Halo Reach was totally overrated. I remember checking bungie's website each week for any info i could find on the game. I even stood out until midnight to get the game. After playing co op and multiplayer, i was deeply dissapointed.
Especially forge. I mean they should let you edit the geometry. Now THAT would be awesome. I would create tunnels that go deep under ground and ****.
It kept me entertained for a few months.
Until I got to Captain and everyone started teabagging and using Armor Lock.
I think i prefer halo 3. It seems like i had a lot more fun when halo 3 came out.
All those who who say the Half-Life series... You deserve a crowbar to the face and you are no longer intitled to an opinion. The series defiened sci-fi and story telling in games. The most immersive games out.
Modern Warfare 2 isn't that great, alot of cheaters in it. Black Ops is much more balanced, which was my major complaint in Modern Warfare 2. That, and all the hackers made a guy that played every once in a while get completely owned, the lower level guys couldn't climb at all with everyone maxed out.
Fable 2 was good, but not terribly great. The third one was much better and very fun, but gets boring after you do most of the quests and beat the story.
Halo 2 is probably the worst in the Halo series, with ODST nearby. Though in ODST I do like freely wondering the city and a couple of missions.
Halo 3 was great, but not worthy of worship. Don't get me wrong, I am a HUGE Halo fan, but the media played up the hype WAY too much, and the campaign felt short and somewhat scattered. While there was a few good "totally awesome" moments, the story wasn't very engaging. If it was added to halo 2, we could feel the climax, but as it is, we waited 3 years between games and the stories became dissociated.
And if you think I'm trolling you, you're a fanboy to Sephiroth, even worse than a troll.
Final Fantasy is okay in it's early games, don't get me wrong. Hell, even the Final Fantasy V GBA port was good. I just hate the fanboy community in general who bash me over hating FFVII.
(And for those who are illiterate to Roman Numerals, VII = 7.)
And not to any Dragon Quest game in particular, but it seems Slimes in that game are also a bit over rated, though I don't have problems with that.

Konami Code on Minecraft... wouldn't that just kill Creepers on the spot? [SSSS]
Also, images are gone, but I didn't have to worry much... none were on my sig. Others have different opinions...
After two worlds i never took IGN seriously.
"oblivion on steroids"
Yea, except the steroids didn't increase the strength and instead made the balls shrivel away to non-existance.
:sleep.gif:
didnt ign give it a 10/10?

You are now reading this. You just lost the game.
You have just read this. You are also manually breathing.
Call Of Duty 4: Modern Warfare - It provided nothing revolutionary to the FPS genre and it was quite simply vanilla. The campaign offered nothing intriguing and didn't leave me wanting more, no replay value whatsoever. The game play was fun for a while, but its basic nature and irritating level system just left me wondering what the hype was all about.
Final Fantasy VII - Over all a good game, but no where near the hype that it gets. Lionheart > Omnislash.
Halo 3 - I think the way Bungie ended the Master Chief plot line on what is arguably the biggest cliffhanger throughout the series is a little dumb. That accompanied by the fact that it is basically Halo 2 with some extra features made it boring within a few weeks/months of playing.
Gran Turismo 5 - They spent so long on making this game, yet it's pretty much like any other driving game with 1000+ cars and better graphics (well apart from the 2D crowds and standard cars, or in other words the copy/pastes). The B-Spec races are a pretty pathetic feature, and the Track Editor shouldn't have been added at all. You can't even buy custom brakes xD
But that's all opinion anyway, I would have thrown MW2 in there but I think the general gaming population accept the fact that it wasn't as great as it was claimed to be in the first place.
How is Portal overrated? I honestly have no idea why it's overrated and I think I know why everyone says that is because of the meme it created. It was short because it was an experiment game in The Orange Box. Don't complain it's short because Valve didn't know it would be great as it was.
And no game is ever overrated because there is success in the franchise. Don't bash a game that is making money because they're obviously doing something right.

Assumptions make an ass out of everyone, don't they?
It's not bad. And I'm not flaming you. There's just no way that games can be overrated and I keep seeing the same ones over and over again. I play it and I agree that it's too short but I fully respect that because it was MEANT to be a short game. Valve didn't anticipate it to be such a hit.
No game is overrated. That's like saying McDonald's is overrated because EVERYONE eats it. It's franchises. They make money and they don't care if you think that they're overrated because they're making money putting out these games.
Well I guess I knew this was coming. Anyone who says Portal is bad will just get flamed and proven "wrong" by people who play it.
that implies you have never played it.
Play the damn game before you judge it off what your CoD fanboy friend said, which is most likely this:
"Needz moar gunz pl0x"
and besides, portal is practically a beta of their game. They released it once they finally got it working, and shoved in a bunch of puzzles to go with it. Like someone else said, they wasn't expecting it to be so greatly accepted. They were thinking it would be more like a small arcade game.

It baffles me how you believe you know what person has and hasn't player. Also how you believe you know who a person is friends with by such a simple statement.
Basically, you "imply" that everyone who has played portal has to like it. If you deny that, you contradict you're own statement. Also, you "imply" that anyone who dislikes the game is a "CoD" fanboy.

I'm with the speedrunning community and this [below] is a semi-annual charity marathon we hold.
WOAH you gotta be specific with halo cuz Combat Evolved, if anything is underrated. Reach: Pathetic 3: ok... 2: nvr played ODST: It was a nice change but nothing too great. But combat evolved came as a shock to all and still has a great plot. And if u have it on pc and mod it to have better graphics, it really is amazing.
Runescape: It really had great potential, it really did! But they ruined it, they bassicaly took a good idea and just completley threw it away. Only thing its good for is botting then selling the accounts.
Gmod: Not really, with all the add-ons available and the machinima possibilitys it is a great game.
AQ: Yes, it was popular when I was 8. And it was a great game...when I was 8. Its a nice simple bowser based rpg. And honestly you dont hear alot of hype about it.

Modern Warfare 2
Fable 2
Halo 2
Halo 3

The game is pretty fun and it was great for it's time, but in every discussion I go to about it I see "THAT WAS THE BEST GAME EVAR BAAAW"
Final.
Fantasy.
XIII.
GARBAGE. Absolute garbage.
They started going downhill at FFX.
