Karthra nodded and walked away. Stopping by the room Kyle had offered them, she grabbed her green cloak and short sword. Along with that, she had purchased a sack and in it was the makings of a torch. She left a note on the small table in the apartment, telling Kyle what happened and when to expect her back.
To Mr Kyle Lain.
Thank you for the hospitality. Lief has been lost in the wilds fallowing the Dragon attack, I am off to find him, heaven knows he must be hurt and wet. I am heading to where the rivers from a lake, this was where the Phoenix flew. I should return by tomorrow night or sooner. I've left some currency as rent payment. Best wishes, Karthra.
She walked out the gate of the walled town and headed to the lake. Secretly she was entirely horrified that her commander was missing, but she would never admit that, not even to herself.

Leif walked tentatively through the forest. His dagger was now sheathed, resting after it had so graciously saved his life during the flight of the dragon. In his hand, he was grasping his sword, ever aware that he could be called upon to fight the dragon once again. The trees surrounding him were dense, and there was little sign of human activity, which was not encouraging as he searched out Sitheachdon. A low, rumbling sound emanated, akin to a growl and a moan. Was there not a word for that? Ah, yes, a groan. But it was not a groan of pain... It seemed to be just another sound n the forest. It was certainly coming from a beast, probably mammalian. An elk, perhaps? Large herbivores like that could be dangerous, but Leif felt confident that with his skill, he could kill this groaning creature and quench his hunger. Unfortunately, prior to killing the beast he would have to locate it, which did not seem very likely, until Leif heard leaves rustling and twigs snapping in the relatively silent woodlands. The creature would have to be large in order for the noises of its presence to be heard from this distance, no matter how inaudible they were. In a controlled manner, Leif began a stealthy approach of the location where the sounds were emanating from. He wouldn't starve to death; not today.

Laire sat down in a chair placed in the corner of her father's residence. The wooden frame was covered in a wonderfully soft arrangement of pelts which comforted her.
"Are you going to to be okay?" her father asked, his gaze made purely of concern. She nodded, feeling better every moment since she had awoken.
"It's just a headache. I'll be better before you know it," she replied. Her father gave her a pitiful smile, and stood for a few seconds before he turned and left the door, both understanding that he had to go. The dragon had cause massive carnage in the village. There were still houses burning to their ashes, and there were many people with major injuries. As of yet, there were no casualties reported directly to him, but the Chief had seen the collapsed Risin' Angel bar. That would surely produce some deaths, and some angered citizens. Time to face the furious, the fleeing, and ill-fated.

At last, the caravan came to a stop and the horses of the Ornton Guards dispersed; several with riders guiding the ones without. Three of the guards stayed behind, having dismounted while the Countess' carriage pulled into a stall. The carriage driver dismounted, immediately moving to give the Countess a hand in getting down from the carriage, while the two Erinvale soldiers secured their horses in appropriated stalls. The building they were inside was an extension of the main palace. The Countess accepted the driver's assistance and came to the floor, where she checked first to see that the girl from the woods was still present.
"Your highness," Captain Haveron began with a small bow, his face still disguised by the visor, "These two guards will stand at this entrance overnight for your protection. Your rooms are through that door there," He pointed to the top of a small flight of steps. "Everything you should need is already within the rooms. Tomorrow, when you are ready to meet with his excellency, Count Orelius, alert any of the guards located at the entrances," the captain finished elegantly, though his voice was somewhat mangled by the iron that was blocking its path. The Countess noted the way he said "entrance" when referring to the guards, an effort to subconsciously reassure her that she was not at all being held as a prisoner. She nodded in response to what he said, and then turned back to her people. The driver was still securing the horses and, together with Guardsman Peterson the carriage's few contents were being unloaded. Behind her, the two guards had gone to their positions around the entrance. Captain Loyset Haveron had disappeared somewhere into the night. She knew that the guards would come inside shortly. She turned back to the girl again, and somewhat strangely realized that she had forgotten to learn her name.
"Young lady, come inside. We have some matters of importance to discuss, and you may as well stay the night here," the Countess instructed to Chelsette. There's still something to learn about this Fairlan...

((Merry Late Christmas! Good news: I finally decided to say screw it and just get a new laptop with my Christmas money! Bad news: I don't think I'll be able to afford anything else for at least 2 years.))
((Barry, I had posted on page 13 that if you wanted to like "remove" my character, then you can. I read every post since that one and it seems that you haven't gotten to replying to that or something. I don't want to be rude, but please come back to this because I don't know what to do.))
((I can change her faction if you want me to. I can see why she is not a good first "representative" of the Sholan faction. Also, I may not be able to post often, I don't have access to my PC at the moment, and it's hard to post when you're trying to do it on an Iphone that hates your guts.))
((Well, I'm not gonna make you switch, but the time is not right for full out Sholan use, infact, should you decide to make a new character, I will make them inaccessible. We could use more Landons and Fairlans.))
"Yes M'lady." She replied. Finally, she was going to get inside that place. If only she could get out again...
Leif grew closer to the creature. It was hidden by the darkness of the night and silhouettes of the trees, but Leif could see that it was enormous, certainly larger than most bears. It was perhaps a moose, but this creature had a heavier build than those mammals. Leif, still gripping his sword, was now only a few metres away. The creature had stopped moving, and was foraging on a low-growing bush. Strange that it isn't resting yet, Leif pondered. Perhaps this creature was nocturnal? Whatever it was, he would kill it with mercy.

Elizabeth lead this Fairlan girl into the guest house, which was filled surprisingly well with advanced amenities. They passed through a somewhat grand hallway, where paintings lay on the walls and two closed doors lead into separate rooms. At last they arrived in what appeared to be a room for comfort, with couches and cooking utensils. Elizabeth noticed a pot of boiling water over a wood fire and silently made a remark on how thoughtful the Orntonites were being. Of course, this was all an attempt to woo her into agreeing with something. New trade deals?
"Dear, would you care for a cup of tea?" Elizabeth inquired as she walked towards the pot of boiling water, preparing to make two cups of whatever tea was being kept in the box on the ledge near the fire. There were also a quartet of cups, positioned neatly beside the box.
((Indeed, whatever your decision may be, it will be nice to have you around.))
"I would be delighted" Chelsette replied. She looked at some of the paintings, the leafing on the walls. It was nice, the paintings were clearly from a Fairlan artist, the the light used was as if it was painted by the sunny sea. Oh how she missed the warmth of Fairlan lands, the sea. The smell of wine. But a comforting smell reached her now, it was the smell of tea.

"I'm afraid I never learned your name, darling. Using this endearing terminology is beginning to grow annoying," Elizabeth mentioned as she prepared the tea, two separate cups. She picked up each in their respective hand, and walked over to where Chelsette was still standing. "Have a seat if you wish," Elizabeth commented, as she passed the tea in her right hand to Chelsette, and then took a seat herself.
((EDIT: I just realized this is my 100th post on this forum! Rather short, but it'll do.))
"Oh pardon me Madame! Je M'appelle, em, that is to say, I am Ellesibet Dametro. I apologize for my lack of thought. I beg your pardon." Chelsette smiled a smile that would melt any heart, save for one of stone.
General Arant went to the doorstep of the large stone and wood home ahead of him. He knocked on the old oak door, dust coming from the wood as his glove banged against it.
"Who is there?" A voice shouted from within.
"Your favorite brother in law!" Arant shouted back.
The sound of rapid footsteps were heard as the door flew open...
"Oh pardon me Madame! Je M'appelle, em, that is to say, I am Ellesibet Dametro. I apologize for my lack of thought. I beg your pardon." Chelsette smiled a smile that would melt any heart, save for one of stone.
((Thanks!))
"Dearest, it's no problem. You've every right to be forgetful of your manners at the moment," Elizabeth replied, returning a nearly equally charming smile, but this one was laced with sympathy. "Ellesibet, did you say? Well, I'd believe that's the Fairlan spelling of my own name." Elizabeth gently took a sip of her tea. It was surprisingly good, although a tad strong for her tastes.

Suddenly, the beast was alert. Leif stumbled backwards, as it reared up, growing to nearly double his own height. It made what seemed to almost be a growl, and in the glint of the moon, he saw the huge canines in its mouth. A giant beaver? One of those extinct, long-toothed hunting cats? What it was, Leif had never seen one before, and that made him think towards two other beasts he had recently had extremely novel contact with: The Phoenix and the Dragon. The former had been revealed as a heroic bird, but the latter would have killed him with glee. This creature was, for now, more dangerous: Leif didn't know its intentions.

"It is indeed Madame, you are quite the cultured lady. Indeed I'm quite sure that in the time of our nation's trading in the the great conflict, we must have shared many names." Chelsette replied. She was keeping up the act well. Once the countess was in bed, her real talent would show when she snuck out...
As the beast raised one of its fore legs, a twang rang out from a few yards away.
"Hey you! Big dummkopf! Care to pester me?" A female's voice called out.
Karthra* notched another arrow, having hit the beast in the hind end. It turned to look at her.
"I can hold him for a awhile Commander, take care of yourself!" Karthra said.
She knew Leif wouldn't run, he was to brave for that, but she wished he would. He was more important to the mission after all. Or at least she thought that was her motive.
((Alright, I'll edit the wikia entry shortly if you haven't already))
{Elizabeth}
"I appreciate your compliments, dear. Are you enjoying your tea?" Elizabeth asked, as she took another sip of her own. The girl's respectful attitude definitely leant itself towards approving her claim of nobility. Her knowledge of the Great Conflict may have been slightly off, yet it still displayed some level of higher education, another feature of the richer class. However, if there was one thing that Elizabeth had learned, it was to never trust someone too easily.
(She had learned far more than one thing, mind you. Just respect the expression. ).
{Leif}
Leif was about to use the distraction to his advantage; he would launch himself forward, swing his sword and slay the creature with one swipe to the neck. But then he realized - the only reason he had moved to attack the creature was because he had feared that he'd be stuck in the forest for a while. Now Karthra was here, and he'd surely be back at the village soon. A creature this rare had no right to die. Leif sheathed his sword and, strangely, considered apologizing to the animal for the disturbance he had caused. That was when he noticed the huge claws, and he decided that perhaps it would be better if he just left.
"No need Karthra, this beast can't be fast. We'll outpace it. It was only trying to sleep," Leif replied, speaking loud enough for the other Garlant to hear. He walked, relatively quickly, in a semicircle around the beast towards Karthra. The was still growling, baring its canines, swinging its arms, longer than those of a bear... Titanodon! He was glad that the name had come to him, even if there was no real need to know it. An old Garlant saying reminded him why he was pleased to remember the name - Knowing is the highest form of happiness. Therefore, to know why you are happy will make you more happy than to be happy. One must learn everything, and once one knows everything, one will be happy. If he could remember correctly, it had originated as war propaganda during an ancient military engagement, long before the Great Conflict.
Slowly, Karthra backed up, bow still drawn. The cold night wind blew the fur of the beast, and the hair of the girl as they stood opposite of eachother, the giant towering over the two humans. Finally, it dropped back down and munched of vegetation.
As they started to walk back to the village by torch light, Karthra was thankful Leif was alive. She was silent, waiting for her commander to speak. She wanted to know how he survived, what happened and how he ended up here. Infact, she almost wanted to tell him how excited she was to see he was alright.
"No you idiot! How unprofessional. What were you even thinking?" She scolded herself. But, unable to remain silent any longer, she did address him.
"Your actions were brave and noble commander, I shall inform the general of your skill as soon as I can send a letter."
"That seemed cold." She scolded herself again. "I wonder if Kyle found my note, we really should go soon and he deserves pay." She thought of the kind Fairlan. He was like Leif, brave, but much less serious. If only he was on their side.
((I'm going to be gone until friday. Sorry! I hope all goes well until I return.))

((Well, see you then!))
Leif was slightly taken aback by Karthra's exclamation. Did she want praise for her recommendation? If Leif had known of her connection to the General, perhaps he wouldn't have been as confused, but alas we can not know, for he did not know. Eventually, he decided he may as well thank her. He was strangely elated that she appreciated his skills.
"Thank you, I too will appraise your skills to the General. I must ask how the village is recovering? Or should I first ask how it was that you found me so quickly?" Leif replied. The second he could already guess at, but he felt in the mood to lengthen the conversation.
Ardin mounted his horse after gathering the rest of their things. Angus had come back with him, sweet roll in the mouth.
"All right then, we best be heading west to Orma. It'll be a long trip, but for a warrior such as you, it will seem as a day I recon." He remarked, handing Turgen a sack of wood to carry. "Is that everything we need?"
"Ehem, pardon me." Karthra said, holding back the panic of seeing Leif disappear into the clouds. . "But I'm Kartha Von Carax, I was hoping I might know who you are sir."
She looked at the man, older than her clearly, but still very strong. He was obviously the girl's father, but could he help her find Leif? Was Lief even alive?
Turgen released the reigns on his horse and struggled for a few seconds but managed to tie down the sack of wood to the back of the saddle with his one arm. "I would think so" Turgen said and re-gained his hold on his reigns and moved his horse forward, starting their journey.
""The girl, Laire, her father is putting things back to order. He seems a good man." Karthra replied. "I'm sure he is quite grateful, for me protecting his daughter and for you, well, for you saving the village I supose. The entire place would have been ashes had it not been for you and the phoenix. And that brings me to the second question. I went to the lake, and a trail of feathers pointed to the west side of the lake. From there I found your boot prints. That poor bird, and to think of what we've done to him..."
((Anton, if you ever wanna bring Phoenix back, at any time, I know an easy way.))
Ardin and Turgen rode on, this was to be an adventure of grand scheme. Ardin was honored, a giant of the north accepting him as a companion. He was also on edge. Most companions had no desire to suck your blood.
"So, If ye don't mind me asking, where exactly do you come from, and how did you come here? That is, if that's not to personal for you." Ardin asked. He wondered at the life a northern giant. He had heard stories, none of them good...

"Indeed M'lady. It is wonderful. I am ashamed I don't have anything to offer you at the moment, some of my country's wine perhaps. Indeed, it would please me to give a gift like that." Chelsette replied.
Outside the palace in the woods, Del Garas paced. Him and the others were getting restless.
"Where in high heavens could she be?" One of the men demanded.
"She's doing her job, you know Chelsette, her operations take time." He said. "She'll get it done, just wait."
((More information on possible charrie later.))

"He's truly the reason I'm alive," Leif replied, and then went silent in respect for and contemplation of the great bird. What would have happened without the Phoenix' presence? Well, the dragon most likely would have remained in the city. Karthra and himself would be dead, the mission would never be completed, and there would be excessive loss of life. This brought him back to the question of why the dragon had left so suddenly, without inflicting more damage upon the village...

"Oh yes, I have tasted the wine of your country on occasions of the past. It was... Magnificent," the Countess paused another moment in anticipation of her next question. "Girl, you are not from the nobility. Perhaps you once were, but you're far past that age. You're too smart. Too observant. If you were a princess, you wouldn't need to cultivate those skills," the Countess posited. She considered continuing to speak; she could give proof for her claims. But that wasn't necessary yet. If the girl refused to admit to anything, she could use her proof for a second chance at conviction. Of course, there was the chance that she was wrong; the chance that this girl was an ordinary noble. If she were, then she wouldn't matter. But if she weren't?

Falgrn headed north, he was going to Dragons Peak. Even with the wind on his side, it would take quite some time to get there. He was going to have to explain his actions to the others...
Goreato roared from below him in the pine forest. Falgrn roared in reply. Slowly, he came in for a landing.
"Falgrn, fire drake. Do my senses betray me, or have I heard talk that you, a comrade of mine, have been terrorizing men." The large grey male asked in a voice gravelly and deep. Goreato hailed from the eastern coast, he was a dragon of the times past. At over two hundred years old, he was an elder dragon. He was much larger than Falgrn, and though he possessed no fire breathing ability, his mental capabilities were incredible. He had been one of the few dragons born without intense greed, and helped end the great conflict, much to the dismay of the other dragons at the time.
"Terrorizing? No my elder, not terrorizing. I am setting to finish what was started so long ago. Follow me great one, for we must reach the meeting I called. I, rather, we, have much to discuss."
The two great beasts took off for Dragons peak, snow falling as they flew.
Bored Turgen decided he might as well tell his companion some of his past, "I was the champion warrior of my people, the War Chief, I led the raids and with my aid, and my sword, we were a wealthy people. Then one day we were destroyed by a vampire and his army of mindless people he had sucked dry, the vampire sought revenge for us destroying his village. He and his army attacked at night and destroyed everything we had, he tried to take me down. In our fight he took my arm and I took his life. Although he left me with this curse, ever since I've been looking for a cure for this dreadful curse"

"Aye, a bloody shame it is. You have my sympathies mate." Ardin replied. Turgen had lost everything via war, he had lost everything to dishonor. To disowned warriors they were.
"Alright, up ahead is a clearing by a stream, do ya see it? I'd imagine there'd be plenty 'o fish in there. Shall we stop here for the night?" The sun hung low in the sky, and they needed to start a fire before the wolves came out and about, or worse yet, maybe a Lycan.

"Why shouldn't I? I know many members of this land's nobility, and I know that I'm a rarity among it. Most aristocrats are ignorant and rely on others to hold their power. Your posture, your gaze; it all suggests that you're not letting your guard down. I've seen a good many people in my age; but I've only seen someone like you once before," Elizabeth replied, being somewhat distracted as she imagined a mirror. This girl was a prodigy that only a prodigy could recognize. "It matters not if you define as nobility. You're still what I need." Oh, the wonders that this girl could perform for her if she were right.
Elizabeth glanced to the hallway which they had descended through. The guards would be arriving soon, and while she knew they would support the plan she hoping to give this girl, she would rather keep the number of conspirators low. That wasn't the only reason she wanted the girl to hurry with her response, though.
Karthra nodded and walked away. Stopping by the room Kyle had offered them, she grabbed her green cloak and short sword. The creature would have to be large in order for the noises of its presence to be heard from this distance, no matter how inaudible they were. In a controlled manner, Leif began a stealthy approach of the location where the sounds were emanating from. He wouldn't starve to death; not today.
"Are you going to to be okay?" her father asked, his gaze made purely of concern. She nodded, feeling better every moment since she had awoken.

((Cheers! ^_^))

((*Final spelling, it is what I remember best.))

((Alright, I'll edit the wikia entry shortly if you haven't already))
"I appreciate your compliments, dear. Are you enjoying your tea?" Elizabeth asked, as she took another sip of her own. The girl's respectful attitude definitely leant itself towards approving her claim of nobility. Her knowledge of the Great Conflict may have been slightly off, yet it still displayed some level of higher education, another feature of the richer class. However, if there was one thing that Elizabeth had learned, it was to never trust someone too easily.
(She had learned far more than one thing, mind you. Just respect the expression. ).

Turgen released the reigns on his horse and struggled for a few seconds but managed to tie down the sack of wood to the back of the saddle with his one arm. "I would think so" Turgen said and re-gained his hold on his reigns and moved his horse forward, starting their journey.
Woop. Unimportant stuff here.
((Sorry for any errors, not used to this browser.))

"Pardon me? Not of nobility, why of course I am, I've simply been abroad in my life, I've traveled far. I assure you Madame, I am just as noble now as I have always been." Her statement held double meaning, one of them personal. "I must ask, why would you doubt me?"

Woop. Unimportant stuff here.
