I have been a long time battlefield fan and here is what i am seeing in the growing community. :wink.gif:
Ever since DICE showed footage of Battlefield 3, I noticed that a lot of COD players are turning towards it for very odd reasons, some i don't even understand. When i started viewing several videos on it, people were always saying MW3 was gonna suck and Battlefield is gonna be the killer. While this is most likely true, will they actually like BF3 or is just because more people are gonna play it than Modern Warfare.
Most of them said just for the graphics, And that Battlefield is where it's at. This is kind of a weird reason to like a game.:tongue.gif:
Now i am actually getting scared of what the community will be like in the future because by the release date, there will be a bunch of COD Noob-Tubers playing like a bunch of Rambo soldiers. They will run all over the streets using knives and shotguns just for the hell of it. :laugh.gif:
I have to admit that it will be fun but also become annoying after a while if that happens. (you know, being cussed at by little kids cause they killed you with a Gernade Launcher.)
CoD is, as it's been said on a more recent topic about CoD, the training wheels for people new to FPSs. Battlefield is more of an 'advanced' FPS. It has more realism, misc interaction(blowing up buildings.) and it requires more skills that just GIVING you the kills. E.g. you cant' 360 no scope in Battlefield. You actually have to go prone, or however you do it, search around for your target(s) then shoot them. You can't really do that in CoD, because by the time you find a target, well, actually, you'd probably already be dead. It's extremely easy to see someone in CoD. Battlefield will only be the next game for people who want to move on from CoD or any other game, and try something hard.
The thing is that you CAN'T rambo knife or shotgun spree in Battlefield without exceptional skill. That's why I moved in the first place - I was tired of Commando Pro Marathon combos in MW2. If you run in the streets you get sniped, blown apart by a tank, or gunned down by heavy MG's and Helicopters. If they try to camp RPG's will blow their cover, mortars will be coming down, and carpet bombings will **** you up. No, I am not concerned. Period.
First of all, more people will be playing MW3 than battlefield, not because its better but, no matter how many people decide that BF3 will be a better game the COD name on a case brings in millions of buyers no matter the quality of the game, and the multiplayer fan base is still huge, many times larger than the battlefield fan base. More importantly though is the fact that most COD fans will have a tough time switching to battlefield and will most likely stick with COD after playing it at a friends house or something. The two games cater to two completely different audiences who are looking for much different things in an FPS, Its hard to get used to full scale battles with jets (Gonna be amazing!) overhead, tanks, huge teams, and huge maps if you're used to eight on eight skirmishes. So no, I think our awesome, objective-playing community will stay intact.
