Falgrn whips his tail out and hits the Pheonix midair, knocking him off course. He still has not noticed Leif.
Turning to look at the tree again, he takes a deep breath. Exhaling, he launches a stream of fire from his mouth, setting the top of the tree on fire.
Leif had stopped his approach when the Phoenix had crashed into the Dragon, a shockwave knocking him back a few feet. Once he regained his footing, he looked back upon the scene, where the Dragon and Phoenix had continued to engage in vicious combat. That wasn't all the Dragon was doing. Leif watched as the dragon exhaled fire upon the tree, and the canopy was engulfed in flames. With this, the young Garlant soldier re-initiated his run towards the tree, sword now unsheathed.
Leif reached the dragon, and stabbed his long, sharp sword straight into the scales, using the force of the collision to propel himself onto the dragon's leg, and from there onto its back. Of course he knew that a direct, blunt-force attack would result in no serious damage against skin as tough as the dragon's, but with his Garlant-made sword of beautifully sharpened steel and his precise targeting, he was confident that the sword would find flesh beneath the scales, and should it not, at least he would distract the dragon from Kartha and the girl. The girl was paramount to this mission, and as long as Kartha lived then the mission would still have hope.
Phoenix, that has been hit by the dragon, crashes into the bar and unfortunately burns it to the ground. He lays in the wreckage for a second, trying to remember the last time that he had felt such pain. But soon he was up in the air again. Even if Phoenix was rather powerful, the dragon was even more powerful. The whole village would be dead and burnt before he had penetrated the dragons scales, so instead he decides to do what he can do, by grabbing the closest people in his claws, fly over to the nearby forest and drop them off to safety. Phoenix continues to fly and move people to safety until he can't find any more. Unfortunately he haven't had the chance to grab a hold of Karthra, Laire or Leif, as the dragon is a bit too close.
(( Tell me if i'm allowed to grab you guys ))
((Karthra is going to stay and fight, Not sure what Commando wants for Laire. I was expecting Tugen and Kyle at some point.))
Falgn roars, the sting in his leg causing discomfort. He felt Leif on his back, but the human no longer had a sword. His cunning minds had an idea.
Swiping with his tail, he managed to hit Karthra's bow. Unfortunately the girl dodged the blow, but the bow was launched away onto a roof top. He plan took effect.
Flapping his wings and jumping, he launched twenty feet into the air. from here he could begin flying as normal. He slowly began to fly higher...

Leif, thankfully, was still in possession of his dagger. Thankfully the dragon hadn't begun flying vertically, but his line of ascent would eventually cause Leif to fall straight to his death. Already it was too late to jump, he was on for the long haul. Leif quickly turned to his sword; the fine blade was lodged firmly in the dragon's scales, however it could fall out at any moment with a sudden, sharp movement of the left leg. Leif realized he had been delaying the inevitable, which was rather unwise at this moment. He grabbed his dagger out of that sheathe that was fastened to his leg, and he stabbed it into the dragon's back-scales. These were hard for the dragon to affect, so Leif would probably be able to hold on for the duration of the flight. If he could at least get the dragon far enough away, then the mission could still be completed. If he could kill the dragon... Well that was a feat certainly worthy of a promotion.

Meanwhile, the Countess Elizabeth Primis' carriage continued upon its route. Guardsman Peterson considered making a remark as to the beauty of the forest, but he decided it may be considered unprofessional. As well, he would have to shout to be heard by all in the immediate surroundings, so his respectability would be negatively influenced. He was a proud, accomplished soldier, and he certainly didn't need to lose that all now. Meanwhile, everyone was anticipating an eventful attack by bandits.
((Leave Laire as well. Eventually I think that she and the Phoenix will create stories together, but I know that for now, her story rests in the hands of the Garlants.))

((I'm back. I just finished the last exam yesterday, so I should be able to stay on for some time.))
As Kyle just finished getting everything to fit to his bag, he heard a roar that only something very big, and strong could make. The roar shaken the very foundation of his body. Before he could see what or who created such noise, a silhouette of something everyone and everything fears was flying above him. A dragon has just flied above Kyle. He quickly rushes toward the village, not caring that he left his bag at the forest. As he was only three hundred feet from the village, he saw an epic clash between a drake and a phoenix. He quickly armed his crossbow , he removed the steel piece of the bolt, and replaced it with the gold piece he found. He aimed carefully, trying not to hit the phoenix. He shoots his crossbow. The bolt was rapidly approaching the two mighty beast. Kyle closes his eyes, hoping that the bolt won't hit the only defender of the village that can stand a chance against the terror. ((Should I decide who the bolt will hit? Or should I leave it to Barry?))

((I'm glad to hear you're doing better. Query: Since Sitheachdon is so close to two rivers, is this lake a widening of one of those rivers or part of an offshoot attached to the rivers?))
Leif failed to even notice the lake, instead he was watching the battle between the Phoenix and the dragon. There was an interesting pattern that had developed, and if he were the dragon, he would take advantage of it immediately. However, Leif had no doubt that his mind was superior to the dragon's, and if it were not then at least he had less distractions. With his dagger so firmly lodged in the dragon's back, his options were limited. He had no way to harm the dragon, and he had no way to manoeuvre either. However, these scales did create quite a bit of friction, so perhaps they'd be able to keep him on the dragon's back if he moved his dagger...

Fire... beautiful fire... a shining purple fire... swirling, twirling... darkness... black... and then a stream of waving purple... blue... black... orange... fire? Sun. Light... bird... light...
Laire opened her eyes, peering up at the woman that had possibly saved her life, although she did not know that. She could see the setting sun, and the beauty of her village... screaming... she could hear screaming? Who was screaming? This was such a beautiful place. Why would someone ruin the beauty with screams? Ouch. Her head was hurting. Why would her head be hurting? Alcohol... beer... the pub... the handsome man... the fight... the Phoenix... Phoenix... Suddenly, Laire was back and fully awake. What had happened after the Phoenix? She had touched the bird, but now? Laire looked up to Kartha for answers, but realized she should probably start with a polite introduction.
"Hello. What's your name?" It was not her best friendly greeting, but with her headache she was having trouble forming rare words and remembering common knowledge.

As the bolt hits and pierces thouh the drake's scale, it flies away. As Kyle opens his eyes, the drake was missing. He looks around, but nothing's above. So he decided to get his forgotten bag, and return to the inn. He had created some fortune out of his hunt today, as order or barlo hide was rapidly increasing, his luck is no ordinary luck. He returns to the blacksmith to ask if he has some gold pieces, and fortunately, the blacksmith did have gold pieces. Kyle bought the pieces for some coins. After the trade, Kyle returns to the inn. As he enters his room, he starts to remove his crossbow bolts , with golden tip. He returns to the woods to continue his hunt.
Turgen leaned patiently, he leaned against a young tree that had just reached it's prime. It's wood was strong and it's leaves were bright, this tree would last for a long time after and would watch the world with a tree's neutral gaze for all it's life. The tree was the opposite of Turgen, it was young while Turgen had surpassed his prime and was reaching middle age. It was strong while Turgen was a one-armed cripple, while he could still fight he is not as strong as he once was. The tree is a pure oak, unblemished, and Turgen is a vampire. A sub-human some would say.
But for Turgen, he was just tired. Damn tired. He leaned against the tree and rested his eyes as he awaited Ardin. Preparing himself for the long ride ahead of him. He slowly opened his eye's as Ardin approached, "I'm guessing this is mine then" he mumbled slowly as he saw the riderless horse. He put his foot in the stirrup and grabbed onto the saddle's horn and pulled himself up with a heave.
Turgen was obviously an inexperienced rider, he sat in the saddle uncomfortably and had a look of unease on his face, instead of the look of control and confidence a experienced rider has. "We better be on our way then" Turgen said and moved his horse forward with click of his tongue, and light kick to it's sides.
((Sorry for the late reply, I've had a competition and it took up a ton of time.))

Chelsette realized where they were now. This area had many rich homes, and the counts would make a nice score. Instead of signalling her friends, she waited to get into the city.
((More soon, sorry.))

Use the Ring Luke, he who controls the Ring controls the raptors~ Dumbledore
The small caravan pulled gently into Ornton, without much fanfare. Elizabeth could have chosen to bring a much larger delegation, but at the moment that was not how she wished to present herself. As for the girl? The Countess had plans for how she would be dealt with, but first she needed to find Count Orelius. Of course, his location was no secret: His palace was built in the middle of the town, tall enough for all to see. It was something of a recurring joke among members of the noble houses that if you were to ask Orelius to do something, he would do so in such a minuscule manner that no matter how he performed this task for himself, his would still be more impressive. Now, slowly, the group made their way through the winding streets towards the large edifice that protruded upon the sunset skyline.
Chelsette noted several men looking at her as she walked, but her mind was else where.
The palace, no doubt full of treasure. She was glad she had dropped a note when the driver was not looking. It informed her freinds to wait by the gate until sundown. If her plan worked, they'd all be rich.
Falgrn is done with this nonsense.
"Follow me here bird!" He roars.
Suddenly, he dives, and begins to fall straight towards the lake...

Leif struggled to retain his grasp after the sudden change in direction. His feet now dangled towards the Dragon's head; the only thing keeping him from his doom was the dagger, which even now began to weaken its hold. Leif tried to gain some friction with his feet, but it was in vain. His dagger was released from between the scales, and his descent was separated from that of the dragon. Now he was falling free, dagger in hand, and because his body provided less resistance, he eventually came level with the dragon's head, shortly before splashing directly into the water.
Phoenix makes his best attempts at keeping himself in the air, but being dragged down by a creature bigger than double his own size makes it rather hard to stay up in the air. So he falls, falls rather hard with the dragon. He splashes right into the lake, the water around him begins to heaten up and he sees Leif, laying there under water. During a small moment of power, Phoenix dashes towards Leif and makes his best attempt to throw him into the nearest bush. Soon after he slowly sinks down under water and the fire goes out...
(( Now, I ain't saying that he is dead. But now we can have some kind of awesome Laire and Phoenix roleplay soon/later ))
((I'll fill you in via PM when I have the time.))
Leif feels himself flung from the water, landing on the shore. Somehow, he had managed to retain his dagger, but now he sheathed it. He reached for his sword, only to be reminded that he no longer was in possession of that sacred heirloom. Recalling where he had last seen the sword, he looked to the dragon's leg, but alas it was not there, which meant that it was somewhere in the lake, or perhaps along the path between here and the village. For now, there was nothing better to do but hide in the forest until the Dragon departed.

The caravan of Countess Elizabeth Primis continued through the streets, slowly approaching the palace. If the Countess had chosen to look outside of the caravan, she would have seen street merchants not yet closing their stalls, despite the coming darkness. She would have thought of how Count Orelius' societal system was unsustainable; creating such vast dissatisfaction among the majority of the populace, while a huge military was rewarded with lavish food and residences. One could never govern indefinitely in that way.
"Halt!" Elizabeth heard the voice from within her carriage and she prepared to exit the caravan if need be.

Laire was still waiting for the girl who she had first met in that shop earlier in the day to respond to her question.
Karthra brushed the hair away from her face, looking down at Laire.
"Karthra*, I'm afraid I don't recall yours." She said, helping Laire up
Falgrn slowly crawls out of the lake. His mission was complete.
"From here on out, they will be ruled by fear, the spark has been made."
The Dragon left the water, and Leif began scanning for his sword. There was a secret to its design which made him sure that it would not be lost beneath the lake's rippling surface: The Sword was hollow. This gave it the perfect weight in combat, and now it was what held the sword aloft in the lake. It was not too far from the shore, but it would require a swim. Thankfully Leif was not useless in that aspect of survival.
***
"Laire Sangster," Laire replied. She was still very out-of-sorts, what with the fainting, and the headache, and the noise. Couldn't everyone be a little quieter?
"Laire!" a man's voice yelled. Laire recognized it instantly; the Chief, her father, was the only man with a voice like that. She looked over from her docile position and saw him running in her direction, a look of relief on his face of ginger-tinged brown hair. He had a beard and moustache, but they were well kept, and his head of hair was shorter than that of many Shcots. It could be assumed that he had been forced to make a choice between running to the battlements, the crisis scene, and running to find his daughter, but there would have been little doubt as to where he would choose to go. Since the unfortunate circumstances with Laire's mother, her father had easily taken on the responsibilities of both parents. The two had a very strong bond.
Ardin mounted his horse after gathering the rest of their things. Angus had come back with him, sweet roll in the mouth.
"All right then, we best be heading west to Orma. It'll be a long trip, but for a warrior such as you, it will seem as a day I recon." He remarked, handing Turgen a sack of wood to carry. "Is that everything we need?"
"Ehem, pardon me." Karthra said, holding back the panic of seeing Leif disappear into the clouds. . "But I'm Kartha Von Carax, I was hoping I might know who you are sir."
She looked at the man, older than her clearly, but still very strong. He was obviously the girl's father, but could he help her find Leif? Was Lief even alive?

"Of course, young lassie. I'm Ulsar Sangster, chief of this village, and also Laire's father. I see you've already met my daughter," the Chief replied. Laire slowly rose to her feet with some minimal assistance from her father, who was polite as he talked to Kartha, but obviously more interested in checking on Laire's well being. Of course, he also had an obligation to the battlements, where the soldiers would still be on high alert. "I'm afraid I'll have to be going now. Laire, you need to go home and rest," the Chief remarked, and he began to lead her away from the scene.

Leif grasped his sword in his hands, the water still lapping against his cheeks as he treaded it expertly. Leif had been offered a position in the Garlant navy, and he had only turned it down because he knew that out on the seas, he wasn't in full control. A huge storm could come and destroy his ship, never giving him an opportunity to save anything. Sea-faring men and women usually had nothing left to lose, or something big to gain. Either group would have ornery attitudes and compromised abilities.
The sword felt perfect, even here in the middle of the lake. Now Leif began back to shore, but suddenly he remembered the Phoenix, who had seemingly made his final acts the rescue of Leif from the water and the dragon. Leif couldn't understand why the Phoenix had done such a thing for someone who had been so antagonistic towards it, but he knew that if he were to ever encounter a Phoenix again that he would treat it with respect he had not afforded this bird.
Finally he made it back to the shore, and he realized he was hungry. There was no wildlife in the vicinity, but of course there wouldn't be. The struggle between the two legendary beasts would have certainly frightened any deer, squirrels, foxes and rabbits in the area. Berries would give him some sustenance, but not enough. Thankfully, Sitheachdon was not an exceedingly great distance from the lake... He thought... Must be this way, Leif decided, setting off in what he could only assume would be the correct direction due to the angle from which the dragon had brought him to the lake.

"Halt!" The small caravan came to a stop as a group of royally clad soldiers approached from the street in front of them. Their horses would have created long shadows, but these were disguised by the much larger shadows cast from the buildings. The one who had made this exclamation was the most prominent of the soldiers, wearing a splendid blue cape. His iron helmet's mask was down, with a metal crest pointing back from his head. The visor created two ovular cavities, connected by an empty passage, through which invisible eyes peered out at the caravan.
"Are you the caravan of her Heighness, the Countess Elizabeth Primis?" the prominent soldier inquired. The small royal platoon had come to a stop. Each of the guards had a lance hinged to their saddle, but there were also two archers, and the captain carried a formidable sword in a sheath to his left.
"That is our denomination," the driver replied. Elizabeth silently appreciated the formality this soldier of Ornton had used; she knew that it was not something she could expect from the majority of the military folk here. From within her enclosed carriage, she could not see any of the men who were speaking.
"Who is the girl?" the blue-caped soldier demanded, pointing at Chelsette, who had been given a blanket from the storage area of the carriage to cover her torn and dirty clothing.
"She's of the Fairlan nobility. She was stranded in the forest; we escorted her here to arrange for better transportation," the driver again responded. The captain seemed to give a small nod, but he gave no verbal response to this statement, instead choosing to signal for the guards to form a procession around the caravan.
"I am Captain Loyset Haveron of the Royal Ornton Army. I will be escorting you to Count Orelius' residence. Is this the totality of your expedition?" the captain asked as the rest of his platoon began moving into positions around the caravan.
"Yes," the driver replied, somewhat proudly. There are many reasons for you to be proud, the Countess thought, discerning which one she thought was being displayed presently.
"Very well. There are adequate accommodations prepared at the palace," the captain informed the caravan, and with that he gave a signal to move onwards, now leading the caravan with his rich blue cloak and elegant crested visor. The two Erinvale guards fell back, staying closer to the caravan and the Countess.

((Sure))
Woop. Unimportant stuff here.
