I'm not sure how it works and I could just be paranoid, but I fear that if I bought games digitally that there lies the chance I will never be able to play them again if the company hosting the downloads for the games went bankrupt or something else along the lines.
IMO, this is inevitable. If you have the game installed, that will probably keep working- but once the service is gone, you won't be able to redownload it.
This might seem farfetched. "Steam no longer being around? You're insane". many other digital distribution networks have died, and Steam is just another one. They will not last forever and the plug will be pulled on the distribution service.
Of course by the time that happens, most gamers probably won't care, since the games will be "ancient" by that time.

That is one thing I am slightly concerned about (read: slightly). However, unless you give away account details (on accident or on purpose) or the service goes down it would probably be harder to lose the games (And physical games can be damaged, if you drop your game on the floor or lend it to a sloppy friend).
