Allow me to be the first to welcome you to
Angerona's Lament
The Setting:
Generations have come and gone by the hands of fate at the mercy of The Affliction. It has many names, War Fever, Soul's Blight, Mind Pox, but most just call it The Affliction. Biological, magical, other worldly or beyond the minds of mortals; its origin is unknown. Even what it does is not entirely understood or what (if any) its purpose is. One moment you could be speaking with a friend, the next they snap and start attacking you, and everyone around them. They cant snap out of it, and must be put down. They dont act like animals, they fight with actions suggesting thought, but are mute. People see their neighbors whole household succumb to this in a night, and some see whole neighborhoods come down with this . . . sickness. Villages, towns and cities have fallen to this.
Royalty may erect massive walls, but it does little if anything to quell it. Outside or inside the walls, you are vulnerable and no one can keep you safe. A mother grasping her child in her arms is as likely to turn as you are. Those that you love and care for deeply in a blink of an eye may try to kill you. You can try to hide, but The Affliction seems to give its victims an uncanny ability to track those who are not. Its unsettling to say the least. Communities used to be intermixed with many races, but now they have mostly separated. Tensions are high everywhere. The air is filled with the vile stench of hopelessness wrought by this. Nobody thinks anything will change, but perhaps, they are wrong . . .
Dont worry, I am not going to randomly give any active player the affliction in game. If the player in question is not active for a long period of time, I will take control to move the game along for those who are still playing. If the player does not return soon enough, he or she may be a victim. However you can always postpone it by giving me a message, and your free to start a new character.
Keep in mind that the game system (created by me) is designed for tabletop gaming and I am still new at being a gm. To briefly explain the system, basically the dice are fate, they decide just about everything, from what the player(s) encounter, the layout of a dungeon, the topography, to the statistics of a town. What I am most proud of with this system is the diversity in the equipment one may find. Currently there are over 20,160,000 various weapons for example. Also skills can be raised indefiently (more on skills below)
Heres a rundown of some of the basics (Yes this is an rpg meaning there are things the players can level up)
Magic:
In order to learn magic spells in game, you must acquire augments in game or make them from raw material. Augments on weapons teach offensive spells and those on armor teach defensive spells.
Skills:
There are a handful of skills a player can master. They are the following:Blacksmithing: Used for turning raw material mined into weapons and armor. The higher the better the qualtity. Keep in mind there is a risk of ruining an item. Mining: Used for harvesting raw material from mine sites. Augmenting: Used for turning raw material into augments. The higher the level the better quality of the stud, which affects the strength of the spell and amount of Magic points it uses. Gathering: Used for harvesting plants, and organic materials. These can in turn by used to make armor and weapons in some cases, and often as consumable items. Crafting: Like Blacksmithing, but for organic materials like wood or bone.
If you have any questions feel free to ask. You can jump in anytime during the campaign with a character.
Of course in order to be a player, you must choose both your race and class from the list below:
Races:
Human: A simple yet social species who is a master of nothing compared to the other races, but versed in much. They are said to be the mother of most other sentient races, but the others often repute this.
Elvin: The forest dwellers as most say. They are Agile and keen to what grows around them. Sadly they are also fragile.

Graveyard (Characters who have died):
Bert
Human male cleric. Died from the poisoning of a witch.
"Bert attempts to run to the exit, but the poison is too much. He ran only a few feet before collapsing to the ground. He retches convulsively, one hand clutches himself and the other the ground in front of him. He squirms and wriggles in intense pain. His body eventually twists in agony into a fetal position and makes another flawed attempt to get back to its feet, but again collapses and becomes limp. He is no longer moving. The others can only watch in horror from the top."
Fenrir
Dwarven male barbarian. Went mad and was slain by a group of guards.
"The commotion had alert the guards. As soon as the first one rushed through the door from the other side he blew a whistle, but as he was doing so the others were already coming through brandishing seaxs and spears. They slew Fenrir with great efficiency, and two of the other guards grabbed Greatwell's motionless body and carried it out with great speed. There were now at least two dozen guards in the hall, making it crowded, all pointing weapons to the party. The guard with feather plume on his helm spoke.
'SURRENDER AND BE LEFT TO THE JUDGEMENT OF OUR QUEEN OR DIE AT OUR HANDS!'"
He was battle-hardened and fierce, Fenrir firmly believed that the sword is mightier than the quill and often found violence a more pleasing process to use than talking. He still listened to the group though, if they thought finding a solution through words was the best option. He viewed Elves with disgust and, although he may tolerate the company of them, often went out of his way to criticize and insult them.

At this time Alyssa readies a fire spell and launches it at Jeck. It hits him in the left shoulder like a boulder and knocks him down to the ground. He no longer moves."

Whatever I just said, I didn't mean any offense. Unless we're fighting, in which case I probably did.
If I said something was a joke when it didn't seem like one, I'm making an excuse to avoid an argument I know is coming. Instead of telling me how not funny I am and how it didn't seem like a joke at all, just go along with it. Because flame wars suck and nobody wants to be a part of one.
Roughly 95% of Minecraft players hate Villagers and would be very happy if they were removed. If you are one of the 5% who actually like villagers, copy this into your signature.-RainbowGirl

Okie dokie. Once I write your character out in a few moments I will start the game. Before that I am going to contact the other two players to let them know. I am going to give a 30 minute time limit for every to act if necessary (simply following the party is not considered necessary in my book) before I take over the following action(s) of said player. This is of course there is no active players where as I will simply put the game on "pause" until active players come back. Once again, just because the game has started, it is not too late to join in.
I'm getting bored of Minecraft (especially servers). However, modpacks give a new type of gameplay and challenges. Therefore I'm resorting to modpacks. To play. And many other games.

After a long journey you find yourselves in the town of eastern district of Marshtowers. Alyssa agreed to join Zenowo and Keleth while they traveled the road to this end of the world, but for what reason she will not say why, or much at all. Alas, having a magic user in the party may prove useful in these troubled times. Keleth decided to travel the world as he was asked by his tribesmen to do so in the vain hope of finding and curing The Affliction. On a previous hunting trip he met up Zenowo and the two found common interests and become aquianted. The path Keleth was traveling interected with the home of Zenowo's and so decided to ask him if he would be interested in joining. Zenowo agreed.
The town itself is relatively large with almost 4000 citizens. By chance it was not hit too hard by The Affliction as only the western most part of it lays in ruins. The town itself is primarily populated by Thragons and the local economy is booming. There is a total of 2 inns, 4 general stores, 9 jewelry stores, 7 craftsmen shops, 2 herbalists and a smithy.
The lands around the town are mostly swampy as observed while entering. To the north west is a mountain range. Due north east is a swamp and just east of that is a grassland. To the east is a lake nestled by a mountains south of it. South is a wasteland and further west of it is a vast marsh.
A male human cleric is leaning against a wall outside of a bar. As the town is primarily populated by Thragons, he stands out . . .
((I will be writing your character out in a sec, feel free to make an impression in the mean time))
Kaleth walked alongside his new-found companions. The other Thragon, Zenowo, had recently joined Kaleth on his search for the cure for the affliction. The woman who identified herself as Alyssa had joined the two for unknown reasons. Nevertheless, Kaleth was happy to have a magic user around; they were useful in a fight and it never hurt to have more people. He continued along the cobbled street, observing the town as he did. It was one of the luckier ones - here, the affliction was not as evident. With the town being healthy, it was no surprise to see trade flowing freely. This place would have been nice to settle down in, but Kaleth had a job to do. He decided to enter a bar to look for information, and possibly, for more people to aid them on the quest.
Upon entering the establishment, he noticed a human leaning against a wall. "Strange. A Human in Marshtowers." Kaleth said to himself. Upon a quick exchange of words with the bartender, Kaleth learned little about where he could begin finding a cure for the affliction. Most believed the affliction to be the end for all mortal races and that a cure was out of their reach. It would not deter him however. He would find a cure or die trying. Kaleth was about to exit the bar, when he decided to converse with the Human.
"You there. Human." Kaleth said, "What are you doing here?"
Perhaps he could help, or at the very least, provide information.

Bert hadn't known this person name yet. From the first time talked, he believed that this person hadn't known his name yet, too.
So he spoke the first word out.
"Oh hello. I was on this place for the first time. Nice to meet you." Bert said.
That's what he can say to someone who he didn't know before.

"We are on an adventure to seek the cure, or at the very least, the cause of the affliction." Kaleth said proudly. Though some would see him as blind in his quest, he regarded little of them. They did not matter. The affliction, and all of it's victims do.
"By the look of you, I wanted ask if you will join us on this quest." he said again, pointing to the man's mace. Kaleth knew that a mace was a specialized weapon. It required a skilled user to use effectively. Then again, he had just met the man, so doing something like this was really just a shot in the dark.

I was lost in thought. More than anything, I wanted to find the cure. I just couldn't tell these other people why; it was too painful to talk about. But for some reason, I was able to think about it.
It had been a typical day in my life. I'd been eleven years old. My best friend for my whole life, Colleen, and I were having a race to see who could make it to the fabric shop and back. We could both run really fast, so it wasn't too long. It was close, but I won by about a second. I'd started jumping up and down. Insted of teasingly saying,"You only won because I wasn't trying." and then declaring a rematch and getting a head start, Colleen legitimately GROWLED at me. I'd said,"Gosh, you don't need to be such a sore loser. We can have a rematch-you might win that."She'd POUNCED on me then. And attacked me. It hadn't taken me long to figure out what it was.
A few hours later, Colleen was dead. I'd known it was what had to be done, but I'd still cried for hours. I hadn't run once since then. Each step carried memories. Memories of Colleen. Memories that were painful. Memories that I still remembered every bit of, five years later. And I'd never been the same, since that horrible day five years ago.
That was why I wanted to find the cure. Not just for the people who were affected by this virus(although that was very important to me) but also for the people that were close to them. So that nobody else would ever have to feel the grief that I did. I didn't realize it, but I was crying. Legitimately allowing tears to come out of my eyes outside of that bar full of people.
((In case you didn't figure it out, this chapter reveals that Alyssa is actually only sixteen. However, she says she's older than that and she has no plans of telling the others-please don't metagame!))

If I do not reply to my posts, I either have no internet connection, or am busy with college work. Alternatively, I may be writing up the post now. It all depends on the situation.

((Yes this is a high fantasy setting. I wish to remind everyone of this. I could always pass off the above as "magic" but please do keep in mind in the future that this is high fantasy.))
((Should my character know about the affliction before? This is because my character started little late))
((I'll probably switch from third person to first person due to having 1 character))
I stood, and start to talk to the stranger.
"The affliction? I heard that it's bad. I don't know why. but I'll join your quest." I said.
But, I hadn't knew the name of the stranger! So I asked once again.
"Anyway, what's your name?" I asked.
I hoped the guy to get acquainted with me. In the meantime, I looked at the other member of his party. There are 2 other people on his party.
Still, those 2 people's name remains unknown to me.

I'm getting bored of Minecraft (especially servers). However, modpacks give a new type of gameplay and challenges. Therefore I'm resorting to modpacks. To play. And many other games.

((Yes. Every character should know of The Affliction very well. Think of it in a very similar way as the black death in Europe in the middle ages, only more dead. Everyone without exception has been affected by it in some way and often fear they to will have it soon.))
((Sorry, I tend to skim long descriptions. Fixed! Now Colleen and Alyssa were racing with their actual feet. And yeah, I've made Alyssa a fast runner. That okay?))

Allow me to be the first to welcome you to
Generations have come and gone by the hands of fate at the mercy of The Affliction.
Nobody thinks anything will change, but perhaps, they are wrong . . .
In order to learn magic spells in game, you must acquire augments in game or make them from raw material. Augments on weapons teach offensive spells and those on armor teach defensive spells.
There are a handful of skills a player can master. They are the following: Blacksmithing: Used for turning raw material mined into weapons and armor.

Brief Description: Alyssa used to be outgoing and friendly. However, one day, her best friend was lost to the affliction. After that, Alyssa changed. She stopped making friends, fearing that they would turn on her. But even more than that, she feared that SHE would turn on everyone and have to be put down. The thought terrified her. That is why she almost never talks. She wants friends, but knows it isn't worth it for the heartbreak. Nobody knows what is beneath her cold, hard surface, and nobody wants to find out.

Brief Description: Garwend grew up battle-hardened and is proud of it. Willing to get the job done, he will go out of his way to complete any task, especially ones that involve fighting and pillaging. His mother perished due to the affliction and his father left him because of this. He is now on a quest to locate his father and find a cure to the affliction, to avenge his mother's death. He grew up with an anger problem, which explains why he is so persistent with using violence. He doesn't make friends easily, but is nice enough to not murder everyone he sees.

Brief Description: Very high intellect and dexterity. Like a rogue-noble hybrid, almost. Has a very unfortunate fear; any vaguely humanoid female. This is extremely unfortunate for our noble because he is very attractive. He often get's stalked by girls, in fact. His favored weapon is a scythe-type weapon and firearm. (If firearms are allowed.) Has a secret blood fetish that sometimes gets out of hand. (Maybe not completely human?) Likes red clothing, has cosmetic white scarf. Very attractive. Deathly pale. Black hair, huge maroon eyes. Freckles.

"Garwend explodes in anger as he thrusts his gladius at Jeck. His sword lands a direct hit in his stomach, penetrating it by several inches. Somehow he is still able to put up a fight. At this time Alyssa readies a fire spell and launches it at Jeck. It hits him in the left shoulder like a boulder and knocks him down to the ground. He no longer moves."
Garwend grew up battle-hardened and is proud of it.
Name: Alyssa
Gender: F
Race: Human
Class: Elementalist
Brief Description: Alyssa used to be outgoing and friendly. However, one day, her best friend was lost to the affliction. After that, Alyssa changed. She stopped making friends, fearing that they would turn on her. But even more than that, she feared that SHE would turn on everyone and have to be put down. The thought terrified her. That is why she almost never talks. She wants friends, but knows it isn't worth it for the heartbreak. Nobody knows what is beneath her cold, hard surface, and nobody wants to find out.

Later on I will start the game, in the hopes of more players show up. However given enough time I will start the game with one or many.
Name: Zenowo
Gender: M
Race: Thragon
Class: Samurai
Brief description of your character (personality): Strong sense of personal preservation of his comrades, but able to make calculated sacrifices in crucial moments if need be. Not one for many words, and reluctant to share ones own past. Where he gets his drive is unknown.
((Other than several grammatical and spelling errors, this has potential. I'll set up my app soon.))

I have been trying to fix those for some time, but the editing feature is messed up.
Also as soon as you decide your character and I write it up I feel comfortable starting.
Name: Kaleth Scaleshield
Gender: Male
Race: Thragon
Class: Warrior
Brief description of your character (personality): Born and raised in the warrior caste of his tribe, Kaleth has learned to fight with honor and integrity. He frowns upon dishonorable means of fighting, but respects the arcane arts. He will not actively search for battle unless necessary. Outside of battle, Kaleth is calm and stoic. Honorbound by code, he has a tendency to defend those who cannot defend themselves. Due to a lack of past experience, Kaleth does not hate the afflicted, but he does pity them.

I heard the game is about to start.

((Alright, this is another roleplay I joined.))((How sad, this character died in the post #330 in this thread.))

((Note: I'm still new to roleplay.))
Bert was leaning against the wall outside the bar. He did not know why he was here. This place were unfamiliar to him.
Then, he looks around his place. There were some people, but from the appearance he knew that these people weren't human at all.
These people were Thragon. It's a different race from humans like him.
Until someone talked to him:
Bert hadn't known this person name yet. From the first time talked, he believed that this person hadn't known his name yet, too.
So he spoke the first word out.
"Oh hello. I was on this place for the first time. Nice to meet you." Bert said.
That's what he can say to someone who he didn't know before.

"I see." Kaleth said in understanding.
