While not everything is going well, its not like the "veterans" that moved away were good people anyway. If you are interested, you can check out Experiment 4X, there, I am trying to get those more casual into the intermediary lifestyle. No one liners there.
The bigger clique I'm with are all doing real life stuff as the beginning of the summer solstice is always a hectic time for everyone, so not everyone is 100%

Arguments happen, they just do, you can't stop it, no matter how much power you have, even if it takes years to settle, when it does, everyone is stronger for it. Rivalries can be made into friendships if you let them.
Some ideas are meant to be made into reality, but most need to be burned at the stake.

"Where it goes" is not really a thing, as it is a 4X game: explore, expand, exploit, exchange/exterminate. That's all it is with roleplay elements

I disagree; there were a few "veterans" on this site who did contribute quite a lot to the roleplay section as a whole. True, a few of them may sound like jerks (notably, a good deal of roleplayers seem to hate on the "Precipricks"), but you can't ignore their writing skills and such.
Strangely enough, after the "Precipricks" left, things seem to go downhill.
I disagree to that, The precipricks you mentioned never really contributed anywhere outside of precipice roleplaywise (with some exceptions), sure they created that workshop (which they don't want anyone changing) and did a bit of staff work (which felt biased in my opinion) but they just OOCd all day in the last version of this thread and their book of an OOC. There are still many veterans around MCF in the shadows, those people I'm not complaining about.
I also feel that this "decline" is no different than the other declines that have happened all in the 2-3 years prior, it was happening whether they stayed or not

More like the illusion that if we followed them, we'd settle on better pastures.
...and it turned out it wasn't an illusion. Though I miss BBCode, most of us can't return because everyone else has already left. In fact, people were already leaving before even the Prepricks left.
(Prepricks, not Precipricks. I'm getting the feeling we'll annoy a few people by misspelling their nickname.)

As this bias as I sound, I disagree.
Knowing them, they were always trying to improve the RP community. Whether they discussed the declining quality of MCF and their mods, or just life in general, their exceptions were basically evidence of what they were trying to do. They didn't join RPs to troll them. Heck, if anything, they were shouted and kicked at for creating such huge posts. If you look at a certain Fallout RP, you'll see what I mean. Yeah, they were definitely pricks, hence the name 'prepricks.' If anything, they're not exactly role-models; though I would agree with the apparent decline in mod quality, I wouldn't go as far as getting in a heated argument with them. But, the point is that they tried helping in certain areas, even if it appeared (and probably was at time) like they were having a 'fun time.'
In the end, they (and some of us as a result) all left. They just gave up, knowing they were on the bad side of MCF.

Yes, let's forget the giant tutorial Precipricks created, and got stickied. Let's forget this very thread, created by a Preciprick. Those were only small contributions, no?
And please. Don't even cry bias when it comes to my moderation days. You and a ton of the people here would have been suspended numerous times had I enforced the rules. I didn't just protect Precipricks. I protected the entire Roleplaying section from what I believed were ridiculous rules, of which half of you broke at least once or twice. Had I been biased, I would have gone into your threads and locked them. Not because you like to complain, and that's annoying, but because I can guarantee you there's enough spam in there to get it locked. If not spam, pointless bickering.
And trust me, I went into your threads when I was a mod. I could have impressed a lot of power-hungry twelve year-olds with the sheer amount of suspensions I would have handed, had I enforced the rules. Not just your threads - most threads in this section. There were so many times I could have handed warnings and suspensions, and I didn't. That's why they de-modded me. Rightly so, I suppose. But don't give me crap about how I was biased.

Perhaps the reason people hated the PoW roleplayers is because that they're jealous. It takes skill to write a "Homeric" post without tiring yourself out. Most people would probably run out of ideas (or incentive) before they can finish a few paragraphs.

Your all wrong.
The precipers didn't ruin the community, but they set some of the foundations, which makes everything kind of weird without them. But them being here without the other golden age RPer's is also weird.
A similar thing happened to the game PR3.
You could make your own levels and blocks, so the noobs did stuff like make a 3 second race called 'Bezt rac evah' that had absolutely no point to it and was essentially just an eyesore because they could. The best ones were the 'Rate 5 Stars and you will become a millionaire/genius/god/get a free hat/etc.' ones. So although things were going great, all the good map makers slowly left because of the trash, and then there was nothing left but said trash, and eventually everybody just up and left.
But yeah. The precipers were jerks, and they mostly kept to themselves/trolled hyper-casual RP's, but because of how well known they were, and the original setting of the RPer's Guide/GRD&IT, they were important. I forgot the point of all this now.

Like politicians. You hate them, but they're important.

I can vouch for this. From my time on these forums, the "Precipers" that I role-played with were fairly helpful and friendly. Sometimes they could get a little pushy and irritating, but for the most part they were an important part of the community. Now since they all left, does this mean the role-playing forums fall to the remaining role-players? Making us the next generation of veteran role-players?
Although, some of us remain and lurk around, if not RP in certain RPs.
So yeah. You've come several months too late. Welcome to my world, when I returned to MCF about a year ago from now... or something.
Time flies, right?

Okay then.
Wonder why that happened.
Sometimes I wonder if it's all too easy.
Lying, cheating, stealing your way to victory.
Though just how far would you fall for a dream?
