It's great that our favorite content creators get the inside scoop on our favorite titles, but what about letting the rest of us in to get a sneak peek?
Today, It’s common to hear about content creators getting “early access” or being invited to “viewing events” of upcoming games or content releases (DLC). This is great as it gives fans in the community something to look forward to watch and read on from their favorite creators. This is something that I will openly admit I partake in but I can’t help but feel that it shouldn’t be exclusive to those who have a YouTube or Twitch channel.
Don’t get me wrong, I’m not bashing these creators as the most important thing to remember is that they are fans of these games just as much as the rest of us. What I’m trying to say is that they shouldn’t be the only ones getting these special privileges. I believe that ordinary gamers should have the chance to be selected to go as well. Developers and publishers should allow fans to attend by either having a contest or raffle or by other means to allow them to go.
This will allow us into the world of what content creators get access to and also gives the average gamer hands on insight of what goes on at these major companies. It’s common for a gamer to say “this happens because Bungie does this” or “why can’t EA do this?” My belief is that this will build morale and show fans what really goes on behind those closed doors. Besides isn’t it every gamer dream to get special access to seeing the latest DLC or gameplay of the newest AAA title months before release? I know I would and you must feel the same.
Some people are ok with relying on their preferred content pro writing creator to give them the news or sneak peaks, I do as well. I just believe there should be a somewhat equal opportunity to allow the rest of us to get the same privileges. What better way to bring fans, content creators and gaming companies closer together and understand one another better than allowing everyone (to a degree) to experience that same thing?
This is just a thought and would love to hear what you guys think about this. Let’s get the chat started!
