Hey! Drop that gun and release that hostage right now damn bandit.
*Aim down sight at the bandit*
*Shoots two bullets on the bandit*
Are you okay?
*Takes out the bowie knife and starts to cut the rope*
There you go sir.
Is it possible for you to post in a traditional RP-style rather than using asterisks to denote your actions? We'd like to see another example from you using traditional RP-style.Bladerz, I just read your introduction, and everything looks good. One thing, I would recommend using italics instead of quotations for thoughts, since it makes it a little easier to understand.
Does anyone recognize this song from Skyrim as one featured in some movie or something:
Have you guys played Dark Souls 2 yet? The environments are so good looking!
@Bladerz Here is my summary. My two characters are Sam and Elliot.
Sam(Like Ike said) escaped Boston with her group, called the Union. The Union is a survival group and has three spread out Union groups located in Boston, Florida, and Pittsburgh. When Sam and the group escaped Boston, the military found them and executed them, Sam had escaped. One of the group members from the Boston group, his name was Sully and he was basically Sams surrogate father. He died from the execution. Daniels group(Ikes characters) found Sam and took her into their group. She is with them in the cabin and they are trying to get Sam to Missouri then going to Colorado. Sam needs to get to Jackson city Missouri to meet with the Florida and Pittsburgh groups and tell them what happened to the Boston group.
Elliot is a Union member from the Florida group and they are traveling to Jackson City, to meet up with the rest of the Union and make it to Colorado where there is a rumored 'Safe Haven.' Elliot is a trusted and respected member of the florida group who is led by Duncan. Duncan formed a council for the florida group consisting of him, Terrance, and Rick. He offered Elliot a position but Elliot declined. They are in Tennessee and Elliot, Joey(An 18 year old kid who Elliot looks out for.), and Terrance get sent out to hunt for extra food. On their way back, Terrance complains to Elliot that Duncan has been drinking a lot lately(Alcohol) and he cant trust Duncans decisions anymore. Elliot says they will deal with it when the time comes. On their way back to camp they are ambushed by runners and clickers and Terrance gets killed. (My most recent post.)
Let me know if any of that was confusing or if you have questions. Also I recommend you go back and at least read the intro pages, and of course read the most recent posts. Here is the page where Elliot first comes into the story. And here is the page where Sams group gets executed and you can learn more about Sully.
Elder Scrolls Online is alright. Im not much of an MMO guy but I will probably get it because its Elder Scrolls :P. I played the beta for Titanfall and it was alright but I heard the full game is really good.
Ok thanks guys for the introductions, think I'm gonna like it here !
Just so you know Jack and Jacob haven't come into contact with Daniel and Sam. So they are not with Me and Ike right now. Its up to Ike if we notice Robin or not. You could try making more direct contact with our characters though.
Ignore that post. I'm not going to go into 'edit' mode again, because I lost EVERYTHING to it.
Here goes.
Character Name: Mauve Uric, although he'd not used his surname in all his life, so I doubt it matters.
Age (must be between 16 and 45): 25
Gender: Male
Place of Origin (where they were born/raised): Salt Lake City, Utah, although he has no noticeable accent. If anything, he sounds British, and not the posh kind.
Brief History (min. two sentences, max. five): Born two years into the infection, life was never easy for the man. His parents could not take care of him, and dumped him in a military orphanage not dissimilar to the one Ellie and Riley both attended as soon as they could. It was not out of negligence, and not out of selfishness; no, they did love their son, but, despite their strong connections with the Fireflies, they knew he had a better chance with the military.
From there, he grew with a hatred towards those he called his superiors, and eventually ended up with the Fireflies. In particular, he was part of a team of fast moving, hit and run operatives who called themselves The akıncılar, after an ancient Ottoman irregular cavalry unit, for their similar morals and tactics. They were freerunners, too. It was the fastest way across the city in the apocalypse, and it was also usually the path of least resistance.
They were deadly, to put it lightly. They had all been selected by their leader, an older Turkish man named Yilmaz, for both their dedication to 'the cause' and their lack of families to grieve for them.
Their tactics and strategies were also different from the other Fireflies, by the nature of their chosen medium of combat, and the goal of their engagements. They favoured the other Fireflies' favourite weapon, Molotov cocktails, slightly less also. Instead, you would see smoke bombs, and ice picks (mostly as climbing aids, but they had no trouble piercing skulls either), and most strikingly, swords, on their belts. You see, Yilmaz was a big fan of the old medieval style of fighting, and he had been trained meticulously by his own father before the outbreak, mostly as a form of recreation.
So, naturally, they broke into an old museum for their equipment.
Most commonly found in the hand of a fighting akıncı (the singular noun of akıncılar), was a light, brutal, slashing weapon, like a cavalry sabre, designed with a curved blade to maximize the cutting ability of the blade.
It was for this reason, as well as their clearly insane, and savage nature, that they became quickly the most feared of all the Firefly soldiers. Their shrill battlecries permeating a warzone would shake the will of even the toughest veteran, and send eyes darting up to the rooftops, searching frantically for their undoing, and begging the Gods that they had only been hearing things.
They were like the stuff of legend, really. A puff of smoke from one of the smoke bombs they carried, and then, after the grating of the swords being drawn, you'd only hear screaming from inside the cloud. The potent warriors left only blood in their wake, and were known by their masks, swords, and shrieks of pure malice all through the ranks of the military. Even their own team were slightly afraid of them, most of the time. A pat on the back and a 'good job' were all you could ever really expect to say to the akıncılar when the finally came home for food, rest, and a resupply. Sometimes, they even forgot they were wearing the polished, stolen masks of the Janissaries, and left them on.
Many soldiers believed fervently that the akıncılar had no faces under the thick steel plating of the masks. Many of them thought that they were demons, sent to deliver retribution of some kind, for what sin they did not know.
Mauve and several other members of the akıncılar, though, were still human. They treated eachother like brothers, though they knew the risks of their work, and were ready to die any day. In particular, they bonded with Yilmaz, their leader. He taught them everything he knew about the swords they carried, and he taught them the true value of leaving survivors.
For Fear. It was For Fear. Without fear, they were nothing. Without fear, they were pointless, stupid, and ineffective.
It was the reason for their downfall, in the end.
But before they all were killed, their leader would be captured and executed first.
They watched as, at the crack of dawn, their beloved mentor and father figure was hanged from a short rope, and a tight noose.
And they screamed. They screamed and cried and roared their battle cries from the rooftops. The crowds were helpless but to look and stare in awe and wonder as, for the first time, they saw this terrible enemy that had killed so many of their soldiers behind a screen of smoke.
The soldiers too, could only stare.
And the Akincilar did not stop screaming. They made themselves heard for miles around before finally their new leader spoke. He spoke well, and loudly, and he struck fear into the hearts of all who heard him, including the Fireflies mixed in with the crowd. He swore vengeance. He swore blood in Yilmaz' name. He swore death upon all those who crossed them; that all who crossed the akincilar would die a short, and agonizing death on their swords. He swore that the last face they would ever see would be the face engraved on their masks.
He never got the chance to make good on that oath, though.
You see, hit and run tactics work on speed, and shock, and awe alone. When you take this away, you've still got a bunch of highly deadly soldiers who could make quick work of you with their swords, but you've got a bunch of highly deadly soldiers who could make quick work of you with their swords... who don't carry guns.
This is what the combined forces of Zuma squad, Feldspar squad, and Corbulo squad did. They were tasked with hunting down and destroying these beasts of men. In order to do this, they were made familiar with all the tactics put on display by the Akincilar, including their smoke, and their warcries.
When it came down to the fight, the Akincilar deployed both smoke and fire, for maximum fear, and the military just waited it out.
It was over in seconds once the smoke had cleared.
The firelight shone off of their masks, and the cruel curves of their swords- but that only makes them better targets for guns.
Mauve and two others were the only survivors. Everyone else was either killed in the fight, or taken prisoner, interrogated, and summarily executed.
The Akincilar threat was ended.
The other two ran off.
Mauve was alone.
When he got back to the place he'd called home, he found that the Fireflies had left. Apparently, the whole 'cure' thing was real, or some bull carp like that, and they'd all gone to Utah to secure it. It was over.
The Akincilar would never be reformed, nor recreated. For one thing, there were no good enough teachers to retrain any new volunteers. For another thing, there were no more Fireflies insane enough to accept the training, and become Akinci.
Years passed. His life became meaningless, and his body became old, though he should still have been young. His hair was wreathed in silver, and his beard was scraggly and grey. He kept his sword and mask and ice pick, though he should not have, really, for his own safety.
He accepted it.
He became a smuggler.
He lived a sad and lonely life. Well, not exactly lonely, because he had Chloe. She was a nice enough girl, but she was his smuggling partner only, and only his smuggling partner. He viewed her as a friend at best- and he didn't view friends particularly dearly any more.
But then, after a few more years of living this way, with his body recovering from the stress of his former life, and looking somewhat young again, the Fireflies returned, with a new woman at their figurehead.
They fought.
They won.
He went to see them.
But the new girl... she was too young. She was clever, but inexperienced. When he mentioned his title- Akinci- to her, she shrugged, and said that she knew not of its significance. She ignored the shocked looks on her advisors' faces, and she paid no attention to the disbelief and mild fear in the eyes of the footsoldiers. He had never served under her, had he? No. Why should he have her regard then? She saw no proof of this, not really. She had never seen him fight. She had not been there for the end!
She knew nothing.
He got nothing. Nothing for all the years and blood and death he'd poured into her damned cause. Nothing for all the suffering he'd both gone through and caused, for her! She dismissed him, and she disregarded the look of abject terror on all her generals' faces when his lit up with rage. She didn't bother to listen to them when they begged her to reconsider her flippant dismissal of this living legend, one of only three survivors.
She was lucky he decided to drop it.
He went back to his own life, relishing in the pointlessness of it all. He had not been recognised for his deeds, not by anyone. He had received no reward, no compensation, no thanks, nothing!
His life spiralled downwards.
Downwards, to the top of a ten story building.
He stood, teetering on the edge, his eyes full of tears, and his mind set on death. He could feel his life ending already. He was ready. He didn't want to live any more.
He fell.
The world slipped around him.
His breath stopped- he was holding it.
He hit the ground.
The concrete of the apartment building roof. He had fallen backwards.
But as he lay there, the tears cleared from his eyes, and he could see the beautiful night sky. He did not know why, nor how, nor if it was even possible, but in that moment, he regained his will to live. He went back downstairs, and for once he chose a cup of tea over a cup of whiskey. Chloe was, of course, ecstatic that he had not committed suicide.
And he got back to work, content with his lot as a smuggler at last. He no longer cared if people did not recognise him, because that stage in his life was over! It was done with! He could be free!
Except for that fact that his neighbour, a nice looking young lady named Chyler, kept looking at him, with her big blue eyes and rounded face and full lips, she kept looking at him. She his her emotions well, but these were too great for her to truly hide, and she let slip through her defenses her real thoughts.
A mixture of disgust and intrigue was what he saw in her eyes when she looked at him. Not even good intrigue, it was more 'How are you still alive?' than 'who are you?'.
And he could swear, that with her rosy, freckled cheeks, and her innocent looks, he could swear, when she looked at him like that, he could swear she recognised him. Not as Mauve that nameless bugger from next door who has too much Jack Daniels for his own damn good.
He could swear, just for a moment, when her defenses were down, and her husband not around...
He could swear she knew him as what he had been before.
Akincilar.
Physical Description: Tall, dark, handsome, and far older looking than he should be. I mean, the man is only 25, you know? He's got hair so dark it's been mistaken for black more than it's been called brown, and his eyes are the same colour, just wetter. However, his hair is riddled with streaks of grey, silver, and white, from the stress of the ruins of his past life as a Firefly. His beard is the same colour, moustache included. He is a well built man, with shoulders and arms remniscent of a rugby player. He used to be chubbier, but still strongly built, of course, but now, through the rigours of his professions, varied and violent they have all been, he had toned up.
Personality: Prone to a vicious streak when angered, he is still much happier than he used to be. Regardless of this, though, he maintains a suspicious attitude towards strangers, and is not afraid to kill people- it's what he used to do for a living, after all.
Well, no. He never did that for a living, actually. He did that for a cause. A cause he no longer believes in. He views the modern day fireflies as just as bad as the military was.
Flaws (MUST have at LEAST two): He is a very vicious person when angered, which lingers from his days as one of the feared and nigh-legendary Akincilar. Similarly, his almost complete disregard for self preservation and personal safety stems from this too, and from his old beliefs that he had nothing to lose. He has also never shot a gun, not in his entire life. He's used bows, and he can throw things brilliantly, but he's never used a gun, and doesn't plan to. It was part of his team's downfall before.
Fears (must have at LEAST one): He has a deadly fear of being discovered, and dragged back into war without his comrades. He's fine with small scale skirmishes, and even a medium sized battle- IF there is a way out available to him. But when the going gets rough, and he's on his own, with no way out, he succumbs to that fatalist attitude that had him balanced precariously between life and suicide on a rooftop not so long ago. Funnily enough, he doesn't fear heights, though.
Backpack (max. 6 items, cannot be overpowered):
- One French Cavalier sabre, plundered from a museum.
- One high quality, high durability ice pick.
- One Ancient Janissary Mask
- A small belt of smoke bombs
- A can of Tab diet cola, from a long, long time ago. It's still good, though. Sort of.
- A can of ham. God knows how they canned ham, but apparently it's edible.
Have you played The Last of Us or its DLC, Left Behind, before? Nay.
If not, do you plan on playing it soon? Nay. I do know a lot about this universe, though, as I write my own fanfics set in it. In fact, I'll be making another app eventually, for a character that actually appears in the fan fiction. This character too, will feature in it, although somewhat less of a role.
Other: You guys all sure seem good. I hope I don't get LEFT BEHIND.
Also, sorry about the bio. I couldn't help myself. 5 sentences just weren't enough.
Do be gentle with my poor app, by the way. Stuff kept getting deleted. It was frustrating as hell.
New record for the longest app I've ever seen. Accepted, feel free to start whenever. I might have to condense your app a bit if I want to add it to the OP...
@Holt: Unfortunately, we do not believe you have the necessary roleplaying skills to participate in an advanced RP at this time, and we are going to have to deny you.
Everything looks good, but I'd just like you to take out/modify the part about meeting Ellie and Riley. I know I'm probably being oversensitive, but I don't like getting the characters from the game involved in a fan-based RP, even if it's just in the history.
I can do a post-app retcon, if you really find it necessary, so that the two of them barely noticed eachother, and so that the Akicilar were conveniently out on sorties whenever Ellie was at the hideout, but it would feel wrong to remove her entirely from the equation.
And so it is. I won't edit the app, because MCForums seem to despise google chrome, and I might end up losing the entire thing, but from this point onwards, the two of them barely ever knew eachother, and the Akincilar were significantly less present during Ellie's stay with Marlene.
You do realize that you can copy anything from the forums into MW and edit it there, with no risk of losing it, right?
@Coco a mod would be good. Also for all future apps can we try and keep the history shorter? I haven't read Estars characters yet because I am going to wait till he posts in the RP and then ill come back and read his apps. I'm just saying for all future apps we should enforce the history length.
Well anyways, I can see some people coming in and being overwhelmed and im not a fan of huge histories, but thats just MY opinion.
@Ike Yeah I think hes saying hes outside our house...but im not sure. He could be referring to Bboy and Spartan. He could hop in on this moment with Sam, but I dont know if he is still active or not.
Okay, here's how things are going down from this point onward.
From this point on, histories are to be no longer than 10 sentences, but no shorter than 5. Anything other than that will be denied until modifications are made. As advanced RPers, you should all be able to establish a history in-RP. Funkybub, your app is fine, so you can start RPing. I know there is a lot of tension and disagreement focusing on history length, and I understand your thoughts, but I have to enforce a specific length or else things get way too hectic, and walls of text start forming. Since this RP is starting to get bigger than it used to be, I decided to appoint two members to the staff, one RP Moderator and one Mentor, or basically someone who can help a new member get used to a literate RP and develop the necessary level of literacy to participate here. EddieTheYeti is our new RP Moderator, and IkeBlues is our new Mentor. If you have any more questions/arguments on the history thing, feel free to PM myself or Eddie. Also, as a reminder, RP Moderators cannot accept apps, but they can deny them/request modification, issue warnings, settle disputes, and are also responsible for making sure everyone is participating actively.
@Estar Hey man sorry if it sounded as if I was irritated at your app history, it was nothing personal towards you. Me and Ike posted a summary of our characters earlier in the OOC thread and its the basic summary for whats going on now. Although now Sam is captured, so I suggest reading the quick summaries we posted earlier in the thread and then reading the last few posts, or just going back and reading through the whole thing. Which might sound like a pain but it would be worth it in the end. Glad to have you here, you seem like an experienced member,
@Bladerz You need to start the RP in Boston. You can make your way to other RP members if you wish but make sure it is realistic. Ike and I will be heading towards Jackson City, MI, sometime soon and will probably be there for a while, so you could try and come up for a reason for your character to head there and then run into our characters when they get to the city. If you need to edit your post, you could say it just took place in Boston and your character has a reason to leave Boston.
If I am posting for both of my characters in one post I will always put their names first. We can start doing the times/locations if thats what everyone wants to do. Although I can see that being a hassle for simple dialogue posts.
Does anyone recognize this song from Skyrim as one featured in some movie or something:

@Bladerz I think you will enjoy the RP a lot more if you just read through all the posts but its up to you, also welcome to the RP
Just so you know Jack and Jacob haven't come into contact with Daniel and Sam. So they are not with Me and Ike right now. Its up to Ike if we notice Robin or not. You could try making more direct contact with our characters though.

Thinking of promoting a member to RP Mod soon.
Hint
Has anyone here played Starbound?
@bboybreak When was his last post?
@Ike Yeah I think hes saying hes outside our house...but im not sure. He could be referring to Bboy and Spartan. He could hop in on this moment with Sam, but I dont know if he is still active or not.
