It took Sam a second to comprehend what was going on. She shook her head back into reality and helped Lily close all the blinds. She hurriedly ran to all the windows, closing the curtains and shutting the blinds.
Everyone was doing something to help, while Daniel worked on the radio frequency.
Sam took out her P9, shakily released the clip to check and make sure she had bullets, and reloaded the pistol.
She ran to the curtains she had been snuggling into the other day. Sam watched as snow started falling hard, making it hard to see outside.
Everyone froze as Daniel found a channel.
Elliot
Elliot led Terrance and Joey through the snow covered woods. They were in southern Tennessee. Duncan had told Elliot stories of the pre-infected world. He said it usually didn't snow in places like southern Tennessee but a few years after the infection hit, weather was a lot stranger than back in the day.
They were about 7 miles from camp because Duncan had sent them hunting. "Night is falling. We should stop here." said Terrance. As much as Elliot wanted to keep going, Joey looked nervous and Terrance looked exhausted. Elliot nodded and they set up camp.
Joey was making the fire as Terrance and Elliot sat on a log, checking their hunting rifles, and counting the game they had claimed today. Two deer, a few rabbits, and some squirrel.
"He is drinking again." said Terrance, referring to Duncan. Joey sat, tending to the fire, out of range from their conversation. "He has a lot going on...its just a few drinks here and there." Terrance shook his head, cleaning his rifle. "No. Its only a matter of time before he starts making the wrong decisions." said Terrance calmly. "Terrance you got to trust him. Look how far he has gotten us. We would not be here without Duncan. If he starts to slip...and it comes to that, we'll deal with it. But for now I am placing my trust in his hands. He wont do anything irrational, especially with you and Rick on council." said Elliot trying to reassure Terrance. Terrance let out a deep breath. "This damn cold is going to get us all killed before we can reach Colorado." said Terrance, moving over to the fire. Duncan has been drinking a lot lately... Thought Elliot as he loaded his hunting rifle. Elliot let out a sigh and went to huddle around the fire.
Jack
"Oh he's a tricky guy, I pretty dang sure he's alive." Jack replied. He floored the gas and shot down the freeway, heading towards Malis. "So kid. What's your story?" Jack asked to break the silence.
Oliver
Oliver's eye shot open. he quickly assessed his surroundings. He was in a truck, driving on the country road. he turned his head and saw Malis fading away behind him. There were two trucks ahead of his and two behind, and he could hear the drivers of his truck talking. he had to escape.
After two minutes of surfing, the radio started emitting transmissions.
"KshhI knohkkk snoshss." It crackled out. Daniel tuned it further.
"Yeah, snow's get'n worse," rumbled a voice, "You want us to head back to camp?"
"Stay out for another hour. If the scouts were right, then there's two crashed military vehicles, and well-stocked cars to raid." Answered a man.
"Jesus, Wheaton, I can't see three feet in front of my face."
"I said stay out another f*cking hour." The voice harshly retaliated. There was a hefty eight second pause.
"Okay." A brief silence, "Johnson wants to know what to do if we find survivors."
"I don't care if you kill them or not, but make sure you take everything."
"Jesus, everything?"
"Yes everything. Do I need to remind you that it isn't so f*cking easy here, either? Do you want more of our people to end up like Emily?! It's us or them, dip, and it's not going to f*cking be us."
There was no reply for another ten seconds.
"We'll be back in an hour." The first man answered.
Hazel (25 Days Before Current RP)
Hazel relaxed in the seat of her truck as she gunned it down the road. Her map sat propped up next to her, it's sharpied route guiding her to the towns. Over the past half hour, clouds had rolled in, threatening rain. Hazel hummed a made up tune as she rounded a turn. The woods let way to the sudden reveal of a downtown area. She slowed down her car as she road along Mainstreet. The whole town was dilapidated.
"Jesus, looks like the middle of a**-nowhere." Hazel observed, looking through the various stores, "There doesn't even look like there's something that carried solar panels." Nevertheless, she explored throughout the rest of the town, only to find that none of the businesses had it, and every home was either a mobile home or a shack.
She moved on to the next town.
For the most part, she had the same results. She did, however, raid some wood, shingles, and PVC piping from a small home improvement store.
Finally, she set on her way to the last town on her list. It was also the largest of the towns, and had chain stores, instead of the more limited family stores.
Upon reaching the town, she did a brief drive-thru of the town. Nothing jumped out at her, other than the fact that there were actual neighborhoods set up, rather than trailer parks. She decided to start in the more wealthy residential areas that were more likely to have solar panels, and then work her way down from there.
She found her way to "Far Oaks". It was a decently sized gated community, where the upper-middle class would have lived. She pulled behind the nearest house, got out, and started doing brief checks around all the houses, checking first the roofs, and then the basements.
((GAHHHHHH I HAD A BUNCH OF WRITING HERE AND THE FORUMS DELEATED IT! All you need to know is that after searching through another neighborhood, she found a couple of panels on top of a house. She was able to get them detached, but now she has to find a way to get them down))
She considered everything from dropping them, to tying them to her back and just walking down the latter very carefully.
Bam
A shot went off in the distance. Hazel froze.
Bambambam... bam-bam... bambam
Shots were being fired from multiple sources less than a mile away. She didn't have time to problem solve anymore. She left the solar panels hanging, and jumped off the roof, got into the truck, backed the truck underneath the ladder, climbed back up on the roof, and let the panels onto the bed as smoothly as possible.
When the last panel hit the bed with a way-too-scary thud, Hazel jumped into the cabin and gunned it out of the neighborhood. Her eyes flicked to the map, and prompted an orchestra of swearing as she realized that the only way back was through the area with the gunfire. She pressed the accelerator harder as she tore through the streets. Squealing around the corner, she caught sight of what had caused the gunfire.
A group of ten or so people stood around the car, holding a man and woman at gunpoint. Two of the larger group were digging through the car. All of them looked up and froze as Hazel flew down the nearest intersection. The captured man was first to react. He yanked the gun out of the nearest bandit's hands, and fired at him, hitting the bandit in the gut. Within the second, though, the rest of the guards peppered him from point-blank range. He crumpled to the ground. The woman freaked out, but was restrained by the guards before being executed by a shot to the head.
A group of four jumped into the stolen car, turned on the engine, and made a sloppy u-turn before giving chase to Hazel. Over the years, though, Hazel had become a very good driver. She skidded down the residential streets, cutting close corners around edges. Then, ahead of her, she saw a small group of people.
"People?" She asked herself, "No, wait... Clickers."
She slammed her palm onto the horn, pulling every Clicker out of hiding. A pack of roughly twelve meandered out of the nearby houses, much more than she had originally thought. They had no real chance of catching her fast moving vehicle, but the fast moving vehicle ten seconds behind her did have some problems. The Clickers ran screaming in the center of the road, trying to chase Hazel, while also hogging up all available space for the bandit's car.
The bandits swerved, hit a pair of Clickers, and impaled itself on a brick mailbox. The Clickers swarmed the car. Gunshots echoed from the car as the bandits began trying to fight off the horde.
Hazel swerved out of the residential area, and onto the main road.
"God, I hope they don't have another car." She said to herself as she drove back home.
Sams throat felt dry. "We'll be back in an hour." one of the men said over the talkie.
A silence came over the survivors.
Maybe they aren't bandits...Sam thought. They had mentioned the name Emily. Maybe they are just looking for needed supplies. The man commanding the two seemed to be harsh while the others froze at hearing what to do if they ran into survivors. What would they do? Sam looped her arm around Josephs arm and covered her mouth with her other hand. She waited for someone to break the cold, dead silence.
Jack
"Fine. I was with a survival group, the Union, for a bit. That's where I met Oliver. He was like a mentor to me, along with another guy, Sully. I also met a girl named Emma. We were... really good friends, but then the government attacked our camp and killed her and my little brother, Josh. He was nine, man, nine. It's why I hate them. So anyway, I blamed the Union for Emma and Josh's deaths and I ran away, went to Malis. I hoped I could find them there, but we were attacked and the Union guys killed. I barely escaped with my hide. So I was planning on going back to Boston top find the Union when... Shoot, Lights! get down" Jack was finishing up his story when he saw the light of a campfire. he quickly shut off the headlights and looked through his rifle scope. "Four Humvees and a prison van. They're Fireflies." Jack told Jacob.
"You know, back at the park. You all could have left me for dead, you could have even killed me and you didn't. Thats rare these days, but I believe these guys sound sincere."
Sam took a breath.
"I think we should give them a chance. Bernie said it himself. We have to leave here at some point, we should leave here with them on our good side."

"Okay, so we're clear." Joseph said, "Now what do we say?"
"We should say that we're just trying to get to Colorado, and that we don't want any trouble." Bernie answered.
"But how much of the truth should we tell them?" Joseph responded, "I mean, do we really want them to know we have enough supplies to last a month? They seemed really desperate."
"Just tell them we have enough to get by." Alex said.
"And what if they find out we're lying?" Bernie cut in, "Then we've ed off these people. We should be frank with them."
"Frank, Dad?" Lily interjected, "I already don't like letting them know that we're here, but we're certainly not telling them that we have enough gear for a small army."
"Look, we should just tell them we're ditching Boston. If they ask how much we have, we don't tell them. If they do, we say we have a gun for each of us, and that we'd be willing to trade ammo for safe passage. And we are NEVER going to say exactly where we are." Daniel put in.
Lily crossed her arms, "Sounds good enough to me."
"I guess that's as good as it's going to get." Bernie said grudgingly.
"Okay, so we're clear then." Daniel said, "Now who's going to make the call?"
Hazel (20 Days Before Current RP)
For the past five days Hazel was extremely precautious, not daring to leave the house any longer than necessary. Wake up, get water for the day, bathe, collect anything that had been snared the day before, read, sleep.
On the fifth day, though, she worked up the courage to begin venturing outside, and working on the solar panels. Wiring was set up on the east side of the roof, where the sun hit most consistently. Wiring throughout the rest of the house was reworked, with any obviously ruined electronics being taken out.
(17 Days Before Current RP)
Over the past three days, Hazel risked visits to one of the local mom-and-pop stores, and took any electrical equipment in working conditions. Much to Hazel's surprise, the store hadn't been picked over by scavengers. Either no one was alive to do it, no one had the technological capability to do anything with it, or someone had kept their electronics maintained since the beginning.
Upon getting home, she spent the next three days working on removing and replacing the faulty house wiring.
Jack
Jack stood up and let out a huge burst of fire from his AR-15, taking down the remaining nine Fireflies. "Alright, check the prison truck, I'll get some supplies from the other trucks." Jack shouted to Jacob, then jumped down from the Jeep.

"Sometimes in life, you gotta work for what you want. Now quiet, the lottery numbers are on." -Homer Simpson
Sam, knowing that a 16 year old girl would not be the best person to negotiate with other survivors, and possible bandits, decided to stay out of the call. Everyone looked to each other. "Daniel I think you should be the one to do it...and if they want a meeting place, we could find a nearby vacant house and meet there." Sam said looking to Daniel.
Sam took out her P9 and made sure everything was good. If she had to shoot to protect herself or anyone else in this group, she would.
Elliot
Elliot, Terrance, and Joey made their way back to camp. They collected enough food to last about 2 weeks. "Elliot you need to step up and help make decisions. I cant trust Duncan anymore." said Terrance as he walked next to Elliot, Joey leading the two up front.
"Terrance! You need to stop with this nonsense! Duncan is fine! He is going to get us to Colorado and everything will be fine!" Elliot yelled.
Terrance eyes went wide, but he avoided Elliots glare. Elliot sighed. "Im...im sorry friend." Elliot said putting his hand on Terrances shoulder. "I just worry about Sully and his group. I just want to meet up with them and reach Colorado." Terrance nodded. He took Elliots hand and shook it. "I know man, tensions have been high lately. I just worry for Duncan and I dont mean to sound ungrateful." "I know Terrance, if the time comes and he needs to take a break from leading, we will deal with it."
"Stop." Joey whispered, leading in front of Elliot and Terrance. He put his fist up and the group came to a halt. Elliot raised his hunting rifle and looked around the snow covered forest. In that moment he wished he had his M16. They were surrounded by trees and the camp was just ahead. "On the count of three. We run for camp. Duncan will surely have someone patrolling." Said Elliot looking to Joey and Terrance. They nodded as they surveyed the area. "One...tw.." Click click click "RUN!" yelled Elliot. The trio sprinted as fast as they could towards camp.
Screeches of runners and the clicking of clickers echoed throughout the forested area.
Camp was in sight, they could see the tents through the trees. Why was no one on patrol?! Wondered Elliot as they sprinted for camp. "Elliot!" Elliot turned and saw Terrance on the ground, scrambling to get up. Two runners were encroaching on him. "Joey, go for camp! Warn Duncan!" Elliot yelled when he saw Joey turn to help. Joey nodded and sprinted for camp to warn the others. Elliot quickly aimed his rifle and shot one of the runners sprinting at Terrance. Elliot was about to shoot the second one when he heard movement to his right.
Elliot turned just in time to block the bite from another runner. The runners mouth went into Elliots gun and Elliot pushed the runner back and hip fired. "AHHHH...gurgle."
Elliot turned towards Terrance. "Terrance!" He yelled shooting the runner on top of Terrance. He ran to Terrances side. Terrance was on the ground holding a bite wound on his neck. Blood was oozing from the wound.
"Terrance...Terrance hang in there..." said Elliot as he put his gun to the side, took a cloth from his pocket and pressed down on the neck bite. Terrance struggled to talk. "Elli...Ell...Elliot, let me go." "No Terrance! We just need to get you back to camp, and...we'll...we'll get you help!" Terrace gave a faint chuckle. "Elliot if the neck wound doesnt kill me...the bite will turn me itno one of those things. You KNOW that. Just..just let go." said Terrance, slowly trying to move Elliots hand from his neck. " No, no I cant! I wont!" Terrance lowered his hand to his side, and pulled out a 9mm pistol.
He used all his strength to thrust it into Elliots off hand. "Listen kid...I want to see my kids again...you know I wont survive this...just let me go." Terrances family had past away shortly after the outbreak. Tears rolled down Elliots face. "You're gonna do...great." said Terrance as Elliot released his hand from Terrances neck. The blood flowed out and Terrances face lost all color. Elliot sat there, holding Terrances hand with both of his hands, and waited for him to pass. He closed Terrances eyes shut.

Sam looped her arm around Josephs arm and covered her mouth with her other hand. She waited for someone to break the cold, dead silence.
"Mom?" Daniel asked, having never heard her drop the f-bomb.
"Lord, Daniel, what other way do you want me to put it?"
More silence.
"So do you think they're ?" Lily asked.
"I don't think they're bandits. They're survivors." Joseph said as he looped his arm off of Sam.
"There's a difference?" Alex his eyebrow rising up.
"It doesn't matter what they are, but I refuse to see the worst in these people. We should talk to them." Bernie said.
"Dad, we're not talking to them! He literally 'okay'd' us to be killed." Lily shouted.
"We have to leave at some point. I'd rather leave with them on our good side than their bad side." Bernie replied
"Lily, I agree with Burnie." Daniel said.
"I think we should vote." Emma said. Mumbled agreement came from the rest of the group, "All in favor of talking?"
Bernie, Daniel, Carolyn voted yet. Alex, Lily, and Emma voted no. Joseph abstained.
"Oh, great. A stalemate." Lily scoffed.
"It's not a stalemate... it's up to you, kiddo." Bernie said to Sam. All eyes fixated on the young girl.
"Fine. I was with a survival group, the Union, for a bit. That's where I met Oliver. He was like a mentor to me, along with another guy, Sully. I also met a girl named Emma.
Jack stood up and let out a huge burst of fire from his AR-15, taking down the remaining nine Fireflies. "Alright, check the prison truck, I'll get some supplies from the other trucks." Jack shouted to Jacob, then jumped down from the Jeep.
((Okay thanks for clearing that up. I am going to edit my post now.))
