Well, to be fair, their are probably 100+ cities/towns named Florence in the US. (Myself living in one of them.) But you are right in that when someone who's obviously not local mentions Florence, they usually mean THE Florence for which all those silly US towns are named. Have fun hunting me down and burning my house.
