Probably old news at this point, but EA's response to some criticism about the price of Darth Vader and other iconic heroes in EA's new Battlefront 2 has resulted in EA earning the most downvoted comment in Reddit history, in addition to being raked over the coals pretty much everywhere else.
Not surprising, to be honest. Sadly, this is also becoming the norm. This DLC, and especially lootbox crap needs to crash and burn hard. EA at this point is just eating up studios and throwing them out.
At this point the only "triple A" games worth looking forward to are the occasional Nintendo game, and even then that's if Miyamoto doesn't ruin it by trying to cram some gimmick into it. Almost every other "triple A" game is filled to the brim with ways to milk as much money out of you, even after paying an atrocious $60 price tag up front.
Really miss the days when EA made good games like Simcity 4, and the NFS games before prostreet. Heck, I still occasionally play the original Battlefront II. Good stuff.

To be fair, games have been $60 for a while, even though games have become more expensive to produce and the economy has continued to inflate. I don't consider that price atrocious, and I don't even think that DLC is inherently bad. It's just that many companies are lazy and greedy nowadays and sees DLC as a quick moneygrab, and even companies like Nintendo (as much as I love them) and Mojang aren't exempt from this. A character skin isn't 1/12 of the game's content, so why is it 1/12 of the price?
Go go Belgium! Hopefully other countries start cracking down on this crap. What drives me batty is a lot of people give Overwatch slack just because "Blizzard do no wrong," and that "it's just cosmetic." If I bother to pay 40, goodness forbid 60 USD on a blasted game, I darn well expect there not to be micro-transactions of any sort. There used to be a day when all this cosmetic stuff could be earned through just playing, and being good at the game. Yes I know you get lootboxes every now and then, blah blah etc.
Overwatch, aside from the lootbox crud and the hands of evil that spread from it, is a great game, gameplay-wise. I've only gotten a, few hours into it when I played it on a friends computer. Sadly though, Activision is being money-grubbing so they aren't putting in the $ to the team so it can be ported to OSX and Linux. (I'm on a Macbook Pro that runs as good if not better than a number of my friends custom-made PCs)

Gonna have to disagree there. I think Overwatch's loot box system is fine. It's all cosmetics. Nothing game breaking, just stuff to show off.
That being said, I wouldn't shed a tear if they ditched the system entirely.

Figured it was time for a change.

Nice to know that Minecraft could be heading down this path...
Check out my suggestions! Here is one of them:

UK decided loot boxes are fine. Or rather, just sidestepped the conflict entirely.

And apparently some people think loot boxes encourage gaming addiction. (it's near the bottom of the article)

I dunno, it looks like the controversy around them is dying down. Thoughts?
