So I have this weird problem. I haven't roleplayed in over a year, and I've been dying to get back into it. I roleplayed for 3 years, one of which was on Neopets (everyone had their start somewhere, don't judge), another of which was on a really fun medieval fantasy forum that since died out. I couldn't seem to stay long-term in other roleplays, and my schedule was getting busy so I decided to take a break from roleplaying.
Nowadays, I have a habit of comparing myself to other posts, and when I see basically a whole novel written down, beautifully detailed and all, I feel a bit overwhelmed. Back when I was roleplaying, I'd be able to dish out at most a paragraph or two. I never did one-liners. So I decide to look elsewhere. Problem is, it's happening a lot since there are tons of good roleplays out there, like Sacrilege. I also feel that if I join, I might not be able to post regularly. I usually get on in the afternoons (EST time zone), and I feel that if there are like 20 other posts I have to read through my character would never be able to catch up.
So...I guess I'm asking for advice on how to combat this. I really really REALLY want to start roleplaying again, but I can't seem to get out of this circle I drag myself into.
P.S - Oh, I also need a little help making a character. Personality and history would be the biggest obstacles for me.

On your problem with not being on enough: If you join a role-play with a limited number of people—like five maybe—you won't have the problem of having to read through a ton of other posts, because less people means less posts—usually. Now, I know there aren't many—or even any, as far as I can see—role-plays with a limit of five players. However, have you considered making your own role-play?
That's all I can think of right now for suggestions. If I think of anything else, I'll be sure to post here.
I haven't really though of making my own, maybe a few times, but not really. I'm not the type to govern over anything, so to me I'd think I'd make a terrible GM. I never made my own before anyway, so I also have no experience.
I've seen small roleplays that have like two or three characters go off on a posting spree before. They even were full of detail. That's what I'm also wary of, but seeing all these good GMs, I don't think it will happen here.

Still looking for some advise. On another note, I've been curious about one on ones. Do they require more detailed posts than a normal group roleplay? Anything thing relating to that would be nice as well.

Well, if you're thinking of joining Sacrelige, it's actually very lenient on new people, and folk like you who have gotten a bit rusty, don't be overwhelmed, and there arent too many people that have joined, yet...
also, with this, you don't have to write out the personality, just the bio...
and if you mess up, hug will (hopefully) nicely tell you what can be improved, and how it can be improved.
the best way to get started is to get started, lol.
Yeah. Sacrelige is actually really good for new and rusty players. When you send your app in, they will tell you; what you're doing wrong and how you can fix it. They'll keep doing this until you have an acceptable app. And you don't have to be embarrassed because they are nice and give good tips and advice.

Take your own advice here. At least try it once, and if you don't like it, never do it again. Or try to improve on it or whatever.
