Some things I have thought of - don't sig it until it is time. don't let it get any views, even if it is hidden. Also, post a lot when it gets down to like 1 hour (before sigging it) so your sig is getting tons of pageviews. The Beta forum gets the most attention. try to post in short threads (less than 30 posts) so you get a post on the first page.
I read some of the neglected science's forum, and it implied that an egg can turn neglected no matter how many views it has, as long as its not enough to hatch.
They also theorize that dead eggs on your scroll increase your chances.

So in my first four short lived eggs, i learned that you should never put them in your sig the day you stole them. I read not doing it, i did it, i got the same results... Stupid me.
This time I'm going to try the incubator instead, same day as stolen

Don't worry. I killed like my first 2 batches. Just don't go for rare ones until you get the hang of it so you don't kill them. If you do get something rare, don't sig it. patience is the name of the game.

I stuffed my eggs into my signature on McForums, posted on like 50 topics and got 1,700 views on their first day alive.
They got sick.
I feel sad.
You probably didnt wait long enough, if you wait a day before putting them into your signature or anywhere else for views, they dont get sick as easily.

I was in the abandoned section refreshing the page every 2 seconds, and I nabbed 3 hatchlings in 30 minutes!
You can name it after it becomes a zombie.
