Tressel had taken what little she had to be prepared, and standing in front of the man now as he talked to them about numbers and unity, she felt a bit more relaxed in her decision.
When he asked about questions, though, she raised herself up a little to lift her hand and get his attention. "I do have a few, but one of them stands out. What are we going to do once we've made our pacts? Surely, we can't just return to normal after something like that."

Sontar answered this question. "I'm afraid that's a bridge we'll cross once we get there. I do not know if you can end a Pact between you and an Entity. If we can, then we can simply defeat the beast and be done with it. If not, then..." Sontar trailed off. "Then we'll think of something. And your question does bring up a good point- This may be an irreversible decision. Know that before we leave tomorrow."
Sontar stood back and observed the crowd- they all seemed apprehensive to some degree. That was understandable. All he could hope for was that they would be calmed at the end of this, enough to decide to join him and Ki'than.

"Why tomorrow? Why not now? We've been waiting long enough," the old Ztaari spoke up in a huff of indignation. 100 years, but I can't wait a couple minutes more. That's what happens, isn't it.
Qrin had not been listening too effectively, but he had heard enough to know that there were probably more preferable leaders elsewhere in their group. These two seemed a tad pompous and presumptuous - too successful, too skilled, or too smart for their own good. We'll see how the deck is shuffled, I suppose, he thought, unsure of whence the metaphor had emerged.
This time, Ki'than responded. "I am giving us this evening to gather supplies, and to rest. Like we have said, the journey will be long and difficult. We want you to be sure you're fully ready." Ki'than was truly impressed by how well the ztaari fought for his age, but his patience for him was thin. "Would you run recklessly at every opportunity that presented itself? No. If you go unprepared, you..." His voice trailed off a moment, thinking back to the incident when he was younger. "You may as well have a death wish."

"If we're meant to die, then die we will. What we bring to our graves can hardly matter to Fate," Qrin reminded the younger Ztaari. The fabric of the universe had made space for him this long, and it would leave him be until the cloth was unravelled - whenever that could occur. If this is my path - my thread - then it will take me where I am to go. If it is not, then still it will take me where I need to go.
Meanwhile, a different part of his brain, upon waking from a lengthy slumber, laughed. The harsh sound echoed against small chambers of emptiness in the skull. Death wish! He tries to mock me - but what does he understand? Death wish - ha!
The meeting place was not very difficult to find, it was exactly where they had been told it was. When Iris and Clay arrived, they found the Ztaari there along with two others. Iris managed to recognise one of them as the Ztaari she had spoken to at the tournament. She took a moment before she remembered his name, Qrin. She then found out that the group was not going to be just the five of them. Several more people arrived, bringing the size of the group up to ten. Iris vaguely recognised a couple of them, perhaps they had been in the tournament and she had seen them there.
Now that it appeared that everyone had arrived, the masterminds behind the quest, Ki'than and Sontar, began to describe their plans. They would need to search until they had found enough Entities for each of them to make a pact. Iris was feeling a little uncertain about the plan, but once the stone beast was mentioned she became more adamant in her decision. This was their chance to end the destruction, they couldn't give up before the quest even began. Her resolve would not be weakened.
Meanwhile Clay stood there silently. His face gave nothing away, so it was difficult to tell what he was thinking. Iris did wonder if he shared her resolve or if he had his doubts. He did wish for the stone beast to be stopped, and deep inside he knew that this quest could be one of their best chances to accomplish that. Clay gave a small nod as Ki'than spoke, this gave away that he would not give up on the plan.
The description of the plan drew to a close. Then it was time for questions. As the others said what was on their minds, a question began to form in Iris's head.
"I have a question: what if someone finds out that we are searching for an Entity?" she asked.
Ki'than immediately turned his attention to the t'kal. He was glad for a distraction from the slightly frustrating Ztaari. "I don't think we should kill them then and there, if that's what you're thinking of. I believe we should simply defend ourselves. If they attack us, we fight back- but only to disarm and disable. I do not condone taking life unnecessarily." After he finished talking, he scanned his eyes over the eight before him once again. However, he did avoid the eyes of the other ztaari.

Puella Magi Madoka Magicka is an awesome, feel-good, cutesy anime. You should watch it!
"You just had to stop and get a drink first." Lilian complained.
"Meeting new people is tough when completely sober!" Vaati stated.
"Whatever, they probably started planning already... You can back out right now if you-" Lilian said but was cut off.
"No! It would be rude to abandon you with them alone no?" Vaati insisted.
"What of your family? Your chances of dying are higher than the dragons of the north." Lilian worried.
"I'll be fine, I am as strong as alpha ram!" Vaati exclaimed
"Do rams have an alpha-?" Lilian questioned but was cut off again.
"Is that them?" Vaati asked.
Vaati pointed at an odd group gathered by the edge of the village, it was the man, some snake-lady, a few others, even an elf and... Him, the creature she fought at the coliseum. Something in her mind told her they were on bad terms, no... Not just in her mind, her whole body quivered as she saw the creature.
Vaati then gave Lilian a slight nudge, she seemed out of it, like she wasn't herself when she saw the ztaari, gosh this could cost her first impressions.
Vaati on the other hand was as loud as he could be, the burly man greeted the group, practically interrupting them at what they were talking about, gosh darn this man is loud.
"Hello friends! My friend here has said that I may tackle along in this adventure of yours. Right Lilith?" Vaati asked.
"Urr..." Lilian went on.
"Are you alright?" Vaati asked.
"B-Basilisks eyes!" Lilian exclaimed.
"Apologies, she doesn't seem herself right now, I wish I knew why." Vaati stated.
Vaati laughed but Lilian was as stiff as a rock, she wasn't like this before, but she felt like the ztaari would jump at her any moment, she really wished she hadn't had this feeling.
Ki'than and Sontar waited a few moments longer for questions, but it seemed that there were none. Sontar stepped forward and spoke. "Thank you all for choosing to join us. We depart tomorrow at dawn southward, to the nearby forest. Buy supplies, or whatever you think necessary for this trip, and sleep well. Good luck. To all of us. We're going to need it." With that, the duo made their way back into the village.
"We should find a place to sleep." Ki'than said.
"The inn is full. We'll need to find some comfortable grass." Sontar responded.
Ki'than groaned. "After three days, i was looking forward to a real bed. Oh well, I guess. Let's sleep in shifts to make sure nobody robs us."
"Care to spar before we turn in?"
"Not tonight. I need to think more of how we're going to go about our journey."
"Alright. You're taking the first watch, then?" Sontar asked.
Ki'than nodded. "I'll wake you at midnight."
Sontar nodded back. They traveled a short distance out of the village, gathering some stones and sticks before sitting down and starting a fire. As the elf slept, Ki'than's mind wandered, unsure of what will come.

"The adventure starts tomorrow, we should get some sleep" Clay said.
Iris and Clay wandered away from the place where they had met the others. The meeting had ended a few moments ago. Both Iris and Clay were feeling a little nervous about the upcoming mission. It was quite a dangerous task they were undertaking, dangerous but important. And for that mission they would need a good night's sleep. However the inn was full, so they would have to sleep out under the stars that night.
After a little while, the two found a good spot to camp just outside the village. It was a place next to an old tree which had clearly been standing there for many years. They ate some of their rations that were left over from the journey here. They discussed who would keep watch first, and it was decided through a coin toss that Clay would keep watch first. He grumbled about that but resigned to his job.
"It's times like this that I miss the caravans" Iris said as she stared up at the stars, "They made travelling much nicer. They may have not been as comfortable as an inn, but they were better than the cold, hard ground"
"We should catch up with them after the mission" Clay replied.
There was a moment of silence as Iris wondered about what life would be like after the mission. Would they be able to go back to their lives as merchants after contacting an Entity? Maybe, but maybe not. This thought continued to float around inside her head until Clay spoke.
"Try to get some sleep, neither of us will be very helpful to the mission if we can't stay awake."
Iris nodded, then closed her eyes and welcomed the comforting darkness of sleep. Tomorrow they could collect some supplies, properly introduce themselves to the others and begin their quest. But for now, the only thing they needed was rest.
As Lilian and Vaati left the initial meeting point, Lilian couldn't help but think about making pacts. Especially for her partner who has a family. As Vaati lead the way to a nice warm house where he lived in, it was a sizable house to begin with, well with the stories Vaati told her about the place it was expected. Vaati lead her to the front door, gave the door a two knocks and opened the door.
"This is my home! My children should be asleep, tis' why you shouldn't be bothered by them." Vaati stated.
"Appreciated." Lilian Replied
From door frame there peaked a head, just behind Vaati, a very lovely woman, beautiful in the eyes of the half elf. Long, wavy brown hair, hazelnut brown eyes and a face covered in freckles. The woman was wearing a navy blue nightgown and her height, she wasn't nearly as tall as Lilian but she was much much taller, Lilian had this odd feeling in her chest, whatever it could be, she didn't know. She had never felt this feeling before. What was it?
"Ah Cara! You're still awake I see, this is-" Vaati spoke but was cut off.
"-Lilith, you've told me a lot awhile ago." Cara added.
Cara... That was her name, too bad she was married, and to a friend at that.
"Well then, welcome to LeAimer household, please make yourself at home." Cara stated.
So LeAimer is their surname, nice to know.
"Y-Yes of course." Lilian replied.
"Come, I'll show you where you may stay the night, I'll wake you when it's time yes?" Vaati asked.
"Right, thank you." Lilian replied once again.
Vaati then gestured for her to follow, leading her down the hall, but through her distraction of constantly looking at her friend's wife. Thud! She slammed right into a bookshelf. Vaati turned to see her crouched on the floor with her hands on her face. Vaati shook his head and knelt down in front of her.
"You've been acting strange, is there any reason to that?" Vaati asked.
"I'm just took in by everything." Lilian replied, with her voice sounding like she wasn't breathing properly since she slammed on the bookshelf.
Vaati chuckled and spoke. "Come on, the room you can stay in is down the hall."
"Alright, I'll follow in a moment." Lilian replied.
After a few seconds, Lilian followed him into the room where she would be staying. It was massive, honestly it was, it was a large room with a queen sized bed. Lilian obviously didn't fit in with the large furniture, but it was a place for her to stay anyway.
"I'll let you settle in, I'll wake you at dusk yes?" Vaati stated.
"Uhh... Yes, I suppose." Lilian replied.
Vaati nodded in response and left Lilian to herself, closing the door behind him. Lilian unsheathed her spear and set it by the side of the bed. She couldn't get herself to touch any of the large furniture. It was an odd feeling, but at least her heart wasn't pounding anymore.
The two of them woke before dawn. They went to the southern end of the town, avoiding as many people as possible. Ki'than and Sontar stood at the furthest edge of the village, waiting for their companions to show before they departed. "Dawn is at most an hour away." Sontar said. "We shouldn't have to wait too long."
~
Cough cough, cough cough cough. Blood spilled onto his hand. He sighed and wiped his hands on a nearby towel, before taking a drink of water. The door opened, and a familiar face appeared. "Sis!" He said, arms outstretched. She approached him in his bed, hugging him. She was easily twice his height. He felt her long, flowing hair and started to braid it.
"Heh, not now, Korag." She said, taking his hand off of her head. "Have you been eating and drinking everything I brought you?"
"Almost. There's too much water, I think." He replied, a little quieter than before.
She stared at him a moment. "You need to drink it all. It's for your own good."
"I know! But..." He was clearly embarrassed. "I just don't think I can hold it all in me. Feels like i'm gonna explode, sometimes."
She held his head in her arms. "I promise, that will never happen."
He hugged her again. "So how did it go?"
"L'pei did what he promised. But it's not enough yet. I have to do a few more things for him, and then everything will be normal again."
Korag smiled brightly, before coughing into his hands again. More blood came up.
She quickly grabbed his arm and looked at it. "When did this start?" She said, sounding panicked.
"Just this morning, why?" He was clearly scared.
She placed her hands on his chest. A small spark flashed, and she smiled. "Just... I didn't expect this to happen. You'll be fine. Everything will be fine, I promise."
"Don't worry, sis. I'm strong, and I promise i'll keep going, as long as it takes for you to grow strong enough." He held his hand in front of him, in a fist.
She laughed, holding his fist. "I know you'll hold on. I promise to be as fast as I can."
"Can you sing to me again?" He looked up at her. "You have a great voice, even if I don't understand the words."
She laughed again and nodded. It was almost a whisper as she sang.
"Solti, ola ii,
"Amaliche cantia masa estia...
"E sonti, tolda ii,
"Emalita cantia mi-ya mista...
"Ah, Lii, Tii, A-Dista,
"Somelite esta di-ya,
"Ah, Dii, Tou, I-Della,
"Filoche mi-yo......
"San, Ti, Tou, La..."
She breathed as she finished her lullaby. Korag was asleep again, for now. She kissed him on the head, before leaving. She turned back to him before exiting. "I promise..."
