[FOREWORD] I would like it to be noted that this is loosely based off of the College of Winterhold in Skyrim. I've had someone claim a similar RP like this on another forum was a rip off of Harry Potter, but I'd like to point out that it is not. Skyrim gave me the original idea. Please keep this in mind.
Welcome, proud mage! There is no doubt in my mind you've decided to read this letter due to your prior knowledge of the college (Which rhymes!), but as is regulation we must provide you information below.
The College of The Magi was founded over two thousand years ago at the beginning of recorded time. The greatest mages of old had come together, believing that teaching young ones how to use and control their powers would help to civilize the people. The college was formed in the UK with the funding of the king of England. Here you will learn a great many magics and how to use them properly. You'll find a list of classes below. Please take note of them as you read, as you'll have to pick your major and such in your return letter. The College looks forward to hearing back from you!

Popular Organizations
In case you didn't know, the College is home to several organizations which are allowed their own dorms. You do not have to join one, although you may find it useful. Just include one on your application. Please keep in mind these are ran by students, and thus they may have their own requirements.
1. Pyro
The club of Pyro is reserved for only mages who primary in fire magic. This is not only the most common, but most popular style of magic, thus leaving the club highest in members. These mages are quick to anger and act passionately. *Note: Pyro has specified they also will allow in lightning elemental magic as well, since it's closely related.*
2. Golgari
This organization is full of people who cherish the earth, but also believe it to be a play thing. This club largely consists of people who are good with nature magics and in later years intend to use or master necromancy and summoning. These people are very in tune with nature but are not afraid to destroy it for their own benefit. This club became the second most popular due to students thinking it to be the "cool and mysterious" club.
3. Azorious
Club Azorious is full of student council members and people with high scores. These mages strive to be smart, and well rounded in almost everything. There isn't a great scholar or scientist today who didn't come from this club, which also is the longest running. Intelligence is fairly hard to find, which usually lands this club lowers on the list.
*Please note: This does not represent all clubs! These are simply the most popular ones able to pay for advertisement. Students may also start their own provided they are at least sophomores and have two other students willing to join.*
But where will I get my supplies and books?
The College, due to it's popularity and students, is situated just above a bustling town on the mountain. We provide your books, and you are given $200 a week for food and spending money.

Name: Blake Thomas
Age: I am 17 years of age.
Appearance: I would say that I have a lithe body, one that contains enough muscle to be consider toned or muscular but yet not too much as to restrict agility. I stand at about 5 feet 10 inches and weigh about 170 pounds. My facial structure includes high cheek-bones and large, almost-expressive gray-blue eyes. The hair atop my head is wavy and brown. It is combed over to the right so that the hair is like a wave a few inches above my scalp. My skin tone is rather pale and almost drains the look of life out of my face. I sport well-defined, thin lips that are a shade of light pink that barely stands out amongst my pale skin.
As for my clothing, I regularly sport a black wool coat that shrouds my usual black button-down shirt. Normally, I wear a bright red tie that almost stands out in defiance of the dark tones around it. My shirt is usually tucked into a pair of plain black slacks that are held up by a black leather belt with a shiny silver buckle. Humorously, I mostly prance around in my black snake skin shoes which is rather odd due to the fact that my pet is a serpent. Lastly, on top of my head I wear a black Akubra Territory.
Year: Sophomore.
Classes: Necromancy +*, Summoning, Runes, and Alchemy Y2.
What would you describe yourself as being good at?: I would say I’m a good narrator but I may be a terrible judge of skill. I would also consider myself a decent, if not above-average, philosopher and writer.
Most interested in what class?: Necromancy.
Would you describe yourself as greedy, intelligent, passionate, lawful, or instinctive?: I would describe myself as an intellectual.
Favorite weapon?: Knives...for now.
Backstory: I was born to two faithful parents named Alice Thomas and Daniel Thomas. They had been married for ten years before I was born. When I was born, my father was thirty-seven years of age and my mother two years his younger. It wasn’t until I was twelve years old that I discovered my magical powers. At the age of twelve, I was sitting beside a tree one day reading a book. I placed the book down on my lap and closed my eyes for a second, I slowly fell asleep and upon the time I awoke vines and other forms of shrubbery were growing up against my legs on my lap. It must’ve been completely accidental. When I told my parents, they were proud of me and decided to try and help me become able to control my powers. So, they sent me off to my grandfather. My grandfather was considered crazy by most of my family but he was the only one still alive that had any training in the arts of magic. When they shipped me off to him, he embraced me with open arms. However, he did not plan on teaching me anything about nature magic. He was a necromancer. He informed of all the interesting things necromancer’s can do and it intrigued me. I listened to him constantly, fascinated by that type of magic. He taught me about it and showed off his powers. He also taught me a bit of the basics of elemental magic and a little bit of summoning. However, he never actually taught me necromancy. Unfortunately. By the time I was fourteen though, a letter arrived inviting me to the College of the Magi. And I accepted, wholeheartedly. I went through my freshman year with very high scores. I did very, very well. And recently, I received an invitation here for a second year. And I do hope to go there.
Inventory: I shall be bringing a switchblade for a weapon, a necromancer’s spell book, my smartphone, and my pet Ball Python (Python regius) who is known as Tiberius.
I would like to wait until all ten spots are taken to open the IC post, but seeing how we've only got one more application in coming, and three is plenty, I will open the IC right after Arodes submits his application.
Can't wait. I guess I'll write up my application to pass the time.

Fayden prefers his dragon flame staff
Backstory:
Fayden was born into a house known for it's fire magic. The Fayden family has been leading the world in elemental magic for centuries, they also are the ones on speed dial for taking care of dragons. Due to this, Dack was expected to be amazing at fire magic from an early age. And he was. The pressure bit down on him from the first day he produced sparks. At the age of ten he had his initiation, to officially be a part of the Fayden family. His task was to kill a baby red dragon. Red dragons by large are the most powerful of their kind, and even the offspring are capable of killing most adults. Dack, however, did succeed in his task and killed the dragon. He infused the blood of the baby dragon into a large piece of wood nearby, which was then sculpted into his staff (As was normal in the Fayden family.) At thirteen he was brought to the academy and allowed to start classes early. Since then it is rumored that he has killed two fully grown red dragons for the college, the hearts of which were put on both ends of his staff. Around the college his flames are legendary - possibly the greatest fire mage of the current age. He also took control of the school club "Pyro" his first year after defeating the current leader.
Inventory (You'll be given certain supplies when you arrive, and money to spend in the town. You however are allowed to bring one weapon, one spell book of choice, a pet, and only one electronic device (Phone, laptop, et cetera.)
His dragon flame staff (Which contains dragons blood as well as a crystalized dragons heart at both ends, rumor says that he killed both dragons that were used to create the staff), Flame Magic: A History for the book, a phoenix, and a cell phone.
Name: Aiden Rose
Age: 16
Year: Sophomore
Classes: Combative Magic+, Runes, Summoning, *Elemental Y2
What would you describe yourself as being good at?: Analytical thinking *there are some crossed out words that read 'Sword Fighting' and 'Magic'
Most interested in what class?: Elemental Y2
Would you describe yourself as greedy, intelligent, passionate, lawful, or instinctive?: Intelligent
Favorite weapon: My sword, Animatellum (if acceptable, I'd like to have it be able to transform into something smaller?)
Backstory: Aiden was raised in a distant village until he was 12. He lived with his sister and younger brother along with their parents. His family wasn't a part of the bourgeoisie or anything but they were able to bring food to their table. Aiden's mother was the only one in the entire family who possessed skill in magic. She taught all of her children basic magic but Aiden was always curious, looking into his mother's magic tomes. When she learned that Aiden -8 at the time- was like her and had magical prowess as well. They learned about his ability one night when they were going out. When they were at a park nearby, Aiden wandered off. Getting lost quickly, he tried to find his way back. When his parents noticed their boy was gone, they started looking for him. When they found him, he was curled up in a corner with blood all around him. There were three dead men around him. After many questions were asked, Aiden's mother understood what had happened. She decided to start training her child in order to face the biggest threat to humans, possibly sending him to his death. At the age of 14, he was sent to the College of Magi in order to further his training. While he has no notable experience in fighting actual opponents, he knows how to use magic very well and learned how to wield the sword he was given to by his mother, the Animatellum.
Inventory: Animatellum (weapon), Elementalist's Spell Book, Laptop, and his pet husky
Arodes, accepted. Although you would've had to have been 14 to get in (you said 12), this is a minor detail and as long as you remember that it'll be just fine.
Begin work on the IC topic and map!
Looking forward to roleplaying with all of you, friends.
Depends on what you classify as powerful. There's a difference between creating the most powerful flame in the world, and creating a rune capable of absorbing all the fire and shooting it back at the caster. Or creating a poison that can be absorbed through the skin and cause instant death (And just throwing it at someone.) Any of these skills could be used to a vast degree of usefulness.

1. Yes, but it would be plausible that, had you done extraordinarily well in your classes the previous year, that you could be allowed an extra class or two.
2. That's up to players. That is there because some people like the development more than power in a roleplay. Quite a few people would rather go through those classes and watch their character become better. It would also seem only logical that a freshman be taught the basics, rather than day 1 how to summon the dead? Things have to stack upon each other. You don't teach 8th graders in real life trigonometry.
3. That's up to you. It would mean you've already attended one year. I leave to you to decide how well you think your character did. I trust most people on this forum to be logical about that.
Name: Blak Norman
Age (You should be between 14-16 for a freshman and 16-18 for sophomore): 13, but I have maturity far beyond my age.
Appearance (There is no uniform, but please keep it appropriate!): Blak is a lizard-like humanoid creature,(similar to the Lizofos from The Legend of Zelda) with short legs, a large torso and long arms. His scales are completely black and his eyes are purple with red pupils. About 6 feet tall with an interest in magic and the Arcane for as long as he can remember.
Year (You can only start as a Freshman or Sophomore): Freshman
Classes (You must have four, and put an asterisk* by your major) Elemental Magic
Illusionary Magic
*Magical artifacts
Alchemy
What would you describe yourself as being good at?: Mathematics and science.
Most interested in what class?: Magical Artifacts.
Would you describe yourself as greedy, intelligent, passionate, lawful, or instinctive?: Intelligent
Favorite weapon?: Battleaxe
Backstory: Blak's race was often hunted for their skin and teeth. They were driven to the brink of extinction until they began to fight back. They had Mages, Necromancers and Warriors. They are now a group of powerful creatures.
Inventory (You'll be given certain supplies when you arrive, and money to spend in the town. You however are allowed to bring one weapon, one spell book of choice, a pet, and only one electronic device (Phone, laptop, et cetera.) A battleaxe, A Lizard's Book of The Arcane, A Snake, and a Laptop.
George Ninja, I am thoroughly impressed. I've never seen an application from you before, thus upon seeing the massive wall of text, I was expecting the usual. A dull, boring read. However, your style of describing things (Which is better than my own, I must admit) kept me entertained and happy to read on until the end. I sincerely consider you to be one of the better roleplayers I've met, based solely on your application.
Name: Jason Auragala
Age (You should be between 14-16 for a freshman and 16-18 for sophomore): 16
Appearance (There is no uniform, but please keep it appropriate!): While he may not admit this himself at first, he is quite attractive, with angular features not unlike those of Fae folk such as elves. He has eyes the color of storm clouds, or perhaps the side of a granite cliff, while his hair is a dirty blonde color and is mid-length,reaching a little below his ears. Build-wise, he is fairly average, if slightly muscular. Casual wear includes a gray leather jacket that has a navy blue eagle inked into the back. the jacket also sports a detachable gray cotton hood. Alongside the jacket are a simple pair of blue jeans, nothing fancy. He also wears gray Hi-Tops. Any different outfits will be defined in RP.
Year (You can only start as a Freshman or Sophomore):Freshman
Classes (You must have four, and put an asterisk* by your major): Elemental Magic*, Alchemy, Magical Artifacts and Illusionary Magic.
What would you describe yourself as being good at?: Stone Magic, Technology(In General), Animal Training and Potion Brewing.
Most interested in what class?: Alchemy
Would you describe yourself as greedy, intelligent, passionate, lawful, or instinctive?: He's a combination of Intelligent, Passionate and Instinctive, but most prominently would be Passionate.
Favorite weapon?: A rock or a lump of metal. While not very effective on its own, Jason can use his magic to sculpt it into a variety of weapons or simply fling it at people.
Backstory: Jason was born into a quite well-off family in Los Angeles, California, a family of Traders. He and his sister Selena grew up spoiled, and one day, out of the blue, their father decided to take them on a camping trip in the Rockies when Jason was eight. It wasn't really a camping trip, more like just moving all the furniture into the snow. Of course, Jason wandered off, and found himself cornered by a Wolf. Much to Jason's surprise, once he yelled at the wolf to stop, it stopped advancing. It even let him Pet it. He hurried back to the campsite, and found Selena and his Parents worried sick looking for him. He mother kept cringing as he told them the story of the Wolf, and she then spilled the beans on her being a Mage. They decided to keep the wolf (Now dubbed 'Frostfire'), seeing how friendly it was, and Jason's mother took him on as a student.
As he grew older, he became very attached to Gaming. He liked challenging things, the kind that would make you want to throw your computer/console out the window. Once, in a fit of Gamer Rage, he nearly brought the house down by stirring up the stone foundations and bending the support beams. His mother warned him to control it, and he obliged. He also went through a phase of mixing things in large pots, which his mother told him could actually be magic. With glee, Jason mixed everything in sight. Again, he nearly brought the house down with some of his more volatile mixtures after his mother opened up her cupboards of magical ingredients. His parents were happy to oblige when he asked if he could go to the College, and while his sister Selena isn't quite old enough yet, she will arrive soon.
Inventory (You'll be given certain supplies when you arrive, and money to spend in the town. You however are allowed to bring one weapon, one spell book of choice, a pet, and only one electronic device (Phone, laptop, et cetera.):On the way up, he carried a small burlap sack full of rocks and scrap metal, a backpack with a dagger made entirely of Quartzite and leather, a few books, one labeled 'How to Throw Rocks with your Mind', quite obviously a spell book And a very high-end laptop with LED lights all over it and a logo that looked like a stereotypical alien(Or Gray, as it is better known)'s head. Padding along behind him is his tamed wolf Frostfire, whom is very protective of Jason.
George, you would've learned about artifacts rather than runes themselves the previous year. There's differences, but I'm trying to make this different from other school-like RPs - The classes aren't just time skips. You'll actually learn everything.
However, I can give you a run down on magical artifacts.
The simple difference between mages and humans is our ability to control mana, which is stored within us. Some use it to light flames, others to make contracts. As for magical artifacts, they can do almost anything you can do. It only depends on the makers craftsmanship and how much mana they put into it while creating it. This is important, as when the infused mana runs out - it's just a stick. What the artifact does depends on what you intended when infusing it. It's extremely easy to make a artifact enhance magic, and extremely hard to make it just create magic. The difficulty is two fold if you wish it to do more than one thing.
A great example is Faydens staff. It wasn't created with mana, but instead created with dragons blood, which is the most mana rich substance existing (Except maybe Unicorn blood, but they are extremely rare.) The infused dragons blood was put there with the idea in mind that it enhance fire magic. Same with both crystallized hearts. Due to these factors, Faydens staff is very unlikely to ever run out of mana and just be a stick.
Although judging your characters intelligence and interest in runes, I can tell you what you'd probably already know before walking into that classroom.
Runes are different from artifacts in that they cannot be just any object, and are much like an entire language. Runes operate off words, and thus is somewhat of a science to learn what combinations do what. It has been noted however, that much like artifacts, runes require mana to function. While you could easily replicate some of the most famous runes in existence, it's likely they wouldn't function for more than a few seconds at best.
The most powerful rune ever created was the Vex El Zod Eth Rune (or most just call it the Vex Rune), which roughly translates (In a language I've made up, by the way) to "Dragons Blood Rune." This rune, while it is currently lost, was used by the powerful mage Jace. It gave the user a nearly unlimited mana pool, equivalent to that of a dragons.
And now onto Hero's application. You did fine, a few weird errors here and there (Such as capitalizing the word "pet" in your backstory.) But nothing too bad. You are accepted. For ease on yourself and me, you could just have been in the group with Fayden and not have said anything yet. We haven't entered the school yet, so you haven't missed much.
I would like it to be noted that this is loosely based off of the College of Winterhold in Skyrim. I've had someone claim a similar RP like this on another forum was a rip off of Harry Potter, but I'd like to point out that it is not. Skyrim gave me the original idea. Please keep this in mind.

Begin work on the IC topic and map!
Looking forward to roleplaying with all of you, friends.
Thanks I fixed it
Also, the IC is up! Go post peoples
