Anyone play it yet? I haven't touched singleplayer yet, only because I haven't beaten the Dead Space 1, but have played multiplayer, and it seems kind of unfair/unbalanced. When your team are the necromorphs, it seems really hard to kill people unless two or more of your team are mauling them at the same time. It also sucks that you can't heal as a necromorph, and your combat isn't as ranged as the humans, unless you play as the spitters, and even then, still not that effective, however it is good for back up support. (Hide on the roof and shoot lol)
Probably when I get more practice I'll be able to use the necromorphs a bit more effectively. Need practice with their execution abilities.
Going to try and beat the first one soon so I can move onto this.

My brother wants to get it, he didn't get it because he says he doesn't have the money for it.
Problem is that he does seems to HAVE the money for it, but he somehow "mysteriously" spend it all on random things.
I already bought LBP2 so I'm not going to buy any other games for a while.
He should decide quickly, because I really recommend buying the game new, otherwise you have to pay $9.99 for the online multiplayer action. (not sure for Xbox) Unless he's not into that, but it's nice to have if you do get tired of the single player mode.

I ordered my copy from Amazon. I could have pre-ordered it from Gamestop and gotten the rivet gun bonus, but Amazon had a 8% discount plus release date delivery for only a dollar. Saving money > In-game item.
I've played it for a couple of hours now, I heard it's a 12 hour single player game. I'm past chapter six I think. It's a really great game, everything you expect from Dead Space except better. They kept the same gameplay from the first game, improved a lot of things and added a few others.
I like how Issac's character talks in this game, it finally adds a sense of personality to him. He doesn't talk too much, but not too little either. Most importantly, he seems human, reacting in a way that many of us would.
Combat is fantastic, much more fluid than in the first game. For my first playthrough I thought I would play on normal just to experience the story and the new gameplay. I beat the first Dead Space on impossible stress free, so I thought this would be a piece of cake. But there have been a couple of big fights that I had to redo multiple times. The increased enemy variety really helps with this; the necromorphs keep you on your toes. Being complacent in this game can really get you killed.
As a Dead Space veteran, the second game isn't scary because I am use to their style of frights. I jumped quite a bit in the beginning, from loud sparks/explosions and flickering lights, but not so much from the actual monsters. I am not saying the Dead Space universe isn't scary, because it is terrifying. But being use to it, it is not as scary for me because I know what to expect.
My overall impression of the game so far is positive. Looking forward to what I haven't experienced yet.
I bought it, my brother will pay me back after Chinese near year money.
Dead Space 2 Multiplayer is surprisingly easy. After a few hours in the single player (chapter 3), I went on multiplayer and was the top player (quick match at level 1) and figured out how to mess with the other players...
Key Notes:
- You always spawn with 1 Stasis and 1 Medkit SO always use them before you die, since it is able to net you more kills.
- Necromorphs are very easy to kill if the latency isn't awful, that and they can see you through walls but they can be predictable when they spawn.
- Always go after the objective, it nets you more points. If the necromorphs just spawn and attacks you endlessly, just carefully kill and pick up medkits then move to objectives.
- All medkits heal FULL health, and they work in a area effect with other players... So if you have a medkit and a player is grabbed, and you healed, it'll buy your team more time.
- Always grab more stasis packs when you see them, stasis are life savers when you know how to aim them. Very useful in places where the opponents runs at you in a group, thus you can freeze them all at once... Aim at the ground sometimes since stasis is like a arrow and can miss a target in midair.
- Learn to use melee, it's not a gun but stomping and whacking sometimes work, especially on Packs (kid necros) and Crawlers (baby necros).
- Learn to recognize enemy types, the packs are deadly in groups, but easy to kill with guns. Crawlers can be sneaky so keep an eye out on ceiling and dark places. Pukers are TOUGH, and won't go down easily... Use a Plasma cutter to cut their legs or use stasis. Spitters are annoying and harasses you with long range fire... Cut their legs or use stasis on them.
- All guns has alt fire, DO NOT FORGET TO USE THEM! Pulse gun is your default weapon and it can fire a round of grenade!
- The plasma cutter may seem weak, but don't underestimate it's effectiveness at cutting off limbs! It works better than the pulse guns when used on larger bi-pedal foes like puker and spitters (they move less eratically so you can target their legs). It's useless on faster targets.
- Lurkers (the baby necros) has a melee attack, but players only prefer to use ranged, don't underestimate it, it works nicely as a way to sneak up on human players and endlessly slash them from the back without them seeing you (you are very small). Humans can only see necromorph names if they are in the center of the screen (aimed at). Also note that you can wall walk with the Circle button and be able to shoot (very very handy).
- The pack's (kid necro) execution ability is done by jumping and attacking, usually when you land on them. It renders a human defenseless and the weaker they are, the better chance you can kill them and live (they will jam the X/A button to get you off).
- The Puker is surprisingly tough, so take advantage of that by sprinting into humans by flanking them and unleashing a barrage of melee swipes. 4 seconds of swipes can bring them down to red easily and kills them if they don't use stasis on you (stick close to them and circle them while attacking, it works)
- The Spitter is usually the camping necromorph, and on some open levels, they camp your spawn. I typically avoid using them because I don't like using long range and being limited in mobility (that can be slow).
Those are some great tips. I always forget to use stasis and secondary fire, partially because I forget the controls as I jump from game to game.
I received my rivet gun code today and god is it awful. I prefer using my plasma cutter. Rivet gun is strong if you can land a hit, and it only has a single dot for aiming, and if your enemy is quick, chances of hitting it are slim. I haven't used its secondary fire yet, but I imagine it's strong too.
I'm trying to get through Dead Space 1 right now, pretty anxious to play the campaign in Dead Space 2, looks sweet.

Secondary fire uses 5 ammo but shoots bullets in all directions that ricochet everywhere... somehow Isaac is the only thing that usually lives.
My brother has the game and has beat it once now he's preparing for zealot difficulty playthrough by upgrading everything including the rivet gun and he gotten very good with aiming with that thing

In Extraction, the Rivet gun is essentially a nail gun that has a single fire mode, which is decent damage, and a alt-fire charge mode, which is more powerful.
I don't know why they didn't implemented the P-Sec Pistol from Extraction... It has a semi-auto single fire, and a 3 round burst alt-fire (I think).
The Rivet gun is smaller in terms of shot to the P-Sec Pistol, and the pistol is more powerful than the rivet gun, seeing how it can hold 12+ rounds per clip and has decent fire rate. It's basically your typical "Glock" with laser powered bullets that enables the shots to pierce.
Also, use Classic aim over centered because the accuracy is greater. The centered aim makes it easier to shoot mid-long range enemies but doesn't provide the right "aim" when it comes to specific guns (plasma cutter/line gun/pulse rifle) that doesn't use a single laser.
Classic aim makes dismembering a breeze, compared to centered, which is better for quick aiming.
It's bad for sequences when your getting dragged though, because the laser will move, but the screen won't, making the camera unmovable and harder to aim.
Basically, classic would be the "true" aim while centered "fakes" it.

Oh, then it's not the same abilities as Dead Space Extraction then. It's sorta a ricochet shotgun pistol.
