The categories also represent all their related games by the same company. So Starcraft would include Starcraft 2. (saving space) They were both great games anyway :smile.gif:
StarCraft, Zelda, Mario, Mount and Blade: Warband, S.T.A.L.K.E.R., and Half Life.
StarCraft and Brood War were great, but StarCraft II let me down story-wise. The entire thing was more predictable than a medical drama.
The DS Zelda titles are terrible, but I don't have enough experience with them to go in-depth, I just don't like them. At all.
Mario's earlier titles were better, now it's becoming as rehashy as CoD.
Mount and Blade: Warband is good fun, but I feel that it could've been more open (Though Native Expansion helps).
S.T.A.L.K.E.R. is great, but I could do without the ghosts and such. I got to the first part where there were ghosts, and quit. I don't like dealing with invisible enemies while having tactical gunfights with the military. I ended up starting a new game and haven't been progressing the storyline, just shooting up the military and scavenging for my life.
Half Life (As in the first game) was great. Some parts were frustrating, but I kept going through until I figured it out. At one point, I admit I had to glance at a walkthrough, because I didn't shoot up enough of the room to find the path. Platforming sections were great for a first person shooter. I spent most of the game at less than 25HP at a given time because every time I got my health back, I went and did something unintentionally stupid.
However, Half Life 2, Ep 1 and Ep 2 could use some serious improvement. Whereas the first game was a linear "puzzle" shooter, the second game (and Episodes) was a linear shoot 'em up. I feel that there was too much health to make me think things through for too long, and the zombies were used way too much. I'm sorry, just because I went through Ravenholm doesn't mean I have to keep dealing with that many zombies at once, in every section of the game. The first Antlion area was also obnoxious for the same reason as zombies. They didn't scare me in any way, they just annoyed me. The dialogue was also horrendously predictable. Alyx's lines at any point of the game consisted of "Oh God, [NAME], I thought... You're right, I shouldn't have worried." and "[NAME]!" The only portions of dialogue that interested me was speaking to Eli about GMAN and speaking to the Vortigaunts. And don't get me started on the squad AI.
That said, HL is a good series, but needs better dialogue writers, apparently. And AI. Better AI. The zombies had better AI than the rebels.
I don't think the source engine games should all be grouped together, I mean they're all far superior to most of the other games in that list, so grouping them together will just put the rest at an even higher disadvantage.
But until then, I'll vote Minecraft and Oblivion.
on topic my favorite game isnt on the poll but its Super smash bros melee
