"Why shouldn't I? I know many members of this land's nobility, and I know that I'm a rarity among it. Most aristocrats are ignorant and rely on others to hold their power. Your posture, your gaze; it all suggests that you're not letting your guard down. I've seen a good many people in my age; but I've only seen someone like you once before," Elizabeth replied, being somewhat distracted as she imagined a mirror. This girl was a prodigy that only a prodigy could recognize. "It matters not if you define as nobility. You're still what I need." Oh, the wonders that this girl could perform for her if she were right.
Elizabeth glanced to the hallway which they had descended through. The guards would be arriving soon, and while she knew they would support the plan she hoping to give this girl, she would rather keep the number of conspirators low. That wasn't the only reason she wanted the girl to hurry with her response, though.
Chelsette panicked inside. How had this woman managed to see through her? Her act was normally perfect. Never mind, it could be handled, honesty was the 2nd best policy.
"Alright, you caught me." She admitted. "I'm a thief, a woman of the syndicate. I came here to rob the count of the city, and I was hoping to get away with it. I don't know what it is that you need, but if you meant prison, I assure you, I won't be there long."

Perfect, Elizabeth smiled while she still faced the hallway. By "The syndicate", she presumed the unmasked criminal was referring to the Fox Thieves. Those were some highly skilled outlaws, and "Highly skilled" was necessary for the task she had in mind. A thief is exactly what I need, she thought. No god could've done better than this.
"Ellesibet, was it? I'm glad we could meet," Elizabeth started, turning back to the girl. She had been hard to place at first, (Still she expected there were things she did not know about the girl) and honestly, the accusation she had placed was not as strong in hindsight as she had thought it was. A gut sense, perhaps, but she hated relying on instinct. All instinct lead to survival and love. I'll have so much more than survival, she thought, and damn love. "How much do you charge for your services?" she inquired, getting straight to the point. If she was here for riches, she'd get a reward.

"Are you telling me you want to hire me Madame?" She said in slight shock." All I want is a rope, and a way into the main palace. As for what you need, name it, specialties are my specialty. "
It was best to go by Ellesibet for now, her real name need not be known, and something told her the countess was fine with that.
Del Garas and the others were still waiting, growing more and more distressed.
"I'll bet she's found some man in there." Commented Frock, the largest of the group. "She's got plenty of options here to..."
"No, I suspect she has found something worth time, we wait my friends, we wait with the horses and see what she brings us." De Garas ordered. He hoped she was indeed simply getting something important, Landon's hated intruders in their walls...

"Good," Elizabeth replied, preparing to explain her requirements with haste. "Count Orelius is a rich man. He undoubtedly has scribes to write notes for him, and letters stored for him to refer to. I want everything you can carry; If he has messages from the king, bring them. If he has notes on the strength of his army, bring them. If he has letters from a secret admirer, bring them. If he has a note on where his favourite bread can be bought, bring it," Elizabeth barely paused, reflecting on when she had last obtained an opportunity such as this. "I don't know exactly where he would keep these papers, but locating it will add to your pay, of course. As for the rope, you can find some in the stables. With your skills, an entrance shan't be difficult to find. Do we have a deal?" Elizabeth finished, slowing her words as she came to a close. She still couldn't hear her guards. Where are those men? She wondered. When she had finished her business with - Who was she? Thief? Girl? The most fitting title seemed to be a tongue-in-cheek "Princess" - she would have to look in on them.

After a long trip into the woods, Kyle took a rest and decides to go back to his cozy room. Kyle couldn't found any more beast to hunt down, he wondered Is there something or someone scaring them?, but then he thinks to forget it. As fatigue already taken over his body. I wonder how that young lady is doing, does he found my room? I hope so. The light of torch around the village gave Kyle a sense uneasiness, Would the drake come back? If so, I hope that it would create less problem. It's chaotic here. As Kyle approaches his room, he felt a breeze flowing through him. When he entered his room, he noticed somebody have left a note. After reading the note left by Karthra, he took a look out of the window. Darn it! Why didn't I follow the Phoenix in the first place? Who knows what would happen to them. It's been too long since I've been making mistakes, and I won't do one again! As Kyle thought to himself, he would rather not get paid at all than having someone to face their demise. If they make it through, they would need it more than him. He takes the payment, and decide to wait for them at the village's gates.

"Very good," Elizabeth replied, reaching into a pocket of her robe. "Drink this," she then suggested, offering a strange vial. "Not too much, though." The poison in the tea had been a precautionary measure; she could never have been sure that the girl wasn't an assassin. The woman - an elder among the people of Erinvale - who had first introduced her to it had explained that it was a slow-acting toxin, made from an assortment of herbs, many of which the Countess wasn't aware of the origin of. Thankfully she had also received the antidote from that woman, and since then, the concoction had become a staple of her possessions. She hadn't came upon many situations in which it was useful, though.
***Nearly Three Years Earlier***
"You are a most kind woman, Terias," the Countess smiled, shaking the older woman's hand as she was preparing to leave.
"Oh, dear, I'm only kind to the people I like," the old woman had replied with a wink. It was a crisp afternoon, and Elizabeth had been willing to send guards with the elder as she returned to her house. The old woman had refused, though, saying she liked to think while she walked. Oh well, she had mused, Erinvale's a safe enough place any way. The Countess was proud of her fine county's people, and she thought that perhaps she could claim responsibility for some of their abnormal hospitality.
When the woman was passing her third house and had failed to stumble even once, Elizabeth was satisfied she'd make it to her house and closed the door. She held up the vial again, looking at the contents inside. "You shouldn't need all of it. Perhaps just a third of the glass," the wiry and kind elder had said of the two centimetre by seven centimetre, square based, prismatic container. The liquid inside was clear, like water, and now that Elizabeth had unplugged the top, she was failing to find any odour. I suppose now is as good time a any, she concluded, resolving to test the substance's effects. She gulped down what she presumed to be a third of the contents from the jar, closed its opening, and deposited it in her pocket, where the antidote was still residing. The clear liquid had a taste which could only be described as water, but in her opinion, the lady hadn't been lying about this solution's ability to kill a human. Deciding to wait for the effects to become apparent, she walked back to her study, where she came to lie on a padded bench. She didn't feel any discomfort yet; no pain, no illness, no fatigue.
She waited for what may have been a sixth of an hour before she could feel that the potion might be affecting her: A slight tingling in her midsection. Not able to guarantee that it was an effect of the potion, she continued resting on the couch.
"M'lady?" It was Carls Ritan, standing in the door way. He looked somewhat concerned, but that was (At the time) his usual complexion.
"I'm fine," the Countess replied, waving off the attendee. It was within minutes that she began to experience a headache, and more significant unrest in her stomach. This was followed by aches in her body, and a sense of fatigue. At twenty minutes she was convinced that the potion would indeed kill her and, satisfied with the extent of her experiment, she consumed the antidote. Now it took her around 5 minutes to feel adequately well. Kind old lady, wasn't she, Elizabeth concluded, proceeding to send an envoy to the woman's residence so she could secure access to more of the drug. She hadn't needed more, though, as she was still using the original vial.
***Leif***
"Well, I suppose now's as fine a moment as any to discuss the mission," Leif posited, breaking the silence which had befallen their conversation. "I suppose we'll obtain new transportation and supplies."
"Thank you, and what is your story? Why is a young warrior by himself out here?" Turgen asked,
"Well, tis not a happy one mate. I worked for my father in law for years, he acted as if I was nothing, as did me mother. Well, after some years in the field, I acquired Thor here from the chief for my work." He explained as Angus mewed. "Aye, and I got this fella. It occurs to me ye may not have 'em in your parts. He's a hunting cat, a good fight'n one to. I found him before Thor, he was just a cub. Anyway, I went hunting, I wanted to find a meal for my village, I was hoping they would like me, but alas it was no good. I unknowingly lead a bloody Dragon to me village. They rejected me, and so I wonder." Ardin finished, staring off into the distance. The pines and oaks were lovely, the air fine. He would miss Schot lands. But the journey ahead excited him.
He took out the flint and used his sword to spark it, starting a campfire. The wolves would stay away now, he hoped.
Chelsette knew exactly what the Countess had done once she told her to drink it.
"Thank you." She said finishing. "I'll be back, and with everything you need."
She walked out of the room silent as a mouse, leaving no trace.

Yes, we should be able to get more supplies, but I think our mission is nearly over sir." Karthra replied. "This does after all, seem to be one of the largest villages around." She watched Lief's expression, hoping her comment was not out of line. If it was, they could settle it once they got to the village, it was close now and she was more than ready for bed.
"I know what it is to lose your homeland, maybe one day you'll return to your home and start anew there." Turgen said as he swung off his horse, he led the horse to a tree and tied the animal up quickly and started moving around near Ardin, collecting wood and poling it into a campfire.

Elizabeth moved the tea cups to a place where servants would find them more readily, and then went to reorganize the chairs and blankets that had been disrupted by her and the thief. On the other woman's chair she found crumbs of what she assumed was the "Blood" that had fooled even her. The Countess did not know of any natural materials which could so perfectly emulate the oxidization of blood, so to her the most reasonable answer was an expertly designed concoction. Definitely something worth investigating, but not something she necessarily needed. Finishing the small tasks she was using to delay herself, she marched towards the door she had earlier entered through, and prepared to discover why the soldiers and the driver had taken such a long period of time to enter the building.

"Yes, this village is definitely one of the more advanced ones these barbarians have created," Leif agreed, but as he called these people barbarians, he realized that perhaps the term was incorrect. Though he had been taught throughout his life that the Shcots were the most ruthless and primitive of the Terman factions, what he had seen over the course of the day gave him an impression of a society on par with his own. How could he rationalize attacking these people? There was little they would gain from being governed by Garlants. For his own peace of mind, and for the effectiveness of the mission, he had to see more.
"We can't be done yet. Not until we've formed an average of several settlements. The General is relying on us to tell him what he will be facing; if we can't tell him accurately, then we've failed. And if this isn't what their largest communities resemble, then that failure will be a drastic problem," Leif announced. The torch light of the city had been visible for a while, but now the features of the wall, tallest building and rivers were visible. As Leif finished his statement, the pair was reaching the small bridge that lead over the river.

((Sorry for the late reply, I must have overlooked the notification.))
Chelsette stalked silently to the stables, where she found exactly what she needed. A hay hook, it was a tool farmers used to hook hay bales and drag them, but to her the metal hook would become a climbing tool. Grabbing this and a rope, she made her way back into the main corridors.
(Sorry for how short this is, expect more soon.))

"Be wary to look on this so positively," Leif countered, but within he knew that Karthra was correct. It was good to have friends, though, and hopefully this wouldn't be their only one within the town.
It was difficult to make out his features in the darkness of the night, and despite the flickering of torch light across his face Leif couldn't discern Kyle's expression. His body language showed no signs of recognition, so it was possible that the Fairlan had not yet noticed them.

((This should not have taken me so long, I got sidetracked. My bad.))
As the two approached the gate, both tired, Kyle noticed them.
"Hey, everything alright?"
"It is now." Karthra replied. "I appreciate your concern."
"Just doing the right thing."
"Well thank you. I think my brother and I have some sleep to catch up on, so I bid you goodnight."
"Goodnight, I'll see you around." He replied, walking away.
Karthra continued towards the Inn, expecting Leif behind her. Those blankets and sheets would be a most welcome treat indeed, she was exhausted.
Ardin sat by the fire, no sleep was coming to him. He looked up at the stars, wonder in his eyes. He remembered the children's story of Gota, the great star sheep. The story said that there was once a sheep who loved his masters, and all men of the world. He was so swift and white that one day, when he jumped for joy when he saw his master, he became a cloud. He watered crops, provided shade and was a kind beast to the people. One day however, a great dragon came and attacked him, causing him to fall out of the sky and crash. A wise shaman condensed the dragon's flame into a ball, and brought it to Gota.
"Eat this great Gota, eat it and fly!" He commanded.
Gota took the ball into his mouth, and with all his might, rose above the houses, past the other clouds, and out into the unknown. The ball exploded, but Gota lived, his body being scattered. Still Gota was happy. He glowed and shone, giving light to the men. He had become the stars, and he was doing what he loved most: Serving his masters.
Of course this was only what children were told, but Ardin was reminded. Reminded of home...
He sat there awhile, there were few noises save for crickets and the occasional stir from his companion. He didn't know if he would ever find a place to call home again, but he was sure going to try.
((No problem. Is it bad that I read "Ardin" as Arant and I didn't realize my mistake until it said "...find a place to call home again..."?))
Leif ambled in the direction of the inn, analysing Kyle's behaviour. Why is he so concerned with our well being? Leif wondered, imagining Fairlan counter-espionage efforts taking place in Sitheachdon. But if they were already here, and they knew that Leif and Karthra were at least suspectable, then why hadn't they reported them to the Sitheachdon chiefdom? They want to see what our next move is. If they are to glean information from our actions, then we must be exceedingly careful. There could be spies anywhere. Or perhaps they plan to entrap us, and then torture us for information? Leif had no idea how far from reality his thoughts had strayed, but he continued to think of counter counter-espionage manoeuvres. When would they have a greater chance to imprison us without great fanfare than when we sleep in an abode which they have given us? Deciding to inform Karthra, Leif looked to his left and noticed that Karthra had been walking far more quickly than he had; as a result, she was now just over a meter ahead of him. He quickly surpassed her pace and then matched it when he was on par with her.
"I suggest we alternate between resting and being alert, so as not to find ourselves susceptible to surprise attacks," Leif suggested, mentally reserving himself to the first shift. They were now within striking distance of the inn.

Having found nothing unusual with the soldiers' tardiness, Elizabeth had gone to what she would now claim as her room, and she set about preparing herself to sleep. There was nothing more to do that day, and all things for tomorrow had already been considered to the greatest extent possible. Therefore, her mind was calm as she lay down to rest, and she quickly fell into sleep.

Karthra remained entirely calm, but still acknowledged Leif. "Have you detected a spy?"
Her Commanding Officer had proven competent, thus far, and she had no reason to doubt him. But this was sudden, and odd...
<I>
Chelsette moved stealthily throughout the facility of the walls. Having obtained a hay hook from the stables, she now had a grappling hook. From there, she found one of the watchtowers that was built into the wall, empty. She moved up the pine stairs of the tower, the lack of light telling her that the top was indeed empty to.
From the top she could see everything. The village below, dark save for a few pubs and homes, the farms, the gardens, and, in the center, a great house. This, she decided, must belong to the Count. She hooked onto the side of the tower and began her slow decent to the ground. It would have been easier to go through a gate, but much more risky. She controlled her breathing, slowly grappling down the side, and finally, touching the ground.
With a jerk and jiggle of the rope she dislodged the hook. Winding the rope up, she continued down the narrow street.
A sound behind her.
Grrrr....
She turned to see a large dog had been following her, and he looked less than pleased. Chelsette crouched and held out her hand, making kissing noises. "Come on Mon petit choit."
The dog calmed down and let her pet him. He was huge, around three feet tall at the shoulder. It panted as she pet it on the head, then walked away. Chelsette was glad it hadn't barked, that would have been disaster. Continuing on the brick road, she realised just how much she hated Landon cities. The air was still and lifeless, the streets dirty and wet, nothing like her sea side home had been. But puddles were hardly the worst thing on the streets, for up ahead was a Landon guard...
((I should write for the General soon, I've just been so busy.))
Aside from ourselves? Leif thought, but he dared not say this. As a leader, he needed to show far more competence. His attitude had to be completely serious, and when he did joke, that joke had to be very impressive. So instead of his joke, he formed a sentence of more serious nature, and he spoke this sentence.
"I do not see clearly how our acquaintances will act, but this Kyle has aroused my suspicion, and with the suspicion of one, many others whom the light does not shine upon directly become suspects in their own right. I believe simply that chances should not be taken when risks include the lives of those who matter to the Garlant cause." His words were crisp, his voice monotonous.
Finally the two reached the inn. It was a respectable establishment, and in the midnight's light were shining countless fires, each producing its own warm light that welcomed the night travellers. Leif stopped very close to the entrance, and he turned to face Karthra, so they could speak in hushed whispers without unfriendly ears seizing their messages.

Ardin nodded off, but was promptly awoken. There was a growl from the woods. He leaned over and tried to shake his companion to get his full attention. Something was stalking the camp...

"It shall be done Madame, you have no worries." Chelsette promised. "I should be back in an hour. Farewell, and thank you."

Goodbye, Halloween. See you next year.

"Thank you, and what is your story? Why is a young warrior by himself out here?" Turgen asked,
Woop. Unimportant stuff here.

Chelsette stalked silently to the stables, where she found exactly what she needed. A hay hook, it was a tool farmers used to hook hay bales and drag them, but to her the metal hook would become a climbing tool. Grabbing this and a rope, she made her way back into the main corridors.

Karthra noted the craftsmanship of the bridge, the details on the side of the rail and the wolf head carvings on the end of the rail. These men were by no means dumb, or animalistic. Just, different...
"Agreed, I have some questions of my own. I need to find a messenger to send word to the General, he will want to know how we're doing." She suddenly spotted a figure by the gate, Kyle had been waiting.
"It looks like we've made some friends, "brother". "

Karthra remained entirely calm, but still acknowledged Leif. "Have you detected a spy?"
Her Commanding Officer had proven competent, thus far, and she had no reason to doubt him. But this was sudden, and odd...

"I agree commander, I'll take first watch." Karthra said, still wet and dirty. "And that way I'll have a chance to clean up." She realized Leif was acting odd. Almost as if he was putting up a front to hide what he really wanted to say. But, she disregarded this.
Ardin nodded off, but was promptly awoken. There was a growl from the woods. He leaned over and tried to shake his companion to get his full attention. Something was stalking the camp...
