Has anyone ever played Command and Conquer? You know? Back in the '95? Before EA was evil? Or the recent one: C&C3. I love that game to death.
C&C4 doesn't count. EA ****ed it up badly.
It seems pretty RP worthy.
C&C? It's my favourite saga from my childhood! The greatest one is Red Alert 2, but that was ****ed up with RA3. If that doesn't count, then I say that either Tiberian Sun or Tiberium Wars (C&C 3) are the best games that the saga has to offer.

I think they just used RA3 as an excuse for titties and hotpants.
In other news, turns out I'm making the entire Absolution map into a MC map. The entire map. It'll be a bit more condensed, but still. I am an idiot for starting this now.
That's three mass invasions within the same bloody month! I mean, seriously! The UDTU is attacking now, Blue has a sleeper attack coming soon, and now an invasion by space pirates? What is this, Russia if every american-made FPS happened at once?! - MagicallyDwarven
I don't know, If you could make it more accessible to the public, instead of just fans for the game. i'll take a look at it.

I will pretty much only make RPs that are 'sci-fii' or plain weird (like complex), and to balance it out play RPs that are not of those genres.
I've had non sci-fi RPs in the past, but I just end up disliking them or not 'feeling' them. One of the major issues with me is my amosity towards magical stuff, especially in my own RPs. Really, if I were to allow mages I would find a way to kill their ass the second they do anything that's OP to me.
I've considered contemporary fantasy for some reason, but not like "its modern day but some teenage douchebag mages have magic and are super special must must save the world from the generic evil guy", more like while the RP maintains a internal consistency you will see some crazy ass **** like people with **** loads of robotic augmentations gone insane, epic sized temples you can fly a helicopter through while having to mow down giant bat-like creatures with a chain-gun. Stuff like that. I guess you could say Savant's that too an extent, but even savant is rather 'grounded' arguably.
However I just never thought of an idea that felt that aquedately awesome or fleshed out in a consistent structure that would make for an awesome RP.

One day, there will be someone who looks at my signature and wonders "who gives a damn?"
"its modern day but some teenage douchebag mages have magic and are super special must must save the world from the generic evil guy"
LMAO.
So anyways, coming to the topic of that annoying Roleplay idea that so many people know and love, Magic. Just my opinion, but professionally I just don't care about it more-over than hate it. Hate is a strong word that I like to refer to for things like spiders. *Shivers*
But, the thing about magic is nobody ever really... Makes it interesting... Like in the quote, you just basically defined what magical Roleplays have been for the entire Forum Roleplay history (Exaggerating that, of course). Oh so you ate something and became supernatural? Seems legit. Oh you were born with these powers? Oh you have access to that last 90% percent of your brain? Okay.
Well, nobody ever likes to elaborate on it, making it unlikable to me. I like Roleplays that are somewhat logical or at least have a good explanation/backstory. Let's look at the fact you and I would love, if we made a thread with magic, to kick someone's ass the minute they do something OP (Which is probably inevitable). Nobody limits players to what they can and can't do. It takes monumental amounts of energy to perform any sort of magical action, like bending matter to your will which is mostly what magical Roleplays entail. They lift up an eighteen-wheel semi and throw it at a group of the generic evil guy's minions and then backflip while firing off a massive bolt of lightning. When they land they slam their fist into the ground and suddenly the Earth around them rises in sharp plates and fires off at the remaining enemies. (Of course, more exaggerating.)
I'm just trying get across the energy use it takes to be magical, especially the mind-reading/super-smart ones. Intelligence comes at a price, and that's why Humans have been evolved so perfectly to the point where they get the maximum amount of efficiency and intelligence without having to use so much energy. And even then, we eat and sleep constantly. I do like the idea of some specified hero teens being able to command another 20% of their brain power, combined with a larger sense of willpower that when combined with this intelligence - You can bend matter. (People underestimate sorts of Light-Bending, often going with a seemingly badass Shadow-Bending... What people don't realize is that you can actually speed up and slow down time (to an extent) with light (colors specifically) because it bends and refracts so easily, and so much. Making any character with an easy ability to bend light a logical and fairly underpowered fighter. Slow down timing a bit, dodge an incoming punch, and counter.
But anyways, just wanted to put in my two cents. I agree with you oZode. Although... I don't know on what part... Just wanted to talk on magic.
Clearly everyone is disreguarding "SoulBound" Its a modern magic RP with Huge Limits and actual standards on posts. I put several hours into that, it has maps, damage calculations, mass limits and all sorts of things that have worked soo far to prevent any real OP moments. Then everyone goes and disreguards it, thinking its another casual magic teen RP, when the average age is around 22 of the IC characters and pretty much every single post is a paragraph or so. I went to great measures to put a ranking system that rewards those who post more often and in greater amounts, giving people actual reason not to do one or two liners..
The thing about magic is that is requires framework in RPs. It's really just to keep the munchkins from OPing over everything like oZode said, but even conventional games give limits; the most common example being a mana bar.
If you want to include a legitimate magic mechanic in your RP you have to say, "Ok, here are the rules: see this bunch of themes I've set up here? Magic works that way and only that way. Any way that you decide to use magic has to refer back to these here themes (The themes I'm talking about might be schools of magic, a few mechanics and maybe even a layer of lore into how it works). Here's the cost for using magic... (yadayadayada goes here, but a reccomended template is to use similar reasoning of limitations as why your character cannot effectively use an axe that is three times his or her body weight)". If anyone steps out of line, let them know about it and remind them that they are playing a role, not an ends-at-Chuck-Norris-my-attack-is-better-than-your-attack game.
Also be clear to yourself about how you, the GM, want magic to work in your RP.

The moral of these stories? Play God, and there is a 100% chance you will be mauled to death by leopard men.

Not sure if mocking my OP and the limits i put...
or just giving some nice advice....

I liked C&C3. I still play Kane's Wrath.
My name is Ozymandias, king of kings. Look upon my works, ye mighty, and despair.
What about them?

No one...?
But is anyone interested in a C&C RP?
I don't know, If you could make it more accessible to the public, instead of just fans for the game. i'll take a look at it.
