Your eyes snap open as you gasp for air. It has been hard to breathe while sleeping, but you survived. As you recover from your state, you realize you have no idea where you are, nor what happened before. You are in a white room that does not appear to be accessible from any side. Through the glass, you see a camera, a big sign that says "00" with icons you can't make out from inside, and an observation room. Suddenly, you hear a voice say "Hello, and welcome to the Aperture Science Enrichment Center. I have processed your specimen, and 'we' are ready to begin the testing. Once it opens, walk through the portal that will appear in 3...2...1..." Suddenly, a fire-looking hole appears in front of you. You hesitate for a moment, then go through without harm. Here begins your journey in Aperture Science Laboratories...
This is a serious/semi-serious roleplay. It is centered around the events after P-Body and Atlas complete their chambers. (In game) I'm assuming that because GLaDOS deleted Chell from her memory and acted the same way to the robots, she begins how she used to be. With the bots done with their chambers, she brings out some of the leftover humans, and constructs more bots for preparation of when she gets the tests done.
Rules: No Godmodding, Powerplaying, or Metagaming. Even though this is Portal, try to keep the violence and language to a PG-13 level.
try to make your posts relevant and try to have at least 2 lines a post. Try to have fun, though! Put "For science" in the "other" section of the application, so I know you have read the rules.
Practically anything that's an "improved" Portal Gun, Long Fall Boots, or Artificial Legs would likely be considered overpowered, or useless. Sorry, but it's just not possible here. Don't do it.
As a core, you can either operate some functions of the facility, or help the test subjects. You can look and act any way you want to, but remember the rules. You're just a core.

Bio: Garry has "lived" his whole life shying away from GLaDOS and Chell, literally thinking of every possible situation that could happen. Near the end of the bot's main courses, GLaDOS found Garry, who was in shutdown. Garry noticed he was floating, and dared not look at her. "Please don't hurt me, I don't want to be incinerated, or blown up, or..." he continued to list the possible ways to die at her hands. She only chuckled, and said "you'll be perfect." She then locked him away temporarily, and continued building the chambers.

Time Activated: Almost right after the opening of the Vault.
Color of Portals: Black and White
Appearance: http://nothumbs.deviantart.com/art/Robot-119363441 Credit to NoThumbs on DeviantArt
Bio: SD-IV-4-MOTVATR, called "Quintus" by former lab workers, is the fourth adaptation of a series or quadrupedal robots designed to boost the Confidence of test subjects, complementing them on their work, aiding them with their puzzles, even saving their lives with the Grapple that he may eject from his mouth, same as his portals. Obviously, Quintus and his predecessors didn't turn over too well with GLaDOS, and all four were shut down very quickly after their activation. It was recently found that his Methods were extremely effective compared to most, and so they reactivated Quintus, Junking the other three. They were working on an incredibly lifelike Human body, so he could interact with the Test subjects on a more emotional level, but it was thought that the extremely advanced technology in this body would make him a little TOO lifelike, and enable him to become Emotionally bound to (A.K.A Become friends with or Fall in love with) actual humans, and so this body was left unfinished somewhere in a deep part of the labs. Quintus May or may not be able to find this body, complete it, and program himself into it's frame.
Other:He is designed to become friends with humans, and motivate and help them in any way possible. His Portal gun as well as a Grappling hook are stored withing what would be considered a mounts, as well as his voice module that allows him to speak. You know. For Science.
I'm sure you all know who Wheatley is but....whatever.
Core App-
Name: Wheatley
Job/Personality: Intelligence Dampening Core
Wheatley has a simple and humorous personality. He is a complete moron, and has little-to-no knowledge of Aperture technology. Wheatley is sometimes helpful and honest, but usually gives advice that would be detrimental. He does a dark side however, and (like all Aperture robots) a hatred for birds. It is assumed that being in Glados's body corrupted him, and caused him to become temporarily evil. Wheatley is also in constant denial/ignorance that he is an outright moron. After being trapped in space, he seems to be genuinely sorry for nearly killing Chell.
Time Activated: Before Aperture was abandoned, and later after Glados was destroyed by Chell.
Appearance:
Bio: "You're not just a regular moron. You were DESIGNED to be a moron..."
Wheatley was originally created by the scientists who made Glados. To inhibit her from murdering everyone in the facility, they used the Wheatley core to generate abysmally terrible ideas. After the cores failed to stop Glados, not much is known about what happened to Wheatley. He tried to apply for the construction line, but once the position was filled, he was recruited to manage the test subjects in suspended animation. Countless years later, Wheatley and Chell attempted to escape the facility and accidentally re-activated the dead Glados. They eventually escaped the test chambers and switched out the Glados core for the Wheatley core, which turned out to be a catastrophic mistake. Wheatley became corrupted with power, and he and Space core were exiled to space.
Now Wheatley and the Space core have reentered Earth's atmosphere and crashed near Aperture labs, waiting to be activated....
Other: He did not do it for science.
((May I use the Space core as an NPC, or do I need to make an app for him?))

Name: Test Android 777, goes by Parks Brit
Time Activated:Sometime during the Black Mesa catastrophe. Re-activated shortly after the events of Portal 2
Time Deactivated: After Half-Life, but before Portal
Color of Portals: Black and White
Appearence:
Bio: Project Polyester was a secret Black Mesa project that was a complete failure, only producing 1000 subjects, the 1 that survived escaped. Most had typical problems of not being human enough (models 1-776) while others were to aware that they were an android, destroying themselves (models 778-1000). Subject 777 was the perfect mix, however he was to determined to be mass produced, as all the models would escape Subject 777 is made to be as human as possible. Subject 777 also has improvements from a regular human, being a machine, such as being unmeltable to 9001 degrees Kelvin. Subject 777 is also full of himself, thinking himself to be superior to others, especially machines. His thinking ability is exceptional, he is one that plans his actions in advance. The original personality and facial features came from was Parks Brit, a volunteer scientist for the project. He was accidentally released from containment during the Black Mesa catastrophe and escaped in a car with other scientists. The real Parks Brit was long retired, living on a secluded island in the pacific. After the car crashed in a wheat field, deactivating him, most of the scientists ran away, to become test subjects or perhaps found by the combine. He woke up years later to find a outhouse in the weat field. He believes himself to be human.
Job: Alternate and Frame Research station operative. ((Conducts "unnecessary" and general identification research(for example scans new recruits and gives them their first test) ))
Personality: calculating, cold, smart. He doesn't turn his eye away from you and goes his own way of experimenting. He is clearly distant mentally to the crazy GLADOS and prefers to work alone. He sees humans as a competent but weak species.
Time Activated: The time when Glados was programmed into a potato battery. He was created to replace the mentally strenous experiemtns that GLADOS was doing before.
Appearance: A black core of a smiliar model to the basic model, with faster clasps for faster blinking and a higher camera resolution. he is painted black and his lensecolour is lime.
Bio: His first job was boring. Some animal who didn't even know simple 0's and 1's had to be "escorted" through portals to learn it's mechanics. It would have been easier to teach a circuit how to be a motherboard. But then, the human came. What a wonderous being and capable of such intelligence worthy of a machine. It was weak and limited through it's flawed brain but what a delightfull sight to see a competent being use a portal gun. marvellous!
Other: He's amazed by the human digestive system and would personally like to experiment with it, though he is not allowed to.

((Lets make some noise. I will refer to my character as Parks, the person he is supposed to emulate as an example))
As Parks slowly re-actifvated in the dry wheat field, a small bird flew overhead, perhaps trying to find some wheat seeds to eat to survive another day. Parks opened his eyes to find him a few yards away from a scorched van, with numerous plants encompassing it's black skeleton of what was once it's body. Parks quickly zipped open his right pocket to find if he found any belongings, only to have the zipper break off once it was fully open. Surprisingly, Parks found a note in his right pocket, slightly worn from so many years, but readable. Unfortunately it was in binary. Parks picked up the note and read off the numbers.
"Who... wrote this?" Polyester murmured to himself. Parks opened up his left pocket to find a revolver. Parks theorized this is the weapon he used to get out of Black Mesa. Parks pushed the spindle to the right and found the gun empty. "Damn it!" Also in the pocket was a knife covered with a sheath, years have likely made it duller, but it could probably cut wires. Parks put the gun and the paper in his left pocket and zipped it shut with the knife. Looking near the burnt van he found a spherical object, long deactivated. The small crater it made in the grown was quite visible, indicating the impact was recent. Opening the back of the sphere, a few wires seemed to be busted and disconnected, and the hard drive and memory hardware was poorly made. He reconnected the wires, not bothering with the hard drive and memory and pushed a button that was quite hard to reach, requiring Parks to break a wheat stem and use it to press the button.

Wheatley slowly opened his eye, the blue lens coming back on. "Ughh....." He could see movement, but it was mostly blurry. When his vision was finally restored, he noticed he was in a wheat field, with a human face staring back at him. "AGHH!! -Oh. You're a human! I haven't seen one of you in...quite a while actually. Where are we?" Wheatley moved his eye around, observing the area. He noticed that he didn't see the Space Core anywhere.

Parks was startled when Wheatley yelled, not expecting to see a robot speak, much less yell. After calming down, Parks crouched down to Wheatley, observing him in an attempt to identify what it is. After a short while, Parks decided to ask him a question. "Who and what are you?" Polyester checked his right back pocket and found a pin of some sort. On the pin was a circle, stained in numerous places forming 6 diagonal lines, all pointing to the center while a particularly large stain was in the center, covering what was once a poorly drawn entrance to a facility painted black.

"My name's Wheatley. I'm a core but...well, you probably wouldn't know what that is. I had a friend around here somewhere...." Wheatley watched as the man took out a small pin. After several seconds of viewing the pin, he said, "What's that thing you have there?"
The pretty brunette sat up in her relaxation chamber, her head foggy with the lingering effects of a medically-induced coma. She stood up, swinging her naked legs off the side of the bed as she tried to regain some control of her min. Slowly, she stood, having to brace herself against the wall for a few long moments. She inhaled deeply, her nude chest heaving with the effort after so long asleep. She turned, walking a little more steadily towards the dresser in her provided room. It was filled with undergarments, a tanktop, and an orange jumpsuit. The same thing was in the other five drawers. She pulled the clothing on, only zipping the jumpsuit to her navel, letting the sleeves hang loose. Now fully conscious and dressed, she spared a look in the mirror above the dresser, taking the time to pull her hair back into a messy ponytail to keep it out of her eyes. She turned, exiting the room, her long-socked feet padding softly against the tile floor as she walked to the terminal at the end of the hall. She pressed her palm against it, and a pair of patented Longfall Boots dispensed from a chamber near the floor. She grabbed them, holding them in her free hand as the dispenser provided a Handheld Portal Device. She grabbed the device in her right hand, slipping it on partially as a glove. The gun whirred as it recognized her fingerprints wrapped around it as it prepared her preferred, purple-shaded portals for testing. Another repetitive day of the same testing. Nothing to do but run them again. God knows She probably thought of a twisted way to change the tests again. She was almost melancholic as the doors to the testing grounds slid open, quickly shutting behind her again with a definite "click".
This is a serious/semi-serious roleplay. It is centered around the events after P-Body and Atlas complete their chambers.
