RD:R is a Third-Person shooter set in the last days of the old west. You play as John Marston, a former outlaw working with the government to kill your old gangmembers in exchange for your freedom, and the freedom of your family.
It's pretty much universally hailed as being a ****awesome game.
You can duel, you can gamble, you can get drunk and beat up Mexicans. This game has everything you'd ever want out of a western, save for the prostitutes.
Also, if anyone wants to go Free Roam Multiplayer on xBox Live, my gamertag is CG62. But PM me on the forums first, I hardly ever get on XBL anymore.
Edit: I jumped into public freeroam today.
The spawn town is usually swarming with COOL DUDES with snipers and repeaters picking off the new guys, so it's a bit of a firefight/run like hell if you want to live situation. You start with a bloody donkey as a mount though, so expect to be run down and killed until the next dude joins up.
After that, I roamed the wilderness for a bit, killing the occasional animal just 'cus. For some reason, some people took a personal vendetta to me and started blasting away at me every time they saw me. People in this game apparently think that every player is an enemy and must be killed.
So I finally got invited to join a "posse", which is RD:R's clan system. We had a huge ass firefight in Armadillo, holding up in the saloon. Then we moved on to El Presido, the fort in Mexico. Due to my lack of a headset, I was unable to say "Hey asshole, I'm on your side" every time someone got the bright idea that that fellow shooting at the incoming lawmen was a lawmen himself.
Then, for some strange reason, the group disbanded out from under me. So I traveled back to Armadillo and took on a gang hideout. 'Lo and behold, two of my former posse-mates ride up just as bandit reinforcements arrive! Woo! But wait, did he just shoot me with his shotgun?
After that, I held up in a house in that same camp with a Mauser as those same two guys I used to look upon as, well, guys I shouldn't shoot, proceeded to plot against me until I ran out of ammunition. I ran out, blasted one with my last few remaining bullets, and got knifed by his pal.
I imagine most of my problems could've been solved with a mic, but people don't seem to realize that some Players are perfectly harmless so long as you leave them alone. One fella blasted me away while I was dicking around in the mountains. I followed that mother****er across hills and valleys, canyons and mountains, and blew his damn head off and stole his loot on a bandit mission.
Let me tell you my tale which happened a week ago...
-I was level 8 (or 9? I had the 3rd mount) and I was in a giant shootout in a mexican town, I took to a tower and held out for a while before someone threw dynamite up and turned me into tomatoe soup. Suddenly everyone took to their seperate ways and I was invited to a possee. Me and this person decided to shoot-up a couple of hideouts beofre hijacking a wagon and driving to Armadillo. There we were ambushed by 5 people and while we were riding away they got on their horses and proceeded to chase us, they were much faster.
Automatically I decide since I'm riding shotgun I may as well cover our escape and proceed to blow the faces off of the nearest 3 people with my rifle. The other 2 got throwing knifed in the heart. They kept coming for a while until they finally managed to kill us.
I joined a new session and leveled up quite a bit. I decide to do a hideout but suddenly get sniped. It was another player which I got back at him by ducking under boulders, then creating a fine red mist with my shotgun. We decided to join forces to rip this hideout to shreds. With shotguns in hand we politely opened the door and killed a few outlaws.
I'm level 20, but im already bored of the game after beating single player and playing through most of the multiplayer...
It's a good game, but isn't great.
Once you used up the contents, it's just bland...
Like all GTA games are...
I am not amused when all people do in free roam is shoot/snipe/bomb/knife/shout at each other in a mindless frenzy...
GTA4 - Multiplayer (The only thing you CAN do is kill the f.ing out of each other)
RDR - Same thing as above, but with the option to shoot the f.ing out of npcs too.
Games these days bore me faster than they amuse me...
Must. Look. For. Something. Else....
