Still they pose a small threat. Really its your navy that's the issue, and make the assumptions you wish we will see what happens when China tries to annex the last vestige of democracy in Northern Europe.
And Stockholm would most likely be your industrial center. And it'd be years to appropriately react. By which point Swedish industry would be leveled and the ability for them to sustain war severely crippled. Let alone react to the sub-orbital threat.

Slow down, bro. You are just Sweden.
Sweden: the nation with big-dreams but no real power, prestige, or resources to get it done.

I will probably be stomped by China, but losing is fun too.
France? Prussia? Anyone in this commie infested hell hole of an alt. reality?
Honestly i'm only doing this because its what i wanted to do for a long time and its the most sensible option story wise.
Commies need to keep their tentacles out of Europe anyhow.
Because you know what, if it happens, i will go out with tact, class, and style
*Edit* And war against China would be bad considering the US is our only escape from Canada without getting caught right now.
Meanwhile I've decided to put the map for POW into the Victoria 2 map. Just because.

Anyhow, while looking around the wiki I noticed Japan still has its empire [to an extent].
Not a fan of Japan becoming part of the ASB though. Japan could be that one country that simply refuses to submit to the Chinese communist empire.
It will be the most fun i have had rping in a hella long time.
Tell me everything I need to take into account of Japan. What I currently am aware of is the neutrality Japan has with China currently as well as the Emperor betraying his people by wanting to become a Chinese puppet/part of the ASB. I'll make a 1977-1980 sheet like the others seen here for my "app".
As for Mateo Diaz methinks i'll start him off on a island near italy, one that's very small and obscure where he probably wouldn't be noticed for a few years. Chances are with the civil conflicts he probably wasn't noticed. Though Wehr can choose when to initiate the discovery of Mateo, since i'm content with making posts about his life in isolation.
Briller is still an NPC somewhere in Africa playing congo with the natives.
Hirohito actually ended up deciding against joining the ASB, and instead formed a counter-organization, the UDA (United Democracies of Asia). Part of this consisted of granting some former Japanese Imperial holdings independence (S. Korea, Indonesia). The first head of this organization was to be (Insert name here) Nori, as president. (I forgot his first name, if I ever did give him one.) I generally had set it up to be kind of a constitutional monarchy, where the President would generally take power, with the Emperor being the figure head.
Though, if you were against this, and wanted to go full on Empire still, Hirohito's son would probably be angry, since the whole reason this happened was because Hirohito didn't believe his son was ready or capable to rule the country as the next emperor yet. (Too irresponsible, hasn't experienced enough in his life yet, etc) So if you wanted, you could probably make it so over the timeskip, Hirohito's son rebelled, demanding the Empire stay as it was, and he become the new emperor. (The people would probably back him, as well. Again, only if you want to follow this route.)
Something else to note is that before I left it, Japan developed and began producing one of, if not the, fastest jet to date. (I think Poland has one that matches it's top speed.) So that's something the country will have at it's disposal, as well.
I think that's everything important. So, let me know if you need any more info, and I'll try to dig it up/remember it.

I'd prefer if you didn't start with all the colonies back and everything though. I'd like to see you play through some of it at least.

Edit. Fine tuned it so you just have to click to go to a specific country.
Double edit:I honestly would like to see his son take over, as well. The only reason I made the UDA was so I could leave Japan with no loose ends. It probably will blow up on itself at some point or another. Also, I can't remember, but I think Australia joined it at some point.
Triple edit!!!
I posted! Oh my god! Stereotypical James Bond music for the MI6 mission and all.

Late 1977
-Emperor Hirohito's public image wanes, due to his unpopular actions with the dissolution of the Japanese Empire to create a weak form of government in the midst of a powerful dragon empire. His brief attempts to join the ASB have also made him look weak as an emperor, and the fear of Chinese subversion has only increased since the fiasco. Vandalism, especially of the graffiti kind starts becoming more common.
-Hirohito openly announces something that shocks a large part of the nation, who for the most part supported Imperial Japan due to the heavy Nationalist zeal brought about from powerful foreign enemies and a history of militarism. In a action of "intense devotion to the UNA", he proclaims that when he dies, Nori will become the next emperor as to further promote the unpopular UNA.
-A General by the name of Ito is arrested for accusations of being part of the Yakuza, which suspiciously coincided with a speech he made that denounced the whole idea of the UNA claiming that it signified the death of Japanese culture.
-Akihito, being the age of forty seven and being raised for much of his life for the future role of emperor finds this a betrayal of the empire as a whole, not just himself. For this is not a change he deems for the better, but sees it as a more subtle way of enabling ASB subversion of Japan. Using the waning popularity of power to his advantage, Akihito with a loyal group of officers [in this reality Akihito was given a commission to military officer due to conditions not given from WW2, which explains his more imperial tendencies] starts plotting a coup against his father.
1978
-Hirohito tries to initiate increased trade with Spain, going as far as to travel to Spain himself to initiate plans for far distance trade with Japan. The higher ups of Spain ultimately deny the offer, mainly due to them being too damn far. During his trip, due to a very incompetent doctor, Hirohito contracts AIDS. He is not informed.
-With a quarter of the military, and majority of the civil population on his side, Akihito begins to mobilize his forces. He however, wants to make the civil conflict have as little Japanese blood spilt as possible; the military after all, will have much use once he gets back in power and wearing it down from a extended revolt is the last thing he wants.
-Hirohito by February is discovered to have AIDs, and is in fatal condition.
-This tragic death coincides with Nori becoming emperor and the revolt led by Akihito. Helping Akihito is an ex-general who was imprisoned for supposed affiliations with the Yakuza, Ito Masaru. This general was very antiquated with guerrilla tactics, and used this to his advantage to subdue the loyalist armies.
-The civil conflict overall lasts for about a month, the casualty rate not that high. This is due to Nori secretly not wanting emperor status, rather he feared the loss of the constitutional system and the rise of an absolute monarchy or even worse, a regression back to the shoganate. Ultimately, his strength to fight was worn down rapidly due to the insidious nature of the foe. The general Ito just didn’t play by the rules and Nori lacked the morale or spirit to keep the civil conflict going.
-By the middle of May, Nori and his forces surrender to Akihito as the 'new imperial army' surrounded the Imperial House of Japan. In a act of surprising mercy, Akihito decides to have Nori put into position of Prime Minister. Akihito didn’t hate Nori, and Nori promised continued devotion to the reinstated Empire of Japan. However, the system kept to a constitutional monarchy system like that used a decade before. General Ito would also be promoted to Grand Marshall for his tactics and decisive victory over Nori’s forces.
-June fifth would be known as the Imperial Restoration, as it brought back the old flag of Imperial Japan exactly the same as it was before.
-The rest of the year entailed the start of a series of new policies known as the Arkihito Policies that would define his rule as emperor. The first action was the dissolvement of the UNA, which to the former colonies meant that they no longer had the protection of Japan from the ASB's spread, and were likely to either end up under imperial Japan again or the ASB.
[[I'll finish the rest tomorrow as well as modify this to any issues with it. I should note that while I haven't gotten to it yet, Japan is either doing espionage to try to bridge the tech gap between Japan and China more or getting defectors who give away some of their secrets. Whichever one Aaron thinks makes more sense, I think it's feasible to believe Japan would use such means tot ry to bridge the tech gap, after all if one side has the maxim, that's no good for the side who doesn't!]]
Bases in the arctic were reestablished, but not for the fuel in the antarctic
Oh, and evan - if Pergamese Greece is going to end up seceding from the Ottomans, it's highly likely that they'd end up in some sort of civil union with Greece, which would mean that they could logically declare the re-establishment of the Byzantine Empire, which would be sick. Someone do this.
