I was looking through Genoa, And it seems like they didn't really do anything, besides establish a couple of colonies and get gifted cities and trading agreements by the byzantine empire.

That's three mass invasions within the same bloody month! I mean, seriously! The UDTU is attacking now, Blue has a sleeper attack coming soon, and now an invasion by space pirates? What is this, Russia if every american-made FPS happened at once?! - MagicallyDwarven
I suppose with it put like that, I could play Hungary. While I would have liked to have access to the Ocean, I suppose Hungary would be better for interaction with others. Unless I could be trusted to play the HRE. In which case, I'd be up for playing it. :3
I probably could also be France, unless you have plans for England to completely conquer it. XD
Genoa or Sicily.
You have access to the ocean and your location means you'll be at constant interaction with others, whether it'd be for commercial reasons, warfare, or just "hey dud i'm passing by can i dock here a moment?". Genoa would have constant interaction with me, Venice. And let's face it, you're not that active. I dare say you're more inactive than I am (and that's a feat to be remembered by). You'll do better as a small nation. And if it's power that concerns you, take a look at Venice. It's not that big, yet it was the wealthiest country in Europe at the time, with a very formidable navy that pretty much owned the Adriatic Sea. You can do something similar with Genoa (as long as you accept Venice will always be better than you ).
Didn't the Byzantines side with the Muslims during the IRL 3rd Crusade?
By extension of the patriarch in Jerusalem, the Greek church mediated the drafting of the peace treaty after one of the crusades. I think it was the third.
By the IRL fourth the crusaders decided "to hell with this" and sacked Constantinople.
We don't have a Lithuania on this map. I've tried to keep things more centralized.
I suppose if you want something unique, you could rp a group of knights who strike out against the Orthodox heretics, and eventually the Cumans, along the north of the Black Sea.

More like "Venice talked the Crusade into attacking their rival".
Now I (and Hugs and Feo...) need to complete some applicationage
Having nit picked that little detail it looks great, thank you.

I have Constantinople and Antioch under my control, and Jerusalem may not be a problem. Alexandria and Rome (specifically Rome) will be a challenge.
