Hello, this is the interest check for a roleplay that involves the mediterranian sea and the mythologies, cultures, and legends of the countries that are part of the Mediterranean. Players will be able to explore the continent and fight for or against the legends of ancient cultures.
Large Tectonic activity in Europe and Africa have caused the Straight of Gibraltar to close causing the first Saline Crisis in human history, without flow from the Atlantic Ocean, the high salt content causes all of the Mediterranean Sea's water to evaporate creating a large desert of salt in its place. Though it has caused fishing and sea trade to plummet on the Mediterranean Coast, explorers and researchers alike are exploring the new landscape.
As more interest arises, more details will be announced!
Arguments happen, they just do, you can't stop it, no matter how much power you have, even if it takes years to settle, when it does, everyone is stronger for it. Rivalries can be made into friendships if you let them.
Some ideas are meant to be made into reality, but most need to be burned at the stake.

Sounds pretty interesting. I am looking for an RP like this, if I'm not too busy juggling the other RPs I am playing or monitoring. Do you think you could give me/us a sneak peek or synopsis of the backstory? Just so I/we know what the main story (or main problem) is. Or so.
Just a suggestion, some people may not exactly know what mediterranea is. Maybe give a brief history or so on what it is? Up to you.

Sounds really interesting. Ancient Mesopotamia (hope I spelled that right) and Phonecia (also hope I spelled that right) are actually quite interesting because of their culture and creations.
Not Mesopotamia exactly but it has had an impact on Turkey, which is part of the coast, so one of the various cultures that occupied the land will be there. Im thinking Sumerians or maybe Hittites

Maybe you could add another type of culture from Egypt of India. Then there could be wars. Also, I always forget this but are the Hittites from Asia Minor?
It covers all of the Mediterranean cultures, India is not one of them, Egypt is

Yes I know that India isn't in that area but the eastern area had a big impact on the Mediterranean culture.(Know this because of social studies. Thanks Mr. Findley!)
I'm not making it more complicated than it already is.

Oh ok. I just though it would be more interesting to include the legendary story of Buddha and the enlightenment and how China kept out invaders with the "mini-wall of China." Using more than one area in a role play is very important due to the small area in Mesopotamia, Egypt, ect.
Small area? Do you realize how extensive many of these countries have been throughout history? Especially Egypt, which was in mesopotamia at its peak.
Buddah's enlightenment? Thats not interesting, hindu, the father religion of buddism is much more interesting, but thats not going to be here, and you do realize this is about mythology and not about real events?
Anyway i feel this discussion has made this less interesting to others... Sigh... Well I added more info, this time a prelude!

The Crisis is in Modern Times, the actual continent of Mediterranea is "Different"
The rp is not going to be civ, however there are multiple factions you can support.

Heres a sneak peek of the op and application to the official thread, any suggestions or changes I should make before I post?
Welcome to Mediterranea, this is a fantasy roleplay based in the ancient cultures and mythologies of the Mediterranean Coast.
Rules:
No powerplay
No god modding
No metagaming
No unnecessary swearing
Multiple characters are allowed, up to about 3 characters at one time.
Sexual content is not allowed, keep innuendoes at a minimum remember there are children here.
Romance is allowed (I've never actually seen a romantic situation take place in a standard roleplay outside of one person's characters). Refer to above regarding context.
News report: "Large Tectonic activity in Europe and Africa have caused the Straight of Gibraltar to close causing the first Saline Crisis in human history, without flow from the Atlantic Ocean, the high salt content causes all of the Mediterranean Sea's water to evaporate creating a large desert of salt in its place. You are one of these explorers/researchers, and an event will soon take place that will change everything you know.
Application:
Name:
Age:(30+)
Appearance:
Profession/area of study:
Reason for being here:(why are you exploring the Mediterranean salt desert?)
Country of Origin:
Biography:
Other:(give as much detail as you can)
Note: the map will be added later as it might be confusing, remember that we start in the Mediterranean salt desert, not on "Mediterranea"
