A long time ago I went to Goodwill and they had this game on a floppy. Back then I used a Mac, but I recently discovered that there is a DOS version, which is now considered abandonware. It runs well in DOSBox, except for the sound effects not working.
I haven't played the newer SimCity games, but this version (made in 1993) actually feels like it could be a modern game, except for the graphics.
Here's a city in a volcano:
There are money cheats you can use, can't remember what they are though.
The best part is destroying your carefully built city with riots, fires, floods, earthquakes, or a weird monster thing that destroys your landmarks with lasers...
I got this along with a collection of other games. One off the cool things about it was that you could load the cities in "streets of simcity." I recall the frequent mention of llamas in the newspapers. The version I have has a debug mode that activates when you type "priscilla" (ithink that was how it was spelled. The military never did construcT a base when I allowed them to. I also liked shooting down the helicopters.
