Amaris just looked casually at the teacher as he threw the knife. It wasn't something new, she had seen stuff like it before. However, what was more fascinating was the attempt at making the test impossible, and indeed, in theory, it was. However, going by the most logical routes, some of the answers were pretty easy to answer. She simply started from the start and just briefed through it, making a simple calculation on how many souls it would take to the underworld and back with a single size with the diameter of 11.2 CM, which seemed like somewhere around the average. The problem however was that the calculation ended up covering half of the desk, and the pencil was almost stumped by the time she was done. However, she wrote down what she suspected to be the correct answer, somewhere between 5 and 6 million souls, for then to keep going on.
The answers started making less sense as she went on however. But there was no reason to not answer, there had been no mentions of wrong answers giving negative points, so why not just guess? She did however go with the most logical answers and gave short explanations under the answers, all of which were well thought through. However, she did still end up finishing it halftime. She stood up and walked past what seemed to be a wolf sitting doing the test right besides what looked like a viking, and handed in the test and the stumped pencil, for then to return to her seat, sitting down besides the viking or whatever it was again, studying him from the side for a short moment before starting to rid the table of all the calculations for the first answer.

If you see me on this site, it's probably because I'm not particularly interested in it. Or I may be slightly intoxicated, though probably you won't see me here.
Maple walked into the classroom cheerfully, completely obvlivious to the half dozen of blades flying by her and the numerous glares of other students. As the uncannily gender neutral student called out to her, she nodded and cheerfully pranced over to sit besides Casey.
When she got to her seat, a piece of paper and a pencil were conveniently incrusted in the table for her. She smiled and grabbed the pencil, ready to fill out the questions. She seemed to remember the basics of writing from her past life, despite never having seen a pencil before. She was, nonetheless, facinated by the leafy properties of "paper" Smiling as she inspected the sheet, completely ignoring the fact that her time to answer the test was running low, she turned around to face Casey and blissfully asked while holding the sheet of paper:
-"This is a really cool writing thing! What is it made of?"

Casey smiled as the girl walked without a care among the flying knives, though it was quite obvious the teacher wasn't exactly aiming to hit. The intimidation factor completely lost for a brief moment, Casey greeted the girl with a smile, assaulting her with pleasantries. "Hey there! My name's Casey. Since you're kinda late, and most probably the last person I'd meet for now, what say you we'd be roommates, hm? Give it some time, though. I suggest we finish our test for now." Casey turned back to her work, finishing off the few questions she left behind.
Cas smiled at her bubbly behavior, though was mildly confused and vaguely amused at the question she asked. "Why that's just regular old paper," Cas answered, an eyebrow raised in interest. "It is made from the leaves of trees, mashed into a pulp, dried, and compressed into the fine sheet you are holding in your hand." Continuing with his test, Cas continued, "Wherever do you come from? Paper is a common resource nowadays, used pretty much everywhere in the world where it can be produced with ease and comfort." A few more to go, and Cas was done with his test. After neatly fixing it, on his desk, he turned once more to face the girl. "Why do you ask?"

Aiden looked over his answers again and felt a small tingling sensation at the tip of his fingers. He ignored it but when he felt it again, there was a visible spark. His eyes opened wide and he quickly pulled it down and put it under him. I still haven't discharged enough!? What do I do...? Uh...
Aiden slowly got up after a few moments and raised his other hand hand. Without waiting for the instructor to allow him to speak. "Sir, may I go to the restroom?"
-"Ah, so that's what it is!" Maple answered happily. After processing the thought for a couple seconds, her face turned blank.
Staring at the sheet of paper with empty eyes, the muffled screms of a thousand tormented souls filled her with despair. The memories of a thousand trees rushed her mind with desperate cries for help. A truly maddening fear assaulted her, as she turned around and looked at her classmate, nonchalantly writing on the processed remains of his slaughtered kind.
"N-No reason in particular" she said with the best fake smile she could produce. "T-Trees, you say? The big, green leafy kind?"

Casey looked up from her work, unconsciously picking up her pencil and biting on its edge. "Hm? Yes, I should think so. Cost efficiency would dictate that trees with larger, leafier leaves are better for paper production, since more leaves equals more paper." Casey started doodling something on a spare sheet of paper, calculating on average how much paper is produced by a single tree. "See, here I've written down what I know, which is basically some few trees that are commonly used, such as Oaks, Spruce, and Maples." Pointing over to a few neatly made diagrams, she continued, "While spruce trees are best due to the density of their leaves, the core of the tree is also needed in production of paper, so they usually use Oaks. Maples are sort of an in between. It's a shame that producers sometimes deforest entire lands for the sake of money, though."
Blinking twice, he finally noticed the girl's state, completely being lost in his 'research paper'. "U-hm, are you alright?" Concern was etched on Cas' face, gears turning in his head, slowly warning him with a barrage of 'oh crap oh crap oh crap' ringing off inside his head. Finally it clicked. "Don't tell me...are you a dryad? Oh gosh I am so sorry I was being insensitive I wasn't looking I wasn't even thinking oh please please please don't cry!"

As this terrible truth became known to her, Maple stared at the paper in front of her. How many of her prescious trees had been murdered so that she could answer a test? How many of these papers did the school use each day? They were too many to even imagine. A single tear ran down her face as Casey attempted to console her. But it was useless. She wasn't listening anymore. She leaned to the left, and fell over, unconcious.
Well then, the first thought that rang through Mark's mind as the teacher threw out pencils casually and the test was passed to him. As he read the bizarre questions his face took a blank expression. Maybe this was a trick and we are suppose to ask the teacher for help? I doubt it, maybe there was a mistake? This has to be a test of our personality rather than our actual knowledge or something i suppose. Maybe I'm just incredibly ignorant, but wouldn't my father have talked about this during our training? As Mark pondered about this strange test he began looked at the questions once more, kittens? Length of Souls? Blood of a loved one? These questions do not seem practical for battling demons, it must be a test of our personality.
He began to think do i like kittens...?
just then a female voice is heard from behind him saying "good morning", he almost turned to see who it was but he was focused on his test and simply ignored whoever it was entering the room.
On a scale of 1 - 10 how much do i enjoy petting kittens? A smirk ran across his face as the strange thought of kittens ran through his mind. I guess that is a 5 so I'll put 5 kittens.
Ok amount of souls it would take to reach the underworld and back, well it would depend on how tainted the soul was i suppose maybe it would be smaller or larger. He continued answering the questions until he completed the test and by the end he felt mentally exhausted by the questions that seemed to be completely random as some of the questions asked for a specific answer that didn't seem personality related.
((Sorry for the short post, I have a class to attend so i have to leave now, but i felt that i should answer your questions.))

Stratos accepted Amaris' paper, spinning it around once on the desk before pushing it neatly towards the far corner, after which he went back to his rolling the pencil back and forth thing, clearly entertained, but not so much so that he couldn't throw knives towards all those students who talked, and even those who were asking questions. "Genderthing and plant-thing, bring your papers up front and take her to the infirmary, it's the big building to the left of the exit just down that corridor." The hunter motioned with his arm towards the door and then rested his head on the table on his crossed arms, presumably going to sleep." He mumbled something along the lines of "Electric dude, you can go, but it means handing your test up now." One of his forearms swiveled to point towards the paper sitting on his desk, indicating 'the pile.'
After that the teacher presumably was asleep, not willing to answer any more questions. Though when a student began to whisper the knifes did not stop flying, by now there were at least 23 knives lodged in walls for each of the instances of talking.
Mythril Stormbound
Mythril's head slid further along her desk, she couldn't answer any of the questions, she didn't even have any pet kittens. -This stinks, i'm going to fail this thing already and proper classes haven't even started.- She rolled her face on the desk for a bit before sitting up and fixing her hair. -No, i'll answer at least one of the questions!- She clenched her fists heroically before slipping up and looking at someone in the row below her, whoever it was they were still writing their name, as if they were scratching it out perfectly, there were a large number of scrap rubber from their pencil's eraser which was now almost all gone.
A knife whistled through the air, pinning itself to the wall on the other side of her head to the first knife. Mythril turned slowly to see but stopped, not wanting a third one to appear.
Aiden grabbed his paper filled with answers as absurd as the questions. He started making his way towards the instructor's desk and mumbled. "E-electric dude...? I hope that doesn't catch on..."
He put the paper on the teacher's desk and another spark appeared. He quickly withdrew his hand. "Th-thank you, sir..." Quickly running for the door, he made his way to the restrooms. He ran down the corridor. Library... Library... Library... He reached the restrooms and ran in. He started panting after going over to the faucet. He took a deep breath and when he exhaled, lightning discharged from his entire body, breaking everything it connected with. After a few seconds, the lightning dispersed and most of the restroom was destroyed, the lightbulbs broken and the mirrors shattered. He heaved a sigh and made his way back to the classroom. He came back in and walked to his seat.
Adam quickly wrote his name on the test that was placed in front of him. Glancing through the questions he started to answer the first ones. Ok, I'll go with none, A, 29, C, True, True, 75'000'000, What? Adam stared at the nonsensical question, having no idea what it could be he looked at the next question. This one makes even less sense! he thought. Flicking through the rest he saw a pattern emerge. I will have to guess then.
Halfway through guess the last questions a late student walked into the room. There was the sound of greetings and flying knives followed by chatter near him and finally someone fainting. Adam glanced at Aiden, seeing that he was still sitting he glanced along the row he was sitting in but stopped when a knife embedded itself near his head. Oh, it is the new girl who fainted. He wanted to help but seeing all the knives the teacher threw already, he decided to wait until the exam is over. He finished the strange exam and placed it on the teachers desk before hurriedly returning to his seat.

"E-er, um, ah.." Casey stuttered, stumbling upon her words at this turn of events. She certainly wasn't so believing at first, especially due to the knives flying around when someone broke a rule, and she broke far too many just by having the nameless...'plant-girl', as the teacher called her, come over to her for her selfish reasons. However, she decided she'd be much better off simply obeying after all the trouble she'd caused, and anyway, plant-girl might be suffering from a heart attack. Quickly fetching both papers and rushing off to the pile of submitted tests, she slammed it down with unnecessary force, sprinted back and carried the plant girl bridal style off to the infirmary. Following the man's instructions, she hurried off, mumbling a quick apology to everyone around for the inconvenience and for making such a scene.
A hasty retreat to the infirmary later confirmed it to be nothing more than a simple fainting. Of course, there was the part where she hit her head on the floor because no one attempted to heroically catch her, she was pretty fine. While a bandage wouldn't do much good, Cas had the nurse move her over to a brighter, well lit area that received plenty sunlight. Finding not much else to do, Cas hung around, chatting amicably with the cute nurse who, after gaining the story from Cas, decided she had every right to bash her checklist on his head. While admittedly deserved, Cas was still pretty miffed at the event.
After being handed an icebag(that checklist is surprisingly hard and was efficiently weaponized), Casey decided to merely pout and be generally annoyed at the nurse, who she still hadn't fully forgiven. However, due to her nature, she eventually befriended the nurse, gaining a complimentary kiss-on-the-boo-boo in addition to the icepack. While such behavior was highly immature on the nurse's part, it was well appreciated, and Casey stayed in the room in a better mood.

Though just how far would you fall for a dream?
(( The words in these things [ ] are basically Melyssa's reactions to events a bit farther back (The teachers explanation and the beginning of the test) and could probably easily be skipped without missing much. ))
[Melyssa had watched the teacher come in and give their introduction about classes, finding his appearance fairly impressive but finding the sword a bit too flashy and wondered if it was more functional than it appeared. Ok so there's are bladed skill mastery and Hunting Equipment 101. The bladed one could help me a little with wielding my little sword and if he goes into details about certain demons that will certainly help too. Now what exactly could the equipment one help with. It's probably just about what basic equipment everyone needs. Hmm and there's this strange strange ritual class he mentioned, guess I'll look out for that teacher when they come. She listened on a little longer as he answered the first question. So they'll put the time tables on the class doors, ok. The question about phones; He has some nice knife throwing skills, does he have an ability linked to that? A kid, White, asked about today's events and the answer wasn't that important to her. She did take note of the answer to the dorm one. Who should I room with?
Shortly after the instructor finished answering questions he'd passed out papers and pencils. It was some sort of practice test. At first she'd been worried when she first saw it, wondering if the higher ups responsible for her would know if she bombed it, but had to stop herself from laughing when she saw the questions. What the...What's this guy trying to pull? Is this like one of those things they pull on freshmen? Or is it like some sort of mental thing where they see if we answer with logic or imagination? Or is he just using this to say that any information given before this test is worth nothing? Oh well doesn't help thinking about it.
After wrangling in her thoughts she signed the paper with her chicken-scratch handwriting and began trying to answer the questions to the best of her ability forcing herself through the idiotic questions. When she was nearly done the plant girl had entered with a loud good morning and had nearly been stabbed to death (although she figured the teacher wasn't actually trying to kill her.), she'd found the girls obliviousness amusing and figured that she should talk to her later. Later though it seemed the plant had a panic attack and passed out. Well then.]
Melyssa finished her test and put her pencil down. She leaned back into her chair, folded her hands on her lap, and waited for further directions.
Chayse
He had noticed that a girl had entered the room, shouting out 'Good Morning' to everyone. Chayse immediately dropped the paper due to the sudden noise and fumbled with it, making sure not to let it fall on the ground and putting it back on the table. Wanting to also greet the girl back, he had noticed the teacher's reaction towards people who talk during tests: Getting knives thrown past their faces, only a few inches away from a cut.
Chayse himself continued to take his pen and twirl it around, for a few seconds using his imagination to play around with it, pretending it to be a sword and such. As he did so, he noticed that Casey and that girl who had just arrived got out of the room. Did that girl lose her breathe and got unconscious suddenly?, he wondered. Then, he immediately decided to get back to the paper. More determined than ever, he payed close attention to the questions, looking carefully at the font and examining them with great detail. He had answered some of the easier questions that made sense, but when he had came across a tough and unsolvable question, he was about to freak out.
"Oh man, these questions don't make any freaking sense!", as he said the last word, a dagger flew and got itself stuck on the table, just a few inches away from slicing his right hand. He was a bit caught off for a second, but then turned and immediately looked at it closely, smiling and moving his finger to examine the texture of the metal.
"Hey, can I keep these?", he was responded with another knife thrown directly next to his left hand. He himself admitted that he wasn't expecting that. However, Chayse tore the weapon out, smirking at the sight of it as he looked at the craftsmanship on it. "Oooo... shiny...", he whispered quietly to himself as he could see his reflection in the metal.
"Haha, thanks sir!". Chayse then got the other knife out of the table, placing the two weapons directly in front of him on the table, leaving them there for later, he would collect them later. He then got back to the questions and read them again, coming to the conclusion that he would rather guess and probably get the question right, rather than to not answer it with no chance of getting anything right. He then randomly circled some objective questions, and then write down his best guess on some of the harder questions.
Having handed in his exam and pencil, Adam wrote a few notes concerning the questions asked before the exam. Feeling rather bored he started looking out the window.
From the window Adam could clearly see the garden where he waited for class. He watched the birds argue about who got which branch until another knife embedded itself next to him.
He quickly looked down at his desk again, I thought the teacher was asleep, how did he know I was looking out the window? Adam proceeded to play with his lantern. Making it glow slightly, but not very brightly as not to disturb the other students.
((Note, unless specified otherwise assume that the light coming from the lantern is normal light not Lampad's light.))
Kallistratos Shademail
Kallistratos slid out of his chair and stood up sleepily, yawning as he did so. "Okay." He looked out the window for a minute before looking back at the students. "Okay, time's up. Put down your pencils and leave them on my desk. There is a short intermission before you need to be back here, about an hour." Stratos stopped for a second to point out the pile of completed papers. "When you get back, there will probably be a different Hunter here waiting for you, as far as i'm informed, it will be your ritual teacher, he's pretty cool i suppose." Stratos went back to staring out the window for a minute before coming to his senses and sitting back down in his chair.
"It'd help if you could also bring up any of them shiny knives, if they are stuck don't worry." He pointed to a couple of outlying rows where older looking blades were permanently wedged into the concrete platforms that made up the rows and held the curved desks bolted in place. "Happens all the time." Some of blades showed only a sliver of their handle poking out and otherwise wouldn't be recognized as knives. "If you're interested in these sorts of blades i will probably be explaining where to buy stuff around town in our first blade class." He withdrew one slowly from a pouch and began rolling it between his fingers. "They really only work on demons and sort of just bruise people." He pretended to throw it. "Really depends on how much force is applied though..." By this point he was sort of just mumbling to himself.
Mythril Sunbound
Mythril hurriedly finished the question she was on, she had mostly ignored the first page, drawing pictures of turtles and birds wearing top hats in most of the areas allocated for writing, she had instead focused on the multiple choice, answering them as legitimately as possible as there was always a chance to get them correct. She let out a sigh of relief and picked up her paper, waiting for the others to file out of the row she was in, carrying the paper to the desk at the front and placing it awkwardly on the pile, dragging her sword behind herself. Mythril looked around a bit but waited for others to leave before she did, not quite sure if it was correct to leave at this time. She watched as the other E rank students went their ways into the courtyard mostly, in their pre-existing friendship groups, or all by their lonesome.
After a few seconds of moving back and forth, Mythril decided to head out into the courtyard herself, as this seemed to be the most common action among her peers, there was such a variety of different hunters in the class, all with different styles and skills. Mythril thought it would be fun to have a quick look and see who does what. Mythril slung Swordy over her shoulder and waltzed into the courtyard, looking around to see what little hunter groups were already forming, she had seen something somewhere about taking missions together, but couldn't remember the details specifically. "The next teacher will probably explain that stuff to us."
Looking around the courtyard, Mythril saw a couple of student groups forming, mostly the more outgoing students, those who wore armor and looked like they knew what they were doing. "Those students probably have been here for a year or so already, their equipment looks relevant." Mythril ignored Altimeus and sat down on a nearby bench, watching this one particular group, they were sort of just marveling at a couple of guy's armor and such, though it didn't look that special, the person with the six swords had much more impressive armor. "I wonder what my first mission will be."
Mythril looked to her left, she could see one side of the infirmary in the distance, it looked quite large, though that was to be expected when the main actions performed by this academy was fighting demons. She wondered what kinds of weird treatments went on in there, but stopped herself. "Mmm..." Mythril looked away, she didn't want to think about hospitals, they were too creepy. Back over by the armor guy she watched as a couple of the new girls were being as cliche as physically possible beyond running to school with toast in their mouth because they were late. She turned her head back towards the exit to see if any of the other E ranks she recognized were leaving the building yet, also because she didn't want to throw up.
Maple yawned as she awoke, with drowsy eyes. Looking around, she was in an unfamiliar white bed in a similarly bright room. She had never been outside her forest before, so she wasn't much familiar with the concept of an infirmary. Casey was standing a couple feet from her, with a strange look on her face. Recalling the events of her blackout, her face once more filled with sorrow, but it was quickly replaced with eager determination. She still didn't know exactly where she was, but in the context of her fainting in the middle of class, it was fairly easy to figure out. Recovering her composture, she glared at Casey and said with a serious voice:
"Where can I buy stone tablets? And a chisel too."
Adam was startled a bit when the teacher said time was up, he had stopped paying attention after he finished the exam. He quickly grabbed his lantern, his notbook, pens and his bag before attempting to pry the knives from the table. He had some success with removing them but almost fell backwards when they finally budged. Noticing that his lantern was still glowing he quickly extinguished it and ran outside into the courtyard.
The light was warm and comforting and a slight breeze had started. What wonderful weather we're having he thought. He sat down near Mythril, hoping to start a conversation.
With a grim look on Mark's face he yawned as he stood up with his test and pencil and began to creep towards the teachers rectangle platform desk. As his mind began awaken from its deep state of thought he quickened his pace to a normal walk as he approached the pile of test papers and proceeded to drop his pencil and paper in their appropriate piles. His mouth was dry and he began to wonder how long had it been since he have arrived at this academy. As he returned to the desk he occupied during the test he picked up his sword and daggers and left the room. Seeing a great deal of people heading towards the courtyard he decided that would be a good place to talk to people and maybe even get the time. He walked towards the courtyard but didn't quite know who to talk to seemed like many people were already in conversation or seemed as though they didn't want to be bothered. A bewildered expression came across his face as he sluggishly moved into the courtyard.
Chayse
He looked up to notice the teacher calling back for the sheets of paper and those knives, just as he was already answering the last question with the best guess he could muster. With that, Chayse took up the test and two blades, returning them back to the teacher. With that, he walked out of the classroom with his backpack on, whistling as he did so as he moved his hand, gesturing for Beo to follow. The wolf simply nodded and walked behind him, leaving behind a paper and a gnawed pencil covered in some saliva.
Once entering the courtyard, he noticed that many of the people were also here, either talking to themselves or just calming themselves down in this tranquil place. Chayse took a few short strolls around the area, walking on the paving stones before noticing that the tree he was sitting next to from before was now occupied by two people. Chayse just decided to go and make friends again, as after all, he had a whole hour to practically do nothing or to mess around.
Smiling, he sat down next to what he assumed was a human(in this place you can never be sure), and hopefully, started a conversation with the person. Beo sat beside his partner as well, looking around and just playing with the grass next to him.
"Hey there, how did the test go?", he said in a friendly manner as he realised that both of them really didn't even know each other yet. Knowing this, he decided to make an introduction towards him, as he leaned calmly on the tree, relaxing on both his hands behind his head.
Amaris just looked casually at the teacher as he threw the knife. It wasn't something new, she had seen stuff like it before. However, what was more fascinating was the attempt at making the test impossible, and indeed, in theory, it was.
Sometimes I wonder if it's all too easy.
Lying, cheating, stealing your way to victory.
Though just how far would you fall for a dream?

"Where can I buy stone tablets? And a chisel too."
The light was warm and comforting and a slight breeze had started. What wonderful weather we're having he thought. He sat down near Mythril, hoping to start a conversation.
"Hello, how did you go on that exam?"
"The name's Chayse. Nice to meet ya."
