To make a character, you must follow these guidelines:
1. HP and MP/EP must be a balance of 35. (Example: If you pick 13 HP and 22 MP/EP, that is accepted.)
2. If you want both MP and EP, you must divide your MP/EP in half. (Example: If you picked 22 MP/EP, then you will have 11 MP and 11 EP. If there is a remainder, you can assign that to MP or EP, your pick.)
3. The six stats have been assigned into pairs, and you must keep a balance of 5 for each. The pairs are: ATK & DEF, MAG & VIT, and SPD & LCK.
4. You can make a class of your choice. If it has an exclusive limit of points (LP, SP, etc.) then you need to take your MP/EP value and divide it by two to get the maximum value for it. (If you have MP AND EP, you must add them both, divide that by three. Example: If you have 11 MP and 11 EP, take them both to get 22, and divide that by three. You'll get 7 MP, 7 EP, and 7 (Stat). Assign the remainder to whatever.)

3. Fighters with higher SPD will go first. If there are fighters that have their SPD tied with others, the order of those fighters will be random.

ATK increases damage of physical attacks, and DEF decreases damage of physical attacks. MAG and VIT are the same as ATK and DEF, respectively, only they relate to magical attacks. SPD shows how quickly you can move in battle (as stated above), and LCK shows how often you can get Criticals.
I will use a random number generator (RNG) to determine how much damage is dealt. The formula is as follows: (RNG Result + Fighter's ATK - Victim's DEF = Damage). If the attack is magical, ATK is replaced by MAG and victim's DEF is replaced by VIT.
If a healing spell is used, formula is: (RNG Result + User's MAG = Heal).
Each point of LCK shows the percentage change of criticals. It can never exceed 30%, but with a perk, you can extend it to 50%. To balance this, LCK can only go up by 1 point when you level up.

Perks are special abilities you get at a specific level that can affect your character, like extra EXP, more armor slots, stuff like that. Abilities are skills you can use in battle, and depending on your class, I'll give you your starting weapon.

David starts building his shelter. The mayor notices him.
Mayor: Hey, you need a permit to build here!
David: Oh. Sorry. What do I need to do to get a permit?
The mayor examines David's equipment.
Mayor: I'm guessing you're a warrior. We've had bandits threatening our town. If you can get rid of them, you'll be granted a permit.
David: I'm always searching for adventure! Where can I find these evildoers?
Mayor: ...Uh. I don't know. But we have brave lads searching around for their--
The mayor doesn't get to finish his sentence.
Villager: HELP! We're under attack!
David: ?! That's my cue.
David rushes to the entrance. Other warriors dash to the entrance as well.
