As long as its pre purchase and not pre order that is correct. I recall when pre purchases went live you go to a store you buy the game $60 charged at the moment and you get a code either on the receipt for US or a box with no disk in UK. With that code you can go and register it to your account and can be considered a Pre-purchased account allowing access to all BWEs and 3 day early deal.
But if you pre order and not pre purchase which means you drop $5 or whatever reserving a game on launch day cost for that store you will be eligible to have the 1 day early access.
Curse GW2 Beta key Give away on the 10th. Premium members get one for sure, general members can sign up and try. Since GW2guru is also part of curse network it will be full the moment the sign up begins so better be ready when it starts. If you want one of the few last chances to get into a Beta Weekend Event here it is.
Just FYI, July 20-22nd is the next, and final, Beta Event.
They just announced today that the Asura and Sylvari races will be playable for the next event.
The game will officially release on August 28th... For those of us who have the 3-day headstart, that means it will be playable on August 25th.
So it sounds like the next event will be close to what the full game should be like.... Hopefully they have fixed most of the problems by now.
Edit: Just thought I would bold the important information, so if anyone repeats it later we will know that they can't read.
I'm new with beta mmorpgs, but if I'm in the beta, will i have access to the full game once it's released or not?
EDIT: If I do need to buy the game, when does the beta access end?
And one more question: I'm going to get a key tomorrow, so will I be able to play 24/7 anytime or only on the beta event weekends?
Thanks (:
If you have a Beta Key from some kind of give away you will only be able to participate in the upcoming Beta Weekend Event. The content that is in the BWE is limited for everyone to level 20, full game goes to level 80. The Beta weekend event lasts as long for everyone which is 20-22nd.
Depending on how you go about purchasing the game you will be able to play the game when it releases next month. Pre purchase allows access to a 3 day headstart which begins on the 25th, Pre-ordering the game allows access to a 1 day headstart which is on the 27th or just purchasing it when it release allows you to play the game on the 28th.
But to have access to the full game on launch you will need to purchase the game in order to play. Having a beta key does not give you a free copy of it. And unlike other MMORPGs Guild Wars 2 does not have a subscription fee to pay monthly as other MMORPGs have so you will only need to buy the game and you can play as long as you want.
The content that is in the BWE is limited for everyone to level 20, full game goes to level 80.
They raised that limit last Beta. I'm not sure what the limit is now, but I remember they talked about people trying out the level 30 areas and whatnot in one of the 'dev blogs' / news updates.
Of course I only got to level 5 when I played in the last 2 betas... So I don't know how people could manage to even get to 20...
I think you'd be lucky to get to level 10 in a single beta, if you started now.
Of course, you can always try out 'being level 80' by joining the PvP areas. You are instantly upgraded to lvl 80 (with equipment) when you do "structured PvP" (Team vs Team).
No it doesn't have that. The game is orientated around PvP anyways
The game is not pvp oriented. It is what you choose it to be. You can play pvp the entire time and never step foot into pve. You can do the same thing with pve, where you only play that, and never step foot into pvp. Sorry, but this was a little misleading.

I plan for my first character to be an Asura. ;D
