It's only available on PC, first you need to go into Steam (If you haven't made an account do so.), then you go into the tools section of your library. There should be something called Portal 2 Authoring Tools - Beta. Download it and get started! Though it's complexity nearly made my brain melt...
I have a question about the disc version for pc available from amazon. I don't want to buy it from steam cause it would take about 16 hours to download. But, my question is, if I purchase it on amazon, will I need to buy two(one for my friend, and one for me) one one for us to share. Because some pc games require you to put the disc in when you want to play.

first off, don't bump 2 year old threads.
second off, yes, you will need two legal copied of the game to do co-op, not because of the disk, but because the game requires you to have an activation code that is only good on one system at a time.

Proud member of the MCF AWA war of '13! if someone suggests Alienware or Cyberpower, wait for a custom-built list from someone who knows their stuff. Meh Rig
Portal and portal 2 are for PS3
I think portal is in the game "orange box" along with half-life,and team fortress
Just to clear it up, Portal 2 is for PC, Xbox360, and Playstation3, but Portal 1 is just for PC, although there is the recreated version of it for the Xbox360. I'm not sure about the PS3.
