Most people I've talked to about this seem to be very against it. I really can't figure out why. When someone comes on the internet and says that they have a Gameboy Pocket, Light and Play It Loud it's like they're some kind of gaming god just for having them, even though they don't even have games that can only be played on one of the. But when I go on the internet and say that I have a DS and a DSi and plan on getting the 3DS, the same people all say I'm wasting my money, and complain that Nintendo "makes another DS every year".
I'm looking forward to it.

Nintendo needs competition for the handheld market, sooo badly. Almost nobody even has a PSP, so that don't count. The Big N has practically had a monopoly on the market since day one, with the original Game Boy.
Nintendo seems hellbent on releasing a new DS every 3 months :sleep.gif:
This is not a new model. It's what the DS was to the GBA. Or the GBA was to the GB/C.

I'm actually not too fond of the idea of this, it just seems like another gimmick they've strapped on to the DS.
this is coming from someone who owned every Nintendo handheld from the GBC to the DS phat, and owns a Gamecube and a Wii. i just don't feel like Nintendo are putting in the effort now they've found their new market, so i've moved on to PC games.
I doubt I will buy a 3DS. it just doesn't appeal to me.
This guy will be raving when Sony anounces the 3SP. And yes, this does seem like a gimmick, but so did motion controls on the Wii, look where they've gone today.

There's nobody to compete against them that can really even SURVIVE except Sony and Apple. Microsoft isn't even going to TRY to make a console too.
I REALLY hope this has Gamecube backwards compatibilty, and if you insert a disc you can download an expansion for it that runs off the online store. E.G. Multiplayer games are revamped for wireless and more players, the two Pokemon games can trade with the new ones, Phantasy Star Online gets Wi-fi and servers are reloaded and DS games can connect to WPA networks.
This ALSO should have these games as launch games:
Super Mario Sunshine 3DS
Mario Kart 3DS
Pokemon ??? and ??? (Gets tons of bonus features for 3DS, but can still be played on the DS.)
Left 4 Dead 3DS (Not happening, but c'mon, this could have sooooo many cool features.)
Random Shovelware
Professer Layton (Uses 3D features to solve puzzles.)

Did you know that Nintendo is the only major console gaming company that isn't losing money from its games? That the only real competition they've ever had on the handheld market is the PSP? That Nintendo's consoles have the least horsepower of all the consoles in its generations?
Nintendo needs competition. They're doing excellently with home console gaming, but there's no competitor for handhelds, and such lacks the backbone of capitalism.

Maybe if they'd stop being gimmick whores and put some money towards making good games you'd have something there. Nintendo is being more gimmicky than Sega right now. Sega.
Being the richest proves nothing, other than that they're good at fooling stupid people. I mean, Gamestop's the richest distributor. That should say enough about quality-versus-success.
That being said, I'm actually interested in this. I might pick it up if there's a ****ing GBA slot this time around.

The Gamecube was more powerful than the PS2, actually. Developers didn't bother trying to sell Gamecube games on graphics due to the fact that most brand loyalty to nintendo was among a younger and quirkier crowd.
The N64 was also superior to the PS1 in a few aspects, but the PS1 sold three times as many units, so...
Madness, I tell you. But I already know I'll buy this.
...but the question is now, how much will it cost?
I'm guessing around $200, with a few launch games.
Raise my dragons please!!
Virtual Boy
That's the failed Virtual Boy, not the 3DS.
Raise my dragons please!!
Maybe next time eh. Cough Xbox4D. Lol.
...
What's next, holographic projections on the walls of your room?
I have a Smartboard and a projector for this.
Now, having a table that projects the game onto it in full 3D would be pretty ballin'
See? I'm not so malicious...
Head-tracking, already done in the DSi, adjusts the in-game camera based on where your head is relative to the DS's camera.
Uh... this...
But evidence shows that Nintendo is working with Sharp on their uh, parallax barrier technology: Descriptipn.
EWW.
EWWWWWWWWWW.
STOP THIS **** NINTENDO
I'm looking forward to it.
