Hello! If I can remember correctly, this is the first time that I've ever made an interest check, but considering the level of work which this roleplay would require of me, I decided that now seemed like a good time to change my habits. That said, let's jump into the idea itself!
This idea originated on a whim when a request was made for random roleplay ideas. I submitted a rough draft (Included below), and didn't intend to give it much more thought until the roleplay came to fruition. It never did, but the idea was germinating in the back of my mind, and after checking in on the original request, I decided that it doesn't appear that it will ever be made by the requester, at least, not on these forums. This inspired me to create it myself, as it is a very exciting idea, in my mind.
The premise of this roleplay would be that your character has been living a normal, routine life for years. Perhaps they are a rich businessman, a struggling artist, a talented athlete, a reclusive professor or a scandalized politician. Whatever their situation, it is suddenly usurped when they hear about the discovery of a clue pointing towards the location or the existence of a little-known archaeological object from humanity's ancient history, touted to possess unfathomable beauty, power, or value. Whether they choose to seek this object for power, money, fame, amusement, or whatever other reason you can surmise, they become one of a large number of people across the globe who are now partaking in the hunt for this item.
This roleplay would require several things:
Devotion. We would need a group of devoted and talented writers who could become the core group for the roleplay. Of course, because of its nature, we could always have more members join down the road, either by receiving the latest clues from a current adventurer, or by working to catch up from the first clue.
A willingness to allow the plot to win. In order for stakes to remain high, there would be many obstacles on the path to finding the object. Death would be encouraged if a situation became difficult enough to warrant it. Clues would be very ambiguous, and it would be up to each reader to interpret them and find the means to send their character to their destination.
An extreme effort to prevent omniscience. Once a clue or destination is revealed, it would be difficult not to have every character immediately changing course and rushing for the furthest point in the quest, even if there was no way they could know about its existence or its definitive correctness.
An interest in telling compelling stories, not just running through the quest. We're here to have fun. If characters are just going to jump systematically through the path to victory, how is that amusing? In envisioning this roleplay, I imagine that there will be relationships between the different characters: Rivalry, romance, rapport, revenge. I'd love to see analysis of a character's psyche: How has this quest affected them? Is the potential reward worth the ordeals they've suffered? Why are they really doing this? How does the quest change them?
So, if you're interested, comment below. Feel free to vote in the polls above. On the right side of your screen, you can probably scroll down. Use the blandness on the right to brainstorm your character. Thank you for taking the time to read all of this!
One final thing; the original conceptual post which I made. It's a rough draft, and the item would almost certainly not be the "Crown of Caesar" as it is purported below. That was simply an example.
The Crown of Caesar
"The Crown of Caesar is a sacred, mythological item, supposedly used by the greatest Roman of all time, Julius Caesar, in pursuit of control of the Roman Empire. Recently, a clue has surfaced which may point towards the actual existence of this object. For more on this story, we have reached our correspondent, Lukas Schmidt..." The news anchor droned on and on, but it didn't matter to you. You were already on your feet, gathering supplies to join the greatest hunt of all time. Why were you in it? Power? Fame? Money? The thrill of the hunt? What did it matter. The point was that you were grabbing the first flight to wherever you thought this clue was pointing you.
Hello everyone! Welcome to a roleplay which is truly all about competition. I invite you to join the hunt for the most sacred of all items, though I'll warn you that only one person can wear the Crown of Caesar, so you'll have to be crafty, careful, and cunning. Think you can conquer the competition? Then make your character, and let's begin!
This roleplay takes place in the modern world. While most people are enjoying their lives as usual, your character will be travelling the globe in pursuit of further clues to the whereabouts of this most sacred item. Along the way, you will be presented with obstacles. This includes natural defenses, traps set to stop those who hunt for the crown, moral dilemmas, and most importantly, other crown-hunters. Will you work in teams, or will you make sure that you're the last hunter standing? It's up to you, but the clues you receive are up to me. Be prepared to encounter some things which are truly extraordinary, and make sure that you are expecting the unexpected.
Here are the rules you should be aware of. They are subject to change if necessary.
You may have 1 character. If your character is killed (It may very well be) or if it decides to drop out of the race, then you may make a new character to carry on the hunt.
Your character is a normal human. No magical powers. No secret connection to dragons. However, you can give them whatever occupation and whatever resources you desire, as long as it is explained realistically.
As has already been mentioned, your character may die. You can kill them off of your own accord, but if they are placed in an extremely dire situation, they may also be killed by me on account of keeping the roleplay realistic.
Keep everything appropriate for this forum.
Your character is NOT omniscient. They can not know about clues they have not been told about in-character.
Thank you for the advice! When saying "Pre-scripted", I had implied that I would be giving out clues based on a pre-decided plan. They would be given out whenever a member reached a certain location that had already been decided upon.
As for the comparison to Indiana Jones/Lara Croft, that could definitely be a part of how some people chose to roleplay. I wanted to keep opportunities open to as many different characters as I could, so I wouldn't expect all characters to fit those two stereotypes.
So, it's basically a clue board game, slapped with archaeology instead of finding a murderer, goes around hunting Easter eggs and a RP plot was similar to Indiana Jones? Well from my view.
I'm glad to have the support of two members of such prominence! Alfieq, as to your interpretation, I don't really have anything to add; that's about how I imagined it. Thank you both for commenting and showing your interest!
You also have my support. It's been years since I've last had a fully literate roleplaying experience. And I'm totally in for an Indiana Jones-esque roleplay about archaeology and discovery. If you manage to reach your final goals and the crew abides, we might actually get to see the next big deal in the RPing section after Half Moon Academy and Precipice of War.

I appreciate the possible futures you've predicted for this, and I appreciate your support, MafiaDog! Seeing as at least four people have expressed some interest, I am going to begin work on the roleplay itself. Feel free to begin planning your characters, if you are so inclined and have not done so already. Again, if there are any questions, direct them to me whenever it suits you. I believe that you can expect the IC thread to be posted within a week.
Contrary to appearance, I haven't given up on this, but I have hit more problems than I thought I would. I'm currently working on writing the clues and deciding upon the locations where clues will be hidden. Hopefully some interest in this will remain by the time it is revealed in its entirety.

Seems interesting enough.
