Hey, I have a question that's been haunting me. For Christmas, I'm asking my parents for either a PS3 or a 360. Which should I get? I know PS3 has free Wifi, the hardware is better overall, and the BluRay player is fantastic, but more of my friends play online on the Xbox, and there are some exclusives that look interesting, Halo, for example. Would really love some help with this!
PS3 has metal gear solid and uncharted whereas xbox has halo and gears of war. I would choose ps3 though, halo is alright but I think that the free internet and the rest overall makes ps3 a clear winner

Depends on what your into, Hardware-PS3 Multiplayer-360. Even though you pay for multiplayer on the 360 overall it's better than PS3's.
PS3 free wifi? If you mean built in wireless, the most recent model of the xbox has that. Also, xbox software is going to be updated soon, it will include skype, bing, youtube. I know PS3 already has an internet browser + youtube support but that was designed a while back and in my opinion is now slightly out of date. I don't think you can decide on what one to get simply based on what games are available, if you would prefer graphics then definitely go for the PS3. For a better online experience, go for Xbox. I own both and I prefer xbox but I like to think of it like this -
PS3 - built with hardware in mind
Xbox - built with the internet in mind
By free wifi, I mean you don't have to pay $50 a year to play online.
Xbox 360.
Pros:No Downtime
Hackers kept out due to being a paid service via tricks like console and IP bans.
Now even quieter with a lesser chance of RRoD with new model
Clearer Headset Quality
Xbox Live Parties
The fact that you won't have to download your stuff. TWICE.(PSN can't do data compress.)
Controller is Versatile for PC as it has an official Controller/Wireless Adapter bundle for Games for Windows
Lots of Indie games only for the 360, Old Arcade Gems such as the Original Contra.(This means there is WAAAY more exclusives.)
Comes with Headset
Cons:
You will need to pay after your first month for online(This also helps keep hackers out.)
Sometimes disks can burn out(Rare)
No more Online Support for original Xbox Games
You will have to buy your own charger if your low quality batteries die out quickly.
If you find kids on FPSs, you might need to mute em.
PS3:
Pros: Charger comes on the fly
Has more exclusive disk games
Shared Games on any console your account is on
Blu Ray for more durable disks and memory.
No Online Fees except for premium content.
Cons:
Online Library is low
Controller is a rehash of all the rest, pretty much look identical except the DualShock 3 is wireless.
There are more hackers.
Does not come with it's own headset.
OtherOS removed.
Sony can literally remove whatever they want from your hard drive via preinstalled program that can sadly not be turned off.
PSN may need to go offline from time to time for maintainance or Anonymous making another house call.
Wait, 360 comes with a headset? That actually is really helpful for me, as I don't have one yet, is the quality of the headset good? Also, does it come with the 4gb version? Also, what do you mean discs can burn out?
There is a reason to PS3 having Free Online. The connection is garbage, PS3 get's hacked(several times already), it is partnered with Sony, which sucks.
Xbox has good secure stable Online. It cost you, but you get your full experience. Xbox has Halo and Gears of War. That alone is enough to win someone over. Also, it's run by Microsoft. <3
PS3 doesn't really have that many system problems that I know of, 360 get's RRoD and tends to break if you don't take good care of it. The community on Xbox is basically filtered, and there is usually a more mature audience. With PS3 having Free Internet, all the little 5-9 year olds are spamming your favorite games.
PS3 has pretty nice games like Heavy Rain and Uncharted. Also, the BluRay is pretty sweet.
I would still prefer the 360. I grew up with it, and all in all, think about it, if PS3 didn't have Free-Online, a good 60%+ would switch to Xbox. PS3 is a, Play and Wreck.
Xbox is more of a, Play, Communicate, Have Fun, Together, type of thing. It is more of a community.

I agree but... If everybody gets along? Where would you get all the good RAGEQUIT videos? :biggrin.gif:
Yes
You dont have to buy a new computer every few years, you just keep updating certain hardware (Graphics ect) and have you ever heard of red ring of death on a pc, or a portable 360/ps3 (My laptop can run most games)

the ps3 is over all a better value

Only because computers are upgradeable. In the long run you'll pay more for playing on the PC compared to playing on a console.

Xbox got hacked as well, at least Sony cared enough to shut it down so no one would get hacked, AND gave them free games and gave PS+ for a month.....

You get more for your money if you get a PS3. You pay once. (Unless of course, you want map packs.)
