The island of Asmodens is home to many species, and is ruled by the Kingdom of Asmod, the Dominion of Nakirama and the Sultanate of Hekau. Long has the Island thrived, long has it enjoyed peace. But now, disaster has struck; The Island is slowly sinking. It didn't take long for the Nations to blame each other, and though war has not broken out, the era of peace is over. Many have tried to find a way to prevent the island from sinking, all have failed so far, and many citizens have drowned. The sinking has caused the once great island to break into an archipelago, and if nothing stops it from sinking further, everyone will drown.
-----
Howdy!
So, an interest check. This RP will have the Player Characters, who are pretty average people, embark on an adventure to safe the Island (and themselves) from drowning beneath the waves. There will be Fighting, Travelling, Exploring, and other things!
So, if you're interested, or have any questions, please tell me!
I have a map of the Island(s) ready, but I won't post it yet (unless people really want me to, of course).

I'm turning this thread into the OOC thread, apply here.
Rules:
1. No powerplaying, godmodding, metagaming, etc.
2. Romance is allowed, but take 'lovemaking' to PM or something.
3. If your application is rejected too often, you'll be banned from applying, and your applications will be ignored. Same goes for breaking the rules; if you do it to often, your character will die, your posts will be ignored, and you won't be allowed to apply again.
4. To ensure that you've read the rules, put 'Pancake' in other.
5. Be original when making a character, don't make a boring character with little-to-no backstory
6. The GM (me) is always right when it comes to enemies, NPCs, the place the characters are in, etc.
Important info about the world in which the game takes place:
Playable Races (There are also non-playable races):
Humans, Dwarves, Elves & Orcs are the basic races. You can choose to be another race, but I have the right to reject the race because it either doesn't fit, is too OP, or is a terribly-written race that you thought of yourself (well-written races that you thought of yourself are okay, but the other rules listed before still apply.)
Gods & Magic:
Magic is present in this world, but most of it comes from the Gods. Mage-Priests are able to call upon the powers of the God they worship to use their magic abilities, but the stronger magics require bigger sacrifices. Everyone is able to use simple magic by making offerings to their God, but don't expect to be able to burn down cities by offering a rabbit.
Conventional Magic can also be learned, but it is very, very rare, since most, if not all magic books (Grimoires) are hidden away in ancient ruins and such. Finding one will allow the person that possesses it to use the magic in the book.
List of Gods: (This is not a complete list of all magics granted by the gods, only a basic one)
Gamiah - Goddess of Life - Grants magic related to healing.
Primur - God of Death - Grants magic related to Necromancy.
Aveter - God of Wind - Grants wind-related magic and flight if the given sacrifice/offering is great enough.
Crocer - God of Fire - Grants fire-related magic, fire resistance and increased body temperature.
Huetzaph - Goddess of Water - Grants water-related magic and the ability to breathe underwater if the given sacrifice/offering is great enough.
Osirina - Goddess of Earth - Grants earth-related magic.
Carma - God of Revenge
Skandelisa - Goddess of Hate
Yetet - Goddess of the Harvest - Grants magic that boosts a harvest
Perubis - God of Darkness & Night - Grants Nightvision, Darkness-related magics and increased physical & magical strength at night.
Salki - Goddess of Light & Day - Grants Holy magics and increased physical & magical strength during daytime.
Bhaka - Goddess of Knowledge - Her worshippers are smarter than others.
Cicollo - God of Weather - Grants weather-controlling magics
Apedet - God of Winter
Lucius - God of Summer
Prina - Goddess of Autumn
Ardea - Goddess of Spring
Arenex - God of Strength - Grants strength increasing magics.
Nunda - Goddess of Movement - Grants speed/agility increasing magics.
Jinna - Goddess of the Arcane - Grants arcane/magic strength increasing magics.

The island of Asmodens is not very technologically advanced, gunpowder has yet to be invented. The main form of transportation is horse & carriage for long distance, but not everyone can afford it. Trade Caravans are often pulled by horses that are bread especially for pulling heavy cargoes, they're strong but slow.
The kingdom of Asmod lies in the south, and resembles Western European architecture and style of clothing, amongst other things. Most villages there have a Church in the centre.
The Sultanate of Hekau lies in the North, and controls a desert peninsula, the Jupith Peninsula. Their style of clothing, traditions and architecture is similar to the Middle East
The Sultanate has bad relations with the City-State of Encus since they both deem the Jungle to be part of their Nation, even though the ground is barely usable due to the creatures that reside in it.
The Dominion of Nakirama controls the Central Islands of Asmodens, with their capital hidden in the Cerna Forest. Most inhabitants are elves but their architecture and traditions resemble that of the Far-East, especially that of Japan.
There are smaller Nations and City-States as well, the most influential one is the City-State of Encus, which lies
hidden behind the Fagupta Jungle. The Orcs that reside here live similarly to the Aztecs.
The City-State has bad relations with the Sultanate of Hekausince they both deem the Jungle to be part of their Nation, even though the ground is barely usable due to the creatures that reside in it.
The Massive Cave networks deep underground are controlled by numerous Dwarven Clans, they resemble the Eastern Europeans. They are also the richest due to their easy access to the valuable resources underground, which they basically have total control over.

I will like to join this. I will be joining as the Mare.
Sorry, but if you wish to join, you can't join as that character, because:
- This RP is unrelated to the City
- This RP is not a casual RP like the City
- That character is too OP
- Her species doesn't exist in this world
I think you forgot to put in the information about the world. What's the state of the technology? What do people generally wear?
By the way; what would be the point of rules 4 and 7 if people just ignored the rules altogether?
Right, I'll fix the lack of information in a bit. The purpose of rule #4 & #7 are to ensure that people actually read the rules and not just check the last rule to see what they should put in 'Other' xD
An interesting concept this one has, and a good one too. Looks like fun, and I'm in.
Name: Real name unknown, goes by Sin.
Age: 24
Gender: Male.
Species: Elf.
Job: Bounty Hunter.
God your character worships (optional, check list): Perubis.
Skills: Excellent swordsmanship. Ambidextrous with left hand more dominant. His fighting style is well-known for being self-taught, without much form with a huge focus on all-out brawling, and also being noted for his left-handed reverse grip. However, throughout several years, Sin has refined his fighting style into a more personal form that also involves solid control over his brute and crude type of attack.
Appearance:
Backstory: Sin was born at a dark and eerie village, in the center of a dark forest, with not much of a warm and kind environment to grow up on. He lived on a secluded village, mostly isolated from the outside world. News never come or go from the village, food comes from who-knows-where or what, and supplies kept flooding in. For the kids, leaving the village is forbidden. Sin was always curious about the outside world. When little, he would always be tasked with picking berries, whatever kind of berries, for food. Although it was a simple task to do, he would more than likely screw up. The other kids would bully him for his berries. He never stood up, because he just thought that fighting was wrong.
However, when he grew up, it was unexpected for most people. Sin was formerly just a skinny, pale looking boy. But when he reached 14, he was by far stronger than the average strength a normal elf would have. He could do twice of what other elves can do. But Sin was still lacking something, something that only experience and mentor would give, knowledge. Sin was looking for a teacher that have some experience with the outside world, and knowledge about fighting. After several days of searching for a mentor, he found a great one that does have a good experience with the world outside. But his mentor is conservative about violence, and he doesn't want to train Sin about fighting. He decided to take the hard way to experience, and battled a fierce and ferocious beast. He never defeated the beast, and when he came back to his village, he became a laughing stock for weeks. After several agonizing weeks, strange things keeps happening around the village. People keeps hearing footsteps and spotting a few foot marks that obviously isn't any of the village's inhabitant's. After several more weeks, the village was suddenly ambushed by several strong and remarkably tremendous powers. Viewing his first big battle, Sin decided to help the defenders. He landed a few punch, but he was knocked unconscious by a blow to the head.
He woke up at the village, the huts turned into a burning rubble and ashes. A few dozens of dead bodies scattered around the ground. He lost all his memories, all but his age. He took several equipment with him, a few sack of gold, and rushed through the thick dark forest, reaching the beautiful plains of the world. The blue sky above, the green grasses across the eye can see, and the relaxing breeze of wind passing through. He trained himself to become a better fighter, and became a bounty hunter. Across his journey, he met several people, with all age and race. On one of his tasks, he met across a human girl named Celcus. They became friends afterwards, and she followed and helped Sin across all his missions. The recent crisis has led to no tasks nor bounty posters to post up on the bulletin board. Sin and Celcus began their journey to find a way to stop the disaster that's about to doom all of the island's inhabitants...
Other: Is it okay for me to have a little companion without making an app? I'll make one if I have to. Also, I put Celcus' appearance in the spoilers below. P.S: I dunno if I have to say Pancake, or no. I'll go with yes this time.

Another spoiler:
Accepted, and your companion is allowed, but making an app is best (even if it's just a small one with very little backstory). You can of course make a full app for your companion and have multiple characters if you want to.

Name: Henry Arvell
Age: 41
Gender: Male
Species (Check list): Human
Nationality (Optional, only if it's one of the Majors listed above): Born and raised in the Kingdom of Asmod. Not exactly loyal.
Job: Blacksmith
God your character worships (optional, check list): None
Skills: He's a blacksmith, and quite proficient at it, which leads him to create strange and unusual weapons. Such as a bow fixed across a wooden support and a mechanism for drawing and releasing the string, which he dubs a 'crossbow'. His swordsmanship has declined over time due to his age, but he can still fight unconventionally, opting to use his wits and his unusual weapons. He has not brought any weapons with him besides his trusty 'crossbow', but he'll be able to be useful in battle as soon as he finds a workshop.
Appearance: Has blond hair, blue eyes and some facial stubble. Wears a blue tunic with a white shirt and trousers.
Backstory:
Henry had a simple upbringing in a humble village. He found his calling in life when he turned 20, opting to be a blacksmith as his job. He found it very exciting at first, having his own workshop just to create what he had envisioned in his mind as a young boy. Despite there being multiple blacksmiths inside the (now massive) village, he decided to set up shop in the middle of the village anyway. Around the time he turned 30, there were rumors surfacing of the entire island sinking... which he dismissed as baloney. Throughout the years after he officially became a blacksmith, Henry slowly felt dull, as he created multiple weapons but never released them to the public, and he was starting to get tired of creating generic swords everyday, as he only worked to support his hobby. But the other blacksmiths finally found a reason to retire him: age.
When they approached Henry, now 41, he refused to give up his profession. Perhaps he didn't want to lose his dull life as a blacksmith. The other blacksmiths were not happy about his workshop being dead centre of the village, and also not amused by his personal weapons ("A dagger that breaks swords? Old man, you're ridiculous!"). Henry's refusal lead to him waking up in the middle of the night with his workshop in flames. Henry was blank as he pulled out his loaded 'crossbow' and shot one of the arsonists in the back. Henry did not realize the repercussions of this until after he ran for the hills with only his crossbow. He was now possibly a wanted man, and he doesn't even have the energy to run that far. He would have to clear his name by investigating the island's sinking problem. But where to start...?

Name: The Great and Powerful Trixie (If you have issues with the name I will change it)
Age: 20?
Skills: Basic Magic. Also has connections to Nature and can do illusions of sorts. She is able to cloak, but can do it once every 8 hours.
Gender: Female
Species (Check list): Human
Job: Magician
Appearance: Something like this, without the stars though.
Backstory: She had a regular life, She grew up in the Dominion of Nakirama and hasn't really seen anything beyond it. But she knows the island is slowly sinking and wants to find out why. She is dedicating her life to find out why. Her main friends have left her to die when she was a kid, she was abandoned by her parents and never saw them again, she lived alone. She doesn't really care about others because of this, she fears it will happen again. She learned magic on her own and spent a great deal of time alone in the woods, and has a connection to nature of sorts because she spent a great deal of time in nature.
Personality: Reclusive, Secretive, Egotistical (Somewhat) Also likes to explore
Other: Lives Dominion of Nakirama, but away from the civilization mostly.
Can you show the map please?
Rejected, because:
- The only magic that is easily available comes from the gods, and Grimoires aren't available to the public, and teaching yourself magic from scratch is impossible
- When someone is reclusive, they're not likely to go out exploring.
- You didn't read the rules properly
The map is undergoing a redesign right now, but I can show an older image. The main locations (the ones with names) will remain mostly the same, but the rest is subject to change
Nationality (Optional, only if it's one of the Majors listed above): Asmod
Job: Scribe
God your character worships (optional, check list): Apedet
Skills: Can understand a variety of languages, knows how to use them when granted powers of ice. Is constantly on the lookout for danger, even when in safe locations.
Appearance: Tall with black hair and blue eyes. Icy blue tunic, Icy blue trousers. As icy-blue-as-he-could-find boots.
Backstory: He grew up reading the many books that his scribe parents would document and keep in good condition, learning all about other places of the world and it's climates. Especially interested in the snow and ice of the other lands he later devoted much of his time to practicing Apedet's powers with sacrifices in between his work as a scribe like his parents. But now that the island is sinking, he has a different theory to why that is happening. All the ice of the other lands is melting, causing the ocean to rise with the new water and making it only LOOK like it's sinking. With the many stories he read when he was younger, he set out to try and find one to see if it was real. Something that could put all the melted ice back in it's place.
Other: He knows how to cook pancakes without using any eggs. (Also, nice Battle for Wesnoth map)

- Change the name, it makes no sense.
- Illusions count as magic, and are thus not allowed.
- Cloak is magic and way too OP, even with the 8-hour cooldown.
- Explain what 'Has connections to Nature' means and what it does.
Until you do these, your character is still rejected.
Skills: Adept listening and spotting skills. He can appraise the value and quality of weapons and armaments. In terms of crafting, he has basic blacksmith and stonemason skills, which probably means he could craft metal and stone objects of a low quality. His weapon of choice is the warpick, it doesn't require much finesse to use.
Appearance: The most distinctive part of his outfit is his black Ushanka (sort of a woolen turban) that rests on his head. He wears a red battlerobe with a light armor (studded bore hide) chestplate underneath. He had knee-high back leather boots which show signs of a few years of wear and tear. He has a mount that is a Brown Bear, for obvious reasons he doesn't take it into settlements. It is saddled for his diminutive size and carries his accouterments.
Backstory: Bogdan was born in the deep mines, rich in metals and where those who dwelt were at the mercy of Crocer. The Hetmanate clan were hot with ambition, they believed in no risk, no reward. They domesticated fire dragons to sniff out electrum and amalgam, which they earnt so much of, they traded with the dwarfs higher up the strata and even with the surface.
This however brought its own risks, that of banditry and a much higher threat of invasion of a poor nation. They needed agents on the surface, they needed warning. Bogdan, despite being a dwarf, had no real affinity for metals, his mentor described his endless disappointment in "he has no fire in his blood". There was no way with that kind of backing he would get any jobs with his family or clan. He had the option to become a surface dweller for the good of the clan and he used that to boost his own reputation. It wouldn't happen over night, but it was something he felt he needed to do.
His first few years on the surface was fairly bland, he was blinded for about a week trying to adjust to the sunlight, he tamed a brown bear who he named Fyodor. His job was fairly slow, the surface nations were fairly engaged with themselves to care about what the dwarves were upto. So he spent most of time hunting and working on his burrow. He'd sell some metal trinkets if he needed some extra currency.
It was was in a tavern when he first heard the rumours that the whole land was sinking, or was it the sea's rising? The dwarfs now have two threats to face, refugees heading into the underground world and the seas flooding the mines. Bogdan, their man on the surface, has to watch the chaos unfold, meanwhile, the dwarfs plan to build a giant hatch, to seal themselves underground forever.

I don't have time to make it right now, I'm using my phone and it's 22:37 here. I'll make it tomorrow.
Sorry, but if you wish to join, you can't join as that character, because:
- This RP is unrelated to the City
- This RP is not a casual RP like the City
- That character is too OP
- Her species doesn't exist in this world
The OOC thread will be up soon
Alright, I've decided to repurpose this thread to become the OOC thread.
Right, I added some more information and changed the rules a bit since it might've been a bit too confusing xD
"One sword keeps another in the sheath"
Other: Pancake
Accepted
Rejected, because:
- The only magic that is easily available comes from the gods, and Grimoires aren't available to the public, and teaching yourself magic from scratch is impossible
- When someone is reclusive, they're not likely to go out exploring.
- You didn't read the rules properly
The map is undergoing a redesign right now, but I can show an older image. The main locations (the ones with names) will remain mostly the same, but the rest is subject to change
Name: Trey Denor
Age: 28
Gender: Male
Species (Check list): Human
Current Avatar: Matt the Pirate Knight (Bullet Heaven 2)
Meet Ashen the shoulder dragon!
Accepted, also thanks
Improved Map:
This will probably be the definitive version. Not listed on the map are small villages (the houses represent cities), rivers, minor roads, etc.
Will the IC thread be up soon?
- Change the name, it makes no sense.
- Illusions count as magic, and are thus not allowed.
- Cloak is magic and way too OP, even with the 8-hour cooldown.
- Explain what 'Has connections to Nature' means and what it does.
Until you do these, your character is still rejected.
Either later today or tomorrow, I'm at school right now so I don't really have the time and such to make it right now.
Approved, great backstory!
