Most Underrated Game You Have Ever Played : [ Go ]
I'm having trouble remembering any atm. So I'm going to have to say World of Goo. I didn't find the game to be all that innovative and it certainly wasn't very involving...
Any Unreal game. Worst 13 bucks I spent on a steam sale for 5 games. So what if they're the basis for every damn shooter. They have their pros, but it's not for me.
First of all, Modern Warfare 2 is a fantastic game single player. Veteran is very challenging, the story and voice acting are both top-notch, and it's full of those holy **** moments that I live for. I can't think of a single bit of praise for this game that isn't absolutely deserved - and I HATE the multiplayer. Infinity Ward really outdid themselves, though.
That aside, over-rated game of the century as far as pre-release hype goes was probably Fable. I was so amped for that game and so horribly let down when I played it. Sure, it was alright, but I definitely felt like I had been lied to utterly by the developers.
Post-release? Probably Super Mario Galaxy. I'd like to see that Mario 64 essence recaptured just as much as the next guy, but I don't think Galaxy did it. It didn't really feel like it was set in the mario universe (no pun intended).
Mass Effect 2.
I just never saw the charm in it. How is it good? Why should I care about the characters beyond them being extra boolets and meatshields?

I am NOT going to see friend requests, so stop sending them.
Oh, Super Mario Galaxy. I completely agree with that one.
The fact that the camera was zoomed so far out all of the time didn't make me feel I was in space, it made me feel I was just playing a regular game.
"Spin to win" was my motto, because you used the spin attack constantly to defeat enemies, activate all sorts of contraptions, jump farther... There was very little variety in the gameplay because it focused so much on this one ability.
It was also far too easy. After beating it with Mario, the game threw the controller back at me yelling "DO IT AGAIN WITH LUIGI!" I didn't find the game at all harder with him.
After I beat the game, all the game magazines were still going crazy about it. Though the gameplay was 'meh', the soundtrack was quite good (EXCEPT FOR THE TOAD THEME).

MW2's campaign was a movie, basically. There was no thinking involved, you had no different ways of doing anything, it sucked. 0% re-playability. It is my choice for this thread.
"This will be the most amazing game ever"
"I mean really, the most amazing game... ever."
"It's practically endless. Almost infinite design options. Start as a cell, conquer the galaxy."
"I can finally get it! I am!
"This is fun!"
"This is pretty cool."
"Heh. This could keep my attention for a bit."
"What do you know? Despite all the effort in the world, my buildings are still just buildings, and my spaceship is still just a spaceship. The planet I terraformed? Still just a planet."
*Downhill spiral*
Spore was a good game. It only seems really bad because it was supposed to be so much better, though.
I second Spore... I was all "WOW THAT LOOKS FRIGGIN AWESOME!" until I found out they had simplified it to death...
(also they kidified it... at E3 they had shown a clip of you being able to drag your prey along leaving a bloody trail... cool right? well in the final game... no trails of blood)

For me... Starcraft. Don't get me wrong, I LOVE RTS games but Starcraft just didn't catch on to me. I suppose not playing it when it came out all those years ago prevented me from truly enjoying the game, I suppose? Nostalgia is sure a powerful thing.

It was a good movie, to me anyways. Though as a game, its nowhere near worth $60. Multiplayer for that game was... alright but not amazing. Bad Company 2 demo beat the crap out of the whole MW2 multiplayer.
spore without a doubt, is the worst game i have ever played when your compare the experience to the hype it received. before spore, probably black & white, which wasn't a bad game i think, but no way did it live up to the hype.
calling starcraft is fail. i can't wait for starcraft 2, and its difficult to hype starcraft 2 considering you can watch thousands of in-game films on youtube.

It's old. It's rubbish, too.
I hope you don't need an explanation on this one?
Hah, I didn't even by it. The first one was alright, but focused on MP too much. Since I'm more of a SP person, I didn't bother.

Relic of a bygone age.

I liked it, it's fun to play with friends, but it's not the Perfect game most people (at least, most people whom I talk to IRL) make it out to be.

No dragging, even!

I'm never buying an EA game again, ****ing bastards.
