4. Final Fantasy 7 - Not going to type anything...just google 'Reasons Final Fantasy 7 is overrated." there's plenty of links.
I hope you realize that if you google reasons (x) is overrated you will see tons of links regardless to how good the game is/was.
I could type down reasons minecraft sucks and see a tonof links.
Think about your post before you post it >:ohmy.gif:
The reason I referenced google for this one was the reasons why I think the game is overrated are very much the same to why everyone else thought the same thing, and it would of resulted in a much bigger typing chore than the 3 other games I listed. Having already spent 10 minutes typing about games I think are overrated I decided to not waste my time explaining my reasons for thinking the game is overrated.
Though I probably should of, cause that time I saved not explaining is now spent explaining why I didn't explain it. Funny how that works.
And to be fair my reasons given for MF2 are shared by the vast majority. So point taken :wink.gif: In order to ratify this mistake I shall give my reasons for thinking Final Fantasy 7 is overrated, completely free of the word 'google'.
For the record, I liked Final Fantasy 7, had a good time with it. But everyone else liked it WAY too much.
I'll start with my biggest bone to pick. The ending.
Don't get me wrong. The ending was good. It was kinda sad (If you were able to fall in love with the characters, which was hard for me) but I don't think its nearly as good as everyone says it is. I think the phrase "Best Ending" or "Most Shocking Ending" have been thrown around way too much. If Final Fantasy 7's ending is 'shocking' or even a contender for 'best ending' then the list has hundreds of games/movies on it that were equally 'shocking' or 'good'.
The second was the combat. I've never been a huge fan of JRPG combat simply because it never changes. And theres no exception here. Apart from limit break (which is exactly like desperation attack from FF6) there is not change in the combat. I liked the fact the party size in combat shrunk because it added a new layer of strategy into the game, but again, it was just the same old combat.
The last is Cloud. Just another clone of the typical 'spikey haired JRPG character with a big sword', Cloud is only unique in the sense that his story uses different words and he has one additional lover. Reusing the 'I did bad things in the past, but i'm ready to be a role model now' story seems to have somehow captured the hearts of millions, though i'm not quite sure how.
As I said before, I found some enjoyment in Final Fantasy. I liked Sephiroth (just like everyone else) and I liked how the generic story chose to take its twists at exactly the right moments. But its still just the same old JRPG.
Assassin's Creed-solid game mechanics and okay story, but I thought the gameplay was very repetitive for a long game people were singing praises about.
Spore-it was a wonderful concept, but each stage is very shallow. I spent more time in the creature creator than both my runthroughs of the main game.
Rock Band/Guitar Hero-the multiplayer game I've gotten the most tired of playing and hearing people talk about. At this point, we're adding less features per release and more music.
Pokemon-I do actually like the Pokemon series and spent the most time in Gen 3, but the endless battling and captures gets pretty old. I'd usually rather play Bejeweled or Plants Vs. Zombies if I have a couple minutes to kill.
COD series. I remember when I bought the first one and found it to be cool. Back then I'd no idea it'd become such a popular franchise. The sad thing is that COD's games are getting worse every year, but still have more and more hype. That's why I think they're overrated.
WOW. I'm a fan of MMORPGs, but I could play World of Warcraft for only 3 months before I dropped it. Too simple, terrible community, lame PvP. I'm just glad I've met Guild Wars before WoW and was able to play it for 3 years. By doing that I could see how overrated WoW is.
Minecraft. It's a nice game, but it's also flawed. I know, it's still in beta, but the fanbase seems to ignore that and - even before the release - put the game on an altar, making it, that way, an unreleased overrated game.
Also, I can't understand some people saying that Half-Life and Zelda games are bad. I do know everyone has an opinion, but thinking that way makes me compare those people to, let's say, Twilight or Bieber's fans. That means completely retarded people.
Halo, Call of Duty, both already mentioned but it should be mentioned again.
God of War, after playing the first one for a while, I realized I would rather do nothing at all then play it, yet its still highly rated.
Street Fighter, I'm okay with Mortal Kombat, which is also overrated, but not to the degree of Street fighter.
Portal, fun game, but way overrated
Team Fortress 2, Once again a great game, but overrated.
Ah well I think thats enough potential hate for one post, better stop while I'm only moderately behind.
The reason they are overrated is because they are/were great games that came out when no other great games were out. They were good games in a time when games werent being made with quality, which made them hugely popular.
Valve has barely dissapointed me on game quality.

You are now reading this. You just lost the game.
You have just read this. You are also manually breathing.
You know how many chicks like twilight?
You know how lame twilight is?
Maybe i have to make an example for you:
if all your friends jumped off a bridge, would you?
No derp, uv curse u jhump uff teh bryge. P33r pr3sure m8ks u kewl.
dude, i argue that most of those 13 mill are either botters, little kids, or people working in sweatshops.
Deal with it. WoW is a crappy game, it doesnt matter how many people play it. Same with runescape. tons of people play it, its still a crappy game.
The cor gameplay is all the same.
The amount of people playing it only decides how crappy it really is. Sadly, the masses are in general, stupid. So, they need to play less-complicated games. less complicated games means less gameplay features and dynamics. less of that means a cheap game.
if you still believe you are 100% right, then you are stubborn and not worth my time, because then clearly i can tell you have been raised wrong to the point where you cannot open your mind to other thoughts.
Naw, you are too stubborn to realise I hate WoW as much as you. But I dont claim a game is overrrated because I dont like it, unlike you. Most people who claim games are overrated claim so because they hate the game. Comparing population #'s, sales and retention are the only real possible ways of proving a game is overrated. If you noticed, most of the games I listed, have had horrible retention, despite being top in rankings in respective gaming magazines.
So go walk away because you think Iam not "worth" your time. Your not worth mine either because your QQing im defending a game based on pop numbers, retention and plain old facts.

What video games do you think are highly overrated? Personally, I think the #1 overrated video game of all time is World of Warcraft. I even wrote an English essay about how much I despise that game.
Another game I think is fairly overrated is Fable II. It's not a bad game, but I don't think it lives up to the original Fable.
Your thoughts?
My thoughts on your opinion of WoW are that for a "overrated" game it sure does have 13 million subscribers.
I personally, think the most overrated game is Little Big Planet for very good reasons. Seriously, who buys rated E for children anymore?

How is it a crappy game? Personally, people who say it is crappy either don't want to pay 15 bucks a month so they nerd rage over it or are so used to their Call of Duty games that they don't even play anything else but their Xbox or such. Wow is an astounding game in fact when it was first released no joke they had to STOP SELLING the game because their servers couldn't support past 500,000 people. That is not a crappy sounding game to me.
It's annoying when people mistake popularity for quality :/
CoD/Halo/WoW/GTA: The usual suspects. In my opinion, they're all horrible
I didn't mistake it.
You say 'In my opinion' and I can't have my own?
Immature.
I don't like portal because it's too short and has no reason to play it again.

The pink one doesn't even look like a kind of animal.
WoW is on overrated game because... Isnt it obvious?!
The gameplay features are crap.(heh, WHAT features?)
The actual gameplay is crap. (any1 up for a game all about jumping around in circles and mashing buttons?)
The quality is crap. (cheap game, the game has no sense of realism, and more)
the leveling system is crap.
the gear system is crap.
And once you hit the highest level you realize that you, again, get crap.
Yet millions of people play it.
Why, you may ask?
Because the game is so crappy it is simple. Anyone can play it. Heck, when i was 6 i got pretty far into the game. Anyone can do what the game asks for, because all the game asks for is 'left click, mash buttons'
I could go on and on, but i dont want to spam the page with reasons an obvious game sucks.

I have personally played it for myself, on a trial period, and realized how boring it is. It's basically a bunch of walking, killing, trading, the usual. Things you can do in any old MMO, but oh no, it's different because it's WoW! Different my ass.
You have to be really into the WoW universe and community to get any enjoyment out of it. Definitely not something I'd pay 15 dollars a month to play. How can anyone lose their lives to a game like this?
my sentiment exactly.
