Is it weird that the 'bigger' version of cloud's demo post is still tiny to me? Anywho, the PoW crew will be missed by some, but we have to move on. New hardcore Rpers must rise up and take their old positions, though, it's doubtful that any of us will end up as a moderator.
Both are meant to be tiny. I don't want to put up a paragraph for the second iteration even if I could.
That example by CloudJhi is terrible, literally a 1-liner with a narrated 1 liner reversed and slapped on the end. I could have made the point better with a couple of frogs, pancakes and interpretive dance. Anyways, if anyone was interested in expanding their posts it is really about adding actions, not adding fancy words.
"Hi!" Bob says. Bob waves at the stranger. - So Bob said hi and waved. Nobody uses says. Nobody narrates their actions after doing them.
With a cheery voice, Bob says, "Hi!" He waved energetically as the stranger approached, an eager look in his eyes. - So Bob said hi with happiness and cheer, his energetic waving betraying his excitement as well as the light in his eyes.
Nobody narrates their actions after doing them. This is still a one-liner.
-snap-
You misunderstand Solly, the parts you crossed out aren't even meant to be read together with the 'post'. They're only an explanation of the 'post's' content.
Of course no one narrates their actions after doing them, that's plain redundant and dum.
OT: I could write a fair bit of history. I've been around since NeilSaur and crew first left, but PoW was already about 200 pages long when I first started.
Eh... Ok... It's a little concerning, but t doesn't overcome my laziness. So I'll be sticking around. Besides, if people just filter their list to most replied, they'll find mine right on up there. Oh well. I'm not moving to the Guild, for now. Not worth the effort.
I just did this. I must say, wow, your RP is old.
I find it funny that the top 1 is the PoW OOC, followed by two Pokemon RP's.
Pretty proud of the fact that HMA made it up 4th, that RP is ancient and dead. It was a shame.

It is not to late, intermediates and hardcores, retreat with us to the safe haven of the guild. It the only way for us to survive and prosper in our RPs.

I'm wondering what you mean by "your RP is old." Forgive me for my ignorance, by the way. But It's only been around a few months... Is that old?

Considering it got over 400 pages within two months, I'd say so. Doesn't mean it's very good. But I think all of us who have stuck around have gotten a lot better at roleplaying since the start of it. And I try to keep people in line for half-way decent posts. Even though it does get the occasional weird post that is way too nondescriptive.

Oh. Well thanks. Coming from someone whom I assume is a pro like you, that's pretty cool for me. But, yeah. the people who don't at least try to improve aren't good for anywhere. If you have a chance to improve yourself and that improvement would make everyone a little happier, then nothing should stop you from doing just that and improving.

That is a good philosophy. If you just keep on headbutting a wall to get through it, you'll never get through the wall unless you improve your strategy.

I'm not that pro, but I am pretty decent.
Also if your looking to improve even more I take a look The Roleplayer Writer's Workshop. It gives you some good help towards being able to RP decently in more professional RP( Your Hangout thing seems likes it just there to create craziness with all sorts of characters from everywhere.) and its pretty good if you want to learn how to put more detail in your posts.

Insanity-Repeating the same thing over again and expecting different results
Well. I mean, the bar can get crazy, but it's a way for anyone to me kinda what they want. I see no problem in having a medieval knight chatting it up with a soldier of the future. Sure, it gets a little crazy. But it is somewhat organized. Usually in little story arcs. (Though I'll admit, my last one went way longer than I expected.)
And while I do wish to put in a little more detail, I have a simplistic mind and the laziness of a sloth. I try, but that just gets the better of me and I want to do as little work as possible.
Most of my learning about detailed posts comes from watching others, but I might try the workshop. Not sure how much good it'll do. I learn by example and hands-on experience, usually. But thanks anyways for the advice.

Does the Workshop still perform it's function? The workshop is a good thread, and a good bunch of people threw in helpful stuff in there.
Last I checked though, it's kind of hard to swallow all at once.

Reading it pieces at a times helps, and yeah its still relevant. It might not be maintained with new ideas anymore but the info there is good for pretty much any RP that you can think of.

It's a relevant thing, but it's more of a multi-visit shop for a number of more complex issues regarding writing as a whole. It's rule is not law, but is a base to work from if you're looking for a direction to improve.
A quick Q, does anybody have a good way to respond to one liners? I feel like there is not enough information in the one liner to respond with anything else than a one liner.
It's difficult, but possible. It all depends on the situation. If you're taking control of your little part of the story, the other person might have less to do, therefore a one-line is all it really takes. Like if it's asking a question, the asker could have one line and the answer could be Fifty paragraphs. But in other situations, it's made a lot more difficult.

For example, in my RP, there was a character who attacked the bar. Big woop, happens often. But when, like, eight people attacked him, the player just posted:
"That does not affect me" (insert name of character here, cause I'm not naming names) says.
And it's like, how are we supposed to respond? How did it not affect him? Is he bulletproof? Did it just faze through him? I mean... that wasn't a good time.

And so marks the Dark Ages. Anyone mind writing up some records of our existence?
