Intro:
Welcome to your life. I know right, how interesting. Feel free to just do whatever you feel like, though it's likely there will be consequences for any actions you perform, this may only be a RP but your character still has to face any conflict that arises. For the most part this is a simple 'life' RP, there is no magic, only science, you don't even have to get caught up in the story, feel free to jump straight to the application at the bottom. (Remember to read the rules...)
Prologue: (Feel free to skip)
[GST11:10:26 AM] DimensionDistort_0: The Organization is about to overthrow us all! There’s no doubt that the action of a small group are about to generate a revolution in the way all of humanity go about their daily life. The outcome is catastrophic.
[GST11:12:43 AM] Alt: Sure, sure, and who might you be? Some wackjob claiming the end is near? These forums should be for legitimate discussions only, it’s a shame so many of the mods are corrupt.
[GST11:13:51 AM] DimensionDistort_0: I am a Traveller from the year 2041, and i’ll be happy to answer any questions you may have.
[GST11:20:20 AM] Alt: Okay mr. Time Traveller, why are you here then?? Did you get here in a phone booth or a Delorean?
[GST11:24:50 AM] DimensionDistort_0: I’m actually here to pick up some older computer parts which are crucial to my mission. Ha ha, very funny, i’ve seen both those series.
[GST11:33:55 AM] QuantumString: Uh.. Hello?
About:
Welcome to this forum role play by Solawind. The RP is set in a fictional city based on Akihabara and is a slice of life RP, meaning much of what happens is your everyday occurrence. The main aspect setting it aside from ‘Teen Life’ RPs is that there is an underlying story about a small group and their meddlings in time. You may integrate yourself into the core story or perhaps take no part and instead live out your plain life as you will.
Take note that i will try to involve people in the story as much as possible, so your backstory will be quite important, you grew up in a shrine? Good, people will probably visit. Have a background in history? Someone might send you an email asking for help. This RP draws influence from the anime Steins;Gate, though will contain none of the same events or people.
Time Travel: (Feel free to skip the story, the setting might help you build your app.)
Time Travel within this RP may be a little different to how you normally have seen time travel, this involves non-linear time, so if you go back in time and stop yourself from losing a foot in a freak accident, you don’t magically grow a foot back. If you go back in time and kill your grandparents, you don’t start vanishing.
This also means that if you go back in time and change your own path, only the ‘you’ of this time gets the new memories, you don’t suddenly remember picking that note off of the ground and going to buy ice cream because you found some money.
Note there will be ‘house rules’ for time travel, explained by characters but defied at your own risks.
-Do not stop yourself from going back in time, you won’t have a place to return to. For the first part of the RP you’ll only be given access to limited travel, you’ll need to wait until the other you goes back in time before you can take your normal place. If you don’t follow this rule, there will be 2 of you in the one universe.
-Do not attempt to drastically change history. Time travel will be limited in the time you can go back to start with, but even still it’ll be the general consensus that our characters don’t screw up the entire world order and draw unwanted attention to the group.
Setting:
The story is set entirely within a city based entirely off of Akihabara. (Called Akibahara?) The setting plays a small role of importance in the central story but a larger role in your own individual stories. Perhaps you want to frequent some maid cafe or just browse the shops near your apartment. Whatever you do it is up to you as stated briefly in the introduction, feel free to run your own day to day life issues and live a life outside of the central plot entirely if need be.
(Also as stated above) I'd like to integrate most characters into the story as possible, so your back story is kind of important, things such as skills or friendships (discussed ooc first of course, i don't want to suddenly have a long lost brother) will be good things to note in your backstory.
For entirely comedic purposes i’ll probably be referencing places like WcDonalds and products such as Prangles, Dk.Pepper and Macrosoft Winding XO which are all within the setting so by common sense you too are allowed to do so.
For places you can feel free to make up your own few shops/locations you frequent or feel free to use real ones or whatever. As other characters do the same you can then use those locations for some player interaction.
Story so far:
The year is [2014], the month is [August] and the weather is [hot and humid.]
In an otherwise bland world, an individual user of the popular website @chan posts claiming to be a time traveler from the year 2041. As per social customs, the majority of users brush off his insane claims but one user chooses to follow the mad rantings for what a waste it would be to miss such an opportunity.
<All major events will get added to this section so that new people may catch up with the story.>
Rules:
1. Follow forum regulations, the forum has rules on what is appropriate, such as not using foul language or discrimination, it’s mostly common sense, but read up on the rules if you feel you are doing something wrong.
2. All the common RP rules, mainly to do with avoiding meta/power/god gaming. You can read up on these things and why they are bad in the GFRPD+I Thread.
3. Don’t be an idiot. Treat people how you’d like to be treated, if your character is supposed to be arrogant and you are a really good roleplayer then let others know that.
4. There is no minimum limit for posting/ applications, the only real requirement is that your character isn't some sort of Mary-Sue.
Application: (Feel free to add + change as you please. I personally stylized my own app.)
Appearance:
(Image or Description would be acceptable.)
Name:
(This takes place in a city based off a japanese city, so a japanese name would probably be most appropriate.)
Age:
(Anything around 14-25 would probably be most appropriate for this RP's story.)
Gender:
(Male/Female)
Personality:
(Just some quick info on your character's personality. How they act around others and what they are like to be around.)
Backstory:
(Just a bit of informations on where you come from, education, part-time jobs, etc. Might be also helpful to include living situations and such. The Roleplayer's Writing Whatsit has some pretty nice tips on character building. Try for at least a paragraph though less may be acceptable. Quality > Quantity. )
The year is [2014], the month is [August] and the weather is [hot and humid.]
Personality:
Satoru while caring, is often scattered all over the place, always thinking of twelve different things at once and attempting to think a couple of steps ahead in whatever he may be doing at the time. He is quite comfortable with his routine though is always up for a change in pace when something more interesting or efficient comes along.
Satoru makes a decent effort to keep many friends, rarely forgetting a name but often has little time to spend with anyone since he is more often than not already investing his time into some crazy scheme.
Backstory:
Occupation:
Studying, Bachelor of computer science, second year.
Status:
Uh.. yes.
Favorite Colour: Green.
History: Satoru comes from a family line working with technology, his grandpa built some of the earlier computers, his father is always away on business meetings for some new form of banking technological breakthrough and his mother develops webpages for large corporations. While those before him usually have had a clear path to expertise, Satoru doesn't really find one particular aspect of technology interesting enough to make a career out of, rather he enjoys a lot of different aspects.
Initially some of his friends thought he was just giving in to what his family wanted but Satoru found that 'coding stuff' was just straightforwards and interesting and decided to go from there. His parents barely noticed that he even enrolled in his current course. Satoru enjoyed the first year of his classes much more than he had his highschool, here he could be a social reject and no one would care in the slightest, it wasn't like the fedora wielding classmates would judge him.
At 20 and in his second year, Satoru decided to move out of his family home and into a small apartment where he would dine on cheap ramen and sleep in some form of bed-like structure. It wasn't long before his desk was littered with pencil-scratch drawings and cables. By this point Satoru's 'bunker' had become 'the base of operations' for which his friends could visit him, since going into the outside world more often than not would just be "Uncalled for."
Satoru commonly feels that he isn't doing something right, the feeling that something is out of place. When he was younger he would mess up quite a bit, always learning from his mistakes but yet always feeling heavy guilt. He like to keep his friends nearby to reassure him that things are going fine, especially if they aren't. And will usually try to give the same encouragement to his friends when they need it.
His favorite food is Pancakes, though he'll often complain when they aren't cooked right only to eat them shortly after. His drink of choice is tea when there's a spare cookie or two to dip in it, as childish as it is, or if that's not the case then usually some form of carbonated fruit juice would be his go-to drink. He likes to over-analyse food at times but will usually stop if he notices it affecting the appetites of those around himself.
Appearance:
Satoru stands at 5'7" with grey-black eyes and soft brown hair. His usual attire varies though he is usually not seen without his lab-coat, a trademark item which Satoru justifies with "Computer science, there's science in there so i have to wear it." Satoru usually carries a couple of pens and a notepad with him though prefers not to be carrying anything in his pockets, he holds an aversion to wearing accessories such as watches or hats.
(it is one of the rare flawless time travel system it works this way: when you use an time machine it create an new universe who have as state the state of the universe you are coming from at the time you want to travel so if you go in prehistory and change stuff it will not change anything in the universe you are coming from)
I suppose, though i view it as based on a multiverse in which all timelines already exist.
Basically the divergence timeline system in which the further you travel back the more divergent line you travel to, thus travel into the distant past or future decreased accuracy leads to more and more offset so travelling back a week may be similar, but a thousand years and it may be a completely different timeline.
If you're interested i highly recommend Steins;Gate, or at least reading about the time travel on the wiki there. Else, don't worry, it's not crucial for anyone to understand how the Time Travel goes down.
Basically it provides a means to be able to time travel without having to worry about "What happens to the other you" and "Can i kill my grandparents and cause a paradox?" perfect for RP.
-It's 3am, so i can barely think right now.
-If you want to go into deep discussion make a PM and i will discuss with you (not now though, sleep.) I'd rather not confuse people who don't want to go too indepth.
Well, you already know that I'm in. My app will probably be up later tonight.
EDIT.
Minami Ayano || Age:20 || Female
Personality:
Minami is smart. She's always been the "top of the class" archetype, having a very high IQ and being decent at sports as well. Socially, she has never been a big-shot, she can hold a conversation just fine but is perfectly comfortable with silence as well. She's mature for her age and is doing decently for herself, though she isn't particularly interested in what she is currently doing, which is part reason she decided to join high-school friend Satoru Taiyo in his experiments.
Occupation:
College dropout, currently unemployed
Backstory:
Minami comes from a long linage of scholars and researchers in different branches of science. Her father was a physician and her mother was a chemist. Most of her childhood was with her grandparents as her parents were busy with their work, making her grandparents take a big share of the parents-role. Both of them were retired and had plenty of time to spend with her, so she never really felt any need for a lot of other people in her life, a common trait in her family line.
She stayed with her grandparents till she got into the high school she wanted and had to move however. Despite not being that far, it would be too long to take public transit every day and she was feeling ready to live closer to the city. During her years in high school, she was usually at the top of her year, usually from her lack of after-school interest and dedication to schoolwork. She never joined any clubs and focused most of her time on doing well in school. She got in decent contact with Satoru because she found him interesting as a person, something that didn't happen particularly often.
After completing High School, she moved on to College. Mainly due to high pressure from parents she barely knew, she ended up picking up physics as well, but dropped out after less than three months. It wasn't her intention, but after her father had committed suicide for an unknown reason, her mother refused to let her stay as far away from her and forced her out of the course. She stayed with her mother for about three months before she had finally gotten enough and sneaked out of the house at night. There were newspaper reports for weeks about the "Vanished Minami Ayano" which forced her to move commonly and she had no chance at entering college again in fear of being recognized.
She spent the next year and a half writing a book while trying to find out her father's reason for suicide. She has yet to succeed on the latter part, but managed to publish an educational book for elementary school maths about half a year ago, under a pen-name of course. However, with little interest in writing school books for the rest of her life, she successfully managed to get in contact with Satoru again and moved to Akahibara to help him with his research while trying to clear up in her own mess at the same time.
Hobbies:
She's an amateur storywriter, decent on acoustic guitar and enjoys various aspects of Otaku culture, mainly video games and TV-shows.
Appearance:
Minami has blue eyes and her hair is dark brown. Her height is rather average, being at 5'3. She's usually seen wearing a pair of jeans or a skirt, along with a black hooded sweatshirt with a button-up shirt under it. Her ears usually have several rings in them, and she occasionally wear a necklace with a small gem hanging in the end.
If you see me on this site, it's probably because I'm not particularly interested in it. Or I may be slightly intoxicated, though probably you won't see me here.
Just as information for anyone that intends to join, we'll be relying on pre-established relations. In other words, we'll be skipping straight past the "How do I get involved" segment because some characters would already know one another and everyone would already be involved in one way or another. I'd suggest shooting Sol a PM if you're uncertain about how to get involved.
Oh yeah, one last thing, don't feel intimidated by me and Solawind's character sheets, we both overdid them because we got into it, there's nothing to really "live up to" or whatever. I'm not trying to stamp us as elitists or anything, I'm just saying, if you feel intimidated, don't be. If you're not, that's great as well.

Keep in mind that this is also a 'slice of life'RP where you can just chill and do whatever. While there is solid story going on around you, it is perfectly acceptable to take a break or never get involved.
Suggestions for established networks i have at the moment are "Online friend" or simply have a day job at some shop other player characters are likely to visit.
Really was hoping to start a RP, but it looks like the competition is real. If this doesn't get any more applications in the next couple of days then i guess it's dead.
Okay, so Reptiliandreams is interested in joining, some other people are apparently interested as well, which is great, hopefully we can get this up and running soon.

Takashi Iemochi || Age:21 || Male
Personality:
Takashi is quite slow, often taking his time to understand things. However, once he grasps the general idea, his mind breaks down even the toughest subjects with speed, snowballing faster and faster as his mind works out the topic. Blessed with a particularly good memory, he could remember any particular bit of info from start to end with ease, as well as displaying a knack for patterns and algorithms. Feeling a constant need to stay in motion both in mind and body, he could often be pacing around while thinking of something, or unconsciously solving a cube out of boredom while pondering how to fix up the perfect bacon and eggs. Very amicable, he prefers to have lots of friends even if he doesn't spend much time with them, and though he doesn't voice it often, he prefers being with someone to discuss whatever he's thinking about with.
Occupation:
Bio Med Tech, 3rd year.
Backstory:
Takashi's family largely consists of doctors. His mother was a doctor, his aunt was a physician, his grandfather was a surgeon of some sort - you ought to get the idea by now. His childhood was spent in his magical uncle's clinic, wherein he often played with syringes filled with water and blood pressure pumps. Running around with a nurse every now and then, he learned of their uses and functions fairly easily, his parents remarking an aptitude for medicine and wishing him to be part of the industry in the future as well.
Childhood went as a fair breeze for Takashi despite the variable speed of his learning, and while he wasn't the top of class all the time, he was an outstanding student in his own right. He often volunteered to help around the clinic during sports fests and other physically taxing events, through which he became a familiar helper to someone suffering from an injury.
Moving onto highschool, he went on to be part of the First Aid Youth Group, learning more about how to treat various physical ails as he moved on through life. It was during this time he made some real friends, first among his team and then among his class as time went on, and found that he enjoyed peoples company as much as helping them did. College was right around the corner after this time, and his parents, as expected, egged him on to take a medical course.
Taking on BioMed Tech, he went on to excel in the course, often being looked up upon as one who knew a vast amount of technicalities and details concerning the course, gaining a knack for the patterns and algorithms required by the machines that allow for ease of dispensing aid to patients. While not a proper doctor in his own right, he was often described to be close enough to one, having burned through several books back at his parent's home.
Now living alone in a condominium near his school where one could find a plethora of books and both finished and unfinished puzzles as well as a board full of research notes, he is currently enjoying a lull in his life where he sits at ease with his education and a year from being finished, enjoying himself with coffee and bagels in the morning as well as trips to the park to merely observe life as it happens. During this time he started corresponding Satoru once more, intrigued by his ideas, spurning him to make his own.
Hobbies:
He likes solving puzzles, be it jigsaw, crossword, and rubiks cube among the most common. He reads a lot in his spare time, however, he often forgets that he's reading and makes up his own stories, inadvertently confusing himself as to which story was he thinking about, be it the one from the book or one he fashioned himself. Has a great appreciation of music, often listening to a variety of string instruments, but has never taken up any.
Appearance:
Takashi has hazel eyes, with his rounded face framed by loose, golden locks of hair. A short man for his age, only being 5'3 and not an inch taller, he has a preference for large jackets that make him appear even smaller. His casual attire often consists of a white button-up shirt under a dark blue sleeveless sweater paired with a dark set of pants. He has a variety of necklaces, though he often wears a skeleton pocketwatch as a pendant, a pair of dog tags, and a cross beneath his shirt.

Sometimes I wonder if it's all too easy.
Lying, cheating, stealing your way to victory.
Though just how far would you fall for a dream?
Kimiko is one of those people who is always smiling no matter what happens; the world just never seems to affect her. She’s friendly to others and tries to be nice to everyone, but like all humans her patience and tolerance is limited. She attempts to view a situation in multiple ways and dislikes when people assume there’s only one way to go around with things.
Backstory:
Occupation: Student; Psychology first year. Part-timer at a small restraunt.
What about Kimiko’s childhood? Well it was as peaceful as could be. Her urban home was of average size and in a good part of town. She was well cared for by her uncle as both her parents worked, one an attorney and the other an police officer. Her younger brother was the type to play pranks when an adult wasn’t looking, but they were all fairly harmless and he appologized for them by the end of the day. The only disputes that occurred were the ones where her uncle was being told to get a job and move out, which was more or less fair seeing how he was pretty much a freeloader. Granted things didn’t stay as peaceful as the girl grew up.
It wasn’t something like “a big event happened and now she’s terribly depressed” but was more like “the world bumped up the level of difficulty”. The girl had a hard time fitting in with society. She’d daydream constantly and often lose attention or get distracted within moments of not doing anything, which caused people to tend to leave her alone. Granted she didn’t exactly go after people wanting to be their friend either so she was mostly fine with the situation. She did get into trouble occasionally; though. Some guy would try to make a move on her while she’s out of it or some punk would try to play prank. Whenever that happened her “monster” would curtly take care of them.
This “monster” was a 6’2” bulky jock like character with a strong sense of justice and a mostly docile nature. He’d came to Kimiko one evening in 7th grade when she was just drawing in her usual spot, and begged her to tutor him since she was one of the top of her class. Of course, because of her kind nature, she accepted. With that the two of them began their odd friendship. Which ends with ruin. Sort of. Not really. Just injury. Ok. The loss of her friends leg. Which was not Kimiko’s fault. At all. But that is a story for another day.
When the girl entered high school and her friend was in rehabilitation, her parents finally kicked her freeloading uncle out. While she understood and respected what they did, she missed her uncle and felt terrible for him. Until she got a call from him saying he was alright and currently staying at his girlfriend’s house. Then she felt slightly ticked at him for letting her worry, but relieved at the same time.
For the rest of her high school life nothing else really happened. No death, no dating, no drama, and nothing out of the ordinary. Just college decisions now. At first the girl didn’t want to go to college and just wanted to become an artist or a mangaka, but after a harsh talk with her parents and the frantic pleas from her uncle, she decided to major in psychology since she found the research interesting. She moved into an apartment near the campus with her old friend at his request; he had a hard time living alone with his injury and his parents kicked him out. It was a convenient location too. She also got a job at her uncle’s girlfriend’s restaurant so she could have some spending money.
Hobbies:
-Drawing, She has a running comic online called “The Ugliest of Creatures” that she posts under the username Empress Macabre. It’s dark and often involves something she learned about in class but at the same time the majority of her standalone artwork is typically cute.
-Reading. Articles, books, old research projects, manga. Whatever seems interesting.

(it is one of the rare flawless time travel system it works this way: when you use an time machine it create an new universe who have as state the state of the universe you are coming from at the time you want to travel so if you go in prehistory and change stuff it will not change anything in the universe you are coming from)
Basically the divergence timeline system in which the further you travel back the more divergent line you travel to, thus travel into the distant past or future decreased accuracy leads to more and more offset so travelling back a week may be similar, but a thousand years and it may be a completely different timeline.
Short answer: Yes.
EDIT.
Minami Ayano || Age:20 || Female
Suggestions for established networks i have at the moment are "Online friend" or simply have a day job at some shop other player characters are likely to visit.
Takashi Iemochi || Age:21 || Male
His childhood was spent in his
magicaluncle's clinic, wherein he often played with syringes filled with water and blood pressure pumps. Running around with a nurse every now and then, he learned of their uses and functions fairly easily, his parents remarking an aptitude for medicine and wishing him to be part of the industry in the future as well.Childhood went as a fair breeze for Takashi despite the variable speed of his learning, and while he wasn't the top of class all the time, he was an outstanding student in his own right.
