It is evident that Sega had neglected some of their past generation franchises and Ristar and Cyborg Justice are some I can think of.
I'm one of the people who would like to see a remake of Cyborg Justice being brought to the latest platforms.
This classic beatem up despite its flaws in execution did have interesting features within it, the robot customizations, reviews said they had like over 200 different body combinations which is impressive given the time the game was made in and the limitations of the hardware they were on.
I would say the bosses are very repetitive though, because all the bosses use the same torso and attacks, minus the difficulty increases and the fact you were more likely to get your arm and body torn off in the later levels.
However a remake could improve on this and make the bosses have unique body designs that do not exist in the player customization set, or are unlockables which would increase the replay value of the game. Upon defeating the different bosses you get a new set of body parts added to the customization set which can be accessed either by starting the game again or upon death and the player uses a continue.
The various different attacks in the game for the most part could remain as they are now, but with improved battle animations and graphics. With body parts being ripped off, with achievements in the game rewarding the player for stealing other robot body parts and then using them for battle. Also I loved the energy weapon which fired, while powerful, it also had delay and a limit to stop it from being spammable, meaning you had time to counter it, great for playing with friends I'd imagine.
There needs to be more levels in the game because I felt it was short, 5 normal levels and 6 boss levels, is seriously not enough in my opinion.
Also get rid of the annoying ravines in the 1st level.
They're far too wide and without precise timing with the jump kick action, or the pneumatic legs is impassible, and for the 1st level this is unacceptable,
1st levels of games are generally supposed to be easy, not difficult or result in cheap deaths.
The music however needs an update
Remixes of the music in the game with much higher quality sounds.
Both techno and electric guitar metal music would be acceptable for this type of game, it's fitting.
The story? it should be similar to the original. A human in a spaceship crashes onto an alien planet and is severely injured but still alive, is taken by the robots that inhabit the planet to be repaired, but after having his brain implanted in a robot body turning him into a cyborg, the true intent of the robots who captured him is revealed, he was to be used as a slave under the command of an alien cyborg who is a dictator.
He rebels and fights back, and so the fight for freedom begins on the first level.
Should there be voice acting in this? I don't know if that would work, and to be honest I would be just as content with it if it used text to convey what each of the characters in the game were saying.
The gameplay in general? make it a 2D sidescroller, like Streets of Rage, not every game needs to be in 3D.
Perhaps they could design a 3D version of the game later on, but for now let's ask that Sega start with the basics and get a remake that works.
Adding in extra levels and body combinations as well as unique parts for the different bosses would be sweet.
