"You idiots!" I had jumped along the rooftops to make my way over to my friends. "What the hell were you thinking, barging in here?" I hopped down from my perch and settled next to Bleu. I started pinching at the arrowhead he left in his leg. "You could have been overwhelmed. You're not some immortal, Bleu. You need to think about the risks!" I reached into my bag and pulled out my healing components, and applied them to the lizard's wounds. I looked up at Dracul. "And you, Dracul.. You were probably the one with the bright idea to come into the city like they would just let you. Just because you're a dragon doesn't mean you could take on an entire army, either! You're both lucky you had each other to juggle the guards, or else you'd be dead." After I had finished patching up Bleu's cuts, I decided I had to rip out the arrowhead. Taking a firm grip, I yanked the annoying little thing out of the flesh wound, and tossed it away. I poured a green liquid into the hole, and slathered some red on top of it. "You're both too reckless for your damn good. Now, let's get out of here, before more soldiers come." I pulled Bleu off the ground and headed off to the hole in the wall.
Dracul scoffed. "We had too. And I was perfectly fine on my own. No harm done, except for the multitude of casualties on their side. Fine, let's get going," Dracul said. He turned around, and poked his head into the main street. He pulled his head back in, arrows sticking in between scales all over his head. "There's a lot of them waiting for us out there. A lot," Dracul grumbled, wiping the arrows off of him.
Dracul shook his head. "You have no idea. They must have somehow gathered nearby militias from surrounding villages as well. Streets are packed. Catapults, ballista, rows of archers. They are out to kill me, Bleu. We have to think this a bit more carefully than usual. We can't just go on charging in. They have the technology and numbers on their side," Dracul responded.
"I've an idea. You two throw your best at them, then retreat. All the while I'm in the background hijacking the farthest back war machine, picking them off from behind them until they all fall. Good enough for a shot, right? Deal! You two may proceed with distracting them, now." He grinned, intent on having his plan go through. Climbing the side of the wall, he leaped onto a barrel and up onto the rooftops. He crouched low, waiting for them to start the distraction.
"I've got it." I pulled up my new crossbow, pulled back on the string, aimed, and fired. Literally. The modified bolt I had placed in the weapon flew into the middle of the crowd. After a second, a fireball unleashes across the street, engulfing the guards, cooking them in heat-conductive shells. The fire had mostly stopped, except for a couple corpses, the artillery pieces, and a nearby house. "Shall we?" I walked off, loading my crossbow with a regular bolt, just in case.
Dracul pulled both of them back, down into the alley as a rain of arrows poured down onto where they were a moment ago. "I told you it won't be that easy," Dracul growled.
Bleu took that as a sign he was ready, and charged across the rooftops, gone before Dracul could grab him. Throwing himself into a roll, he took the shingles atop the houses in single bounds. As he neared five passed, he tripped on the edge, rolling into a sticker bush, arrows falling around him Cursing, he hopped out right into two soldiers pissing on the side of a house, almost ready to rejoin their main forces. Bleu kicked one's back in, snapping his spine in half. The other peed on his friend's dead body, and Bleu laughed before chopping his neck with his hand, a sharp yelp escaping his mouth before he fell onto the other dead body. Climbing the buildings again, he resumed his stance, charging. He cleared the jumps in less then 10 seconds, almost thirty house, more arrows falling upon his past positions. A catapult launched, the last of it's group, sitting at the very end near the edge of town. Hopping onto a support, he jumped on top of two gunners, swiftly dispatching them both with his claws. Assuming control of the machine, he launched one of the flaming balls into the crowd of archers supporting two ballistas. It erupted on one of them, and it split into two, destroying both the other ballista and several of the archers. Bleu cheered at his sheer luck, climbing up the catapult and down again, tripping into a crowd of advancing infantry who quickly fell. A jab to the stomach as well as a kick to the kneecap brought down two, the last fleeing in terror. A catapult was left unmanned as the inhabitants threw arrows from their longbows at Bleu, who stabbed them both with the pike of a fallen soldier. A second of manning the catapult resulted in more then 1/3 of their forces destroyed by an exploding barrel of conveniently placed oil cracking over the road, forming a barrier of flames between their troops. A second rock fell into place in the catapult, and Bleu cocked back the gear, slowly. Flinging it again, it crashed into a group of archers. He left the rest up to his friends, quickly retreating into a house. It was a simple house, with a bed and a fireplace. A single shelf lay beside the bed, and Bleu quickly hid in case someone had followed him.
"Oof!" I got up from where Dracul had dropped me, and saw the mass of arrows that lay where I was standing. "Thanks, but we have to go out and help Bleu! We don't have time to sit here and think." I peered out from behind the building and saw simple chaos among the guards. "It's simple. We just have to mop up the rest of them, and we can get out of here!" I fired on an archer that had been aiming down on me, striking him in the leg. I took a moment to reload, and shot another guard down. "I'll take them down from here, you can go freeze survivors. Is that good enough a plan?"
Dracul frowned. "Are you stupid? Maybe you can't see them from down there, but when I peer over the buildings, the streets are PACKED with soldiers. PACKED. Not just the street right around the corner," Dracul growled. Another couple arrows came flying down, from high up in the sky. Dracul quickly opened his wings, covering the area where Matthew was standing. He grunted as the arrows thudded into the membrane of his wing. Satisfied that they wouldn't shoot anymore, Dracul shook his wing, dislodging the arrows, and splattering tiny drops of his blood onto the wall of the building right under his wing. The stone sizzled as soon as the blood made contact.
"Well then what the hell are we supposed to do!? We can't just sneak out, at least not with you!" I peeked out and saw that the mass of guards had multiplied. "Damnit.. Where are they even getting these people!? We might as well run, if not fight!" I started on another modified bolt, working as quickly as I could. "Well, if we're gonna run, might as well leave with a show." I poured some brightly colored powder into the mix and attached it to another bolt. (EDIT: Gotta go to bed, cya)
Bleu peeked out a hole in the door's frame just as a ballista's bolt exploded through the door, pulling it off it's hinges. Blown across the whole building by the force of it, Bleu lay under the rubble of destroyed stone and a door. Grabbing it off of his body, he got up as five men rushed in. One threw a spear immediately, and Bleu blocked it with his door shield. Thrusting it to them, throwing it as a projectile, two of the five now had a door pinning them to the wall. The last three all charged with their different weapons. One carried a massive morning star, flailing it around. Another held a broadsword, spinning it in a wondrous fashion. The last had a two handed battle-ax, and rushed at him, slashing. All three missed, Bleu jumping into the air. He easily could have gotten over all of their heads if the roof was tall enough, but he settled with kicking one in the face and stomping down on the rest of their weapons. They were all disarmed in seconds. They too fell, their faces no longer bearing a resemblance to their former ones.
Storming to the door, Bleu was left with half an army staring him down. The last thing he saw before impact was a flaming catapult bomb hitting the ground not a foot away, throwing him to the wall. The building around him was no longer a building. You could barely call it rubble. He got up, his vision flying. Bleu rose to twenty more men surrounding him. His FINAL final stand was upon him. One of his arms barely responded as he flew into action, sweeping a man off his legs before throwing him into another. Two more advanced upon Bleu's backside, and they shared a similar fate, both having no stomach. Gore spilled all over Bleu's feet as he continued slashing, crashing a wooden plank over a man's head, using that man's sword to kill his friends, kicking another guard square in the chest. Bleu fell as an Elephantine mercenary, a massive one, swiped his leg through Bleu's feet. Everyone else backed up to watch in fascination. Picking Bleu up, the Elephantine threw him. Bleu could not believe they had an Elephantine working for them, as they usually roamed in groups, solitary. Picking himself up, he threw a dead man's mace at the Elephantine, the spiked front luckily sticking into his chest. Ripping it out, the creature roared in pain. "You are not wise, lizard-kin... prepare to fall." Charging at Bleu, he sidestepped as the big beast slammed into the wall, falling. Ripping into the immense monstrosity's back with his talons, Bleu slashed all the way to his spine. The white of his bones stuck out, but he still did not fall, defeated. Swinging back with his heavy hands, they crashed into Bleu's arm, spinning him in a 780 before he tripped. "You'll never best me, I've waited to kill one of your kind. Your skull will be a great prize." He was up in a split second, charging. They both ran furiously, and Bleu went into yet another slowdown mode. Slidetackling into the Elephantine's legs, the lumbering brute rolled through the air, cricking his neck against the wall. A final stab to his back, and the other troops rushed in to net Bleu. This time, he was captured for good. A five man garrison was stationed on him.
(Hey, stopping by to tell you that my computer has been taken away, and I will not officially get it back for a week or so. I'll try to sneak on as often as I can, but there's no telling when. :C)
