The story starts as a person is in the village he grew up in, a normally peaceful day, but since we want to play the game, we'll skip that bit. More on that later.
This is text-based, and I've decided to take an unorthodox approach to RPGs, first, you have to unlock your classes. Second, there is no hp bar. Damage to characters is described in how injured you are, not how much health you've lost. Basic enemies will be described as healthy, injured, wounded, crippled, and dead. Boss will have their health measured with percentages. Don't worry, they aren't all really over powered, just the ones at the end of the game, but by then you'll be getting significantly over powered yourselves to be able to win.
When joining, you pick your class (you unlock a new one every area) and choose an ability. Said ability is not your only attack, but it is something special you can do that is rather difficult to figure out. For magical classes, there will be more ability points to spend. As you level up, your health will go up, and you will be given more ability points. You can sacrifice abilities to get ability points for more impressive abilities, you can also upgrade abilities you already have. You don't have to use abilities in your attack, but you do have to follow your class's guidelines of how they fight. for example, a wizard isn't good with a sword and a rogue can't throw fireballs (unless that means lighting a small oil cask and throwing it). You need to stick within the situation and far-out attacks won't be accepted. No sci-fi stuff in this one though. You CAN however have clockwork weaponry, as that is sufficiently fantasy themed. What happens when you die? You choose a new character. However, you don't want to commit suicide, you go back down to level 1 when you die.
The classes are seperated into groups of three, and each zone has three areas, so three classes. Each class is in the group with the other classes unlocked in the same zone, and you have to have joined a certain amount of time before in order to play as most classes, here are the requirements below.
zone 1 classes: You can choose these whenever. They are available always.
zone 2 classes: Available once your first character dies (you can't have multiple characters)
zone 3 classes: Just need to have played through three levels.
zone 4 classes: Need to have played through a full area (three levels plus a mini-boss)
zone 5 classes: Need to have played through an entire zone.
zone 6 classes: Need to have joined in zone 3 or earlier.
zone 7 classes: veterans only. Only people who first joined in zone 1 will get to play as these.
When I say played through, that means you joined that long ago. You can leave and come back and you will have access to new classes. There will be a list at the bottom that specifies who has access to which classes. Right now rogue is the only one available.
Just choose your character, class, and ability, and then post your action. You can act from your spawning. Remember, you get to choose the ability, but it has to be a reasonable level of power, and has to be something that goes along with the class. No summoning for the rogue, no sword throw for the wizard, be class-coherent.
An ordinary day in the village, you are beginning to regret coming from the city, it is really boring here. A sound of panic comes from further into the market, and then a snarl. Goblins? Here? Why would they come here? Suddenly a group of goblins run into the crowd around you, killing people and burning the market.
As the game goes on, the situations will get more complex, so I've put everything into spoilers.
current situation holds what is currently going on.
character data is empty, as no one has joined yet. It will hold everyone's stats, abilities and injuries.
class data is where I list the classes and who can choose what, this isn't so important yet, it will be more so once we get to zone 2.
Grasslands zone.
area: Village
level: Market
The market is in chaos, lots of people milling about, running, screaming, hiding. Many of the stalls and houses are on fire, and goblins are milling about, taking what they want. Five goblins are closer than the others, they’ve trapped a woman and three children inside their home and are trying to set it on fire.
rogue: master of the knife and the shadow, rogues focus on agility and dodging the opponent’s attack and making sure the opponent takes their attack in the worst place possible.
who can choose these: everyone. no other zones's classes unlocked yet.
I guess since the only choice is rogue I'll go with that.. lol :0
EDIT:
Sorry, my ability would have to be Dagger Whirlwind, where I spin and afflict damage to multiple targets in the vicinity.
Accepted!
I like the attack, that will be useful. Just so you know (anyone who is reading this) you can actually attack in the same post you spawn a character, you just can't use an ability.
Your nickname is flaming. I almost used the initials in your username then realized I couldn't.
Well, since rogue is the only choice...I choose rogue!
My ability is just a dagger throw.
Accepted (I have a feeling I won't be rejecting very many applications)
Also a useful ability. Since I don't want to make this boring, ammo will not be an issue. Broken weapons probably won't either, you can always just pick up a monster's.
your nickname was easy. yoot.
i choose rogue! my ability is poisoned dagger.
i stab one of the goblins with my highly toxic dagger
Accepted. nickname: obsessed. I think wizard might pop up again, so I'm going to use this.
Obsessed stabs one of the goblins from behind (not poisoned, hadn't accepted the ability yet), stabbing him through the heart. The goblin drops to the ground. The other goblins turn and see him and start to move to attack him, but he easily dodges their clumsy swings. 10 xp gained from killing a goblin. 50 xp gained from sneak attack (The amount of xp for sneak attack isn't going to go up, just be warned.)
Two more goblins notice the fight and move in, goblins like to gang up on people.
alerts:
First alert, this is the alerts (duh!) I just added it because I realized some people might not take the time to read the situation closely, so I'm going to put down things you'll want to pay attention to that are serious issues.
Second alert, obsessed is currently about to be taking on six goblins on his own, plus however many other decide to jump on him. I would advise helping him, the quicker you finish the fight the better.
The market is in chaos, lots of people milling about, running, screaming, hiding. Many of the stalls and houses are on fire, and goblins are milling about, taking what they want. Four goblins are facing obsessed and fairly close to him, two more are coming down the street to join in on the attempt to kill him. yoot and flaming have not yet been noticed.

I'll be a rogue, since I can only be a rogue.
Ability: Multi-stab (hits a random number of times really quickly)
I jump up behind a goblin and stab him.
Accepted!

I jump to obsessed's side and use my ability carefully, making sure not to hit my ally.
Okay, first off, something I should probably clear up. You don't have to post for your character to do something. If someone uses your character as part of their strategy, you can go along with it, but your character will assist them if you don't post. Characters will also automatically do something if their player doesn't post. However, characters cannot use abilities when their user doesn't post. That isn't a trouble for spell casters and psions though, as they have default abilities. wizards for example have magic missile as a default spell. Yes, spoilers, psion and wizard are both future classes (zone 4 and 5 respectively). Another spoiler on how you will be unlocking classes, no spell casters until zone 3, don't worry, it won't be needed badly until then.
Rouge is a pretty odd starting class, but whatever.
Rouge
Ability: Silent Movement (or quieter if that's too OP)
I walk behind the goblins who are reinforcing and stab one of them.
I have a reason behind the class order. You want to start out with striking classes here, and the rogue is best suited to this close combat.
Accepted! nickname, is of course, fseftr. Easy to type, but honestly I have no idea how to pronounce your name.
The goblins, who are focused on the spawning brawl with obsessed, are not paying attention, and so you are easily able to walk behind one and stab him in the vital organs. He drops to the ground, dead as a doornail. 10 xp for a goblin kill, 50 xp for a sneak attack.
The other goblin turns to look at you, then runs away.
I'll be a rogue, since I can only be a rogue.
Ability: Multi-stab (hits a random number of times really quickly)
I jump up behind a goblin and stab him.
ka_doink, your nickname will be kadoink.
You jump on the goblin, and quickly stab him. 10 xp for killing a goblin, 50 xp for a sneak attack. The other three goblins look at you, then turn to run.
Just so you guys know, the goblins are about 3 and half feet tall, they're pretty small.
I jump to obsessed's side and use my ability carefully, making sure not to hit my ally.
you jump in front of the goblins, killing two and maiming the other, who limps off the street.
20 xp for killing two goblins, 5% killstreak bonus (two), grand total of 21 xp awarded.
I like to join
Class:Rogue
Ability:Flaming Flask(Tosses a cask of oil thats on fire at enemies)
accepted! Your nickname is duck. (Hmm, I wonder why?) Nice, I think the molotov cocktail ability of yours might come in handy.
When duck moves in to see what his fellow rogues are doing, the goblin that escaped fseftr comes back down the road, this time with reinforcements. a group of ten goblins are following him, a few arrows shoot at fseftr from a roof, he sees them in time and dodges them though.
i poison my dagger and do a quick slice to at least cut as many goblins as possible
obsessed runs forward to do his dagger slice, the goblin archers fire at him but miss, he swipes at the goblins, gutting one, and poisoning the other two. He then dodges back to where fseftr is hiding behind a cart to avoid the archers. 30 xp for killing three goblins, and 10% killstreak bonus (three), grand total of 33 xp awarded.
kadoink also braves the fire of the goblin archers, but is less fortunate than the other two, the archers are ready this time, and several arrows graze him, he takes cover with fseftr and obsessed.
alerts:
I think these ones are pretty obvious. The archers need to be removed, because they are making the situation rather difficult, the group of goblins is also important, but honestly if they reach the three rogues taking cover, the fight is lopsided in your favor. You might have more trouble if they decide to attack you guys out in the middle of the street where they'll have archer support.
The market is in chaos, lots of people milling about, running, screaming, hiding. Many of the stalls and houses are on fire, and goblins are milling about, taking what they want. Seven goblins are charging down the street towards fseftr, kadoink and obsessed, and two goblin archers are on a roof, trying to hit them.

I call it anti-ninja software (When people post before you while your typing your post, its called being ninja'd) because I can.
The best thing to do is to wait until I finish the update, then post. But if you post before I finish, you are allowed to go back and edit your posts.
As fseftr, kadoink and obsessed are being targeted by all of the goblins currently, I decide to find a stealthy path up towards the archers and quietly assassinate them both.
